Good morning! We were almost at the bottom of page one :( Very warm outside at 65 degrees,,they say that will be our high. One place says storms this morning, one says light rain. If not wet when we get back from grocery shopping, I will mow the lawn again. They are calling for rain on Fri, Sat, and maybe Sunday. Nothing new going on around here, wica85738e97f4b440b7ba6f0a7975e7a7--happy-wednesday-mother-earth.jpgll be back later to check in. Have a nice morning.

Good morning,

On and off showers here too. I want to get my small garden turned over and planted. And the grass needs to be mowed. Working on getting extra house cleaning done as DD is having Carter's first birthday party here on May 16. She wants to have it outside and we have a much larger yard. Want to get the windows cleaned on the first floor at least. This is one of those jobs I do not do on a regular basis. (In my row house that I bought when I was single, my mother washed all the windows before I moved in. There were only 8 total. Three years later I had new windows installed to avoid washing them. Then three years after that I sold the house and moved to again avoid washing them. :rotfl: )

Good Morning,

It's supposed to be a bit warmer here today :sunny: Quiet Wednesday. Glad Dad will be staying home. Tomorrow, he's going to the Dollar Tree and taking my poor filthy white car (it's parked on the street) to the drive through car wash to hopefully be turned a little more white again. Informed delivery just shows solicitations :P

Have a bright and good day everyone :)

Our informed delivery shows a jury duty summons for DH. Usually they are always for me.

That's funny. In our house, it's usually DH who gets called (3x since we moved to FL in 2007, twice for county and once for federal. wasn't needed at any of them, lol). I received a notice for JD yesterday, lol, for May 14th (county). Best thing...it's on zoom. I still have to wear nice clothes, but I don't have to wear shoes! :rotfl2:

That's the most exciting thing that's happened in the last few days.

DD#2 secured Homecoming (lunch before going to Epcot, arrival day) and Skippers Canteen (MK day) reservations for our trip. She missed Oga's, so we're watching for any openings, since DH and I want to see it. Hmm, since they are doing a VIP tour for MK and HS, maybe the VIP guy can get us a spot? LOL No plans for AK day (or other plans for HS, as we didnt' want to screw up timing with RotR).

Now, if the DoorDash guy would ever show up with our lunch........

Happy Cinco de Mayo,

We are kind of gray here today. I am hoping the rain doesn't cancel my grandson's baseball game. Between the 3 grandsons I can go to games everyday this week if the weather holds out.

My mom stopped by with a small gift she made me. My mom is very crafty and loves to sew. She made me a table runner and microwave cozies with the extra fabric. I can't wait to get the rest of the downstairs done so I can use the runner. It's an Easter fabric but with all kinds of whimsical puppies. The cozies are really interesting. You can put the bowl in it and then use the cozy to take the bowl out of the microwave without burning your hands. She also stopped in to see my kitchen. It got the mom stamp of approval.

Of course mom did notice my very pink, ok red, arms and gave me what for. I know I forgot to use sunblock the other day and I inherited the lovely very fair Scot/Irish complexion so I do burn. She just wants to make sure I remember the sunblock since she has had a couple of minor bouts with skin cancer, not melanoma thankfully.

My husband wanted Taco Bell the other day so I owe him tacos for dinner tonight.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Somehow I have evaded jury duty my entire life...well, I say evaded but I guess I mean inadvertently avoided. I have never, ever once been called for it. I'm registered to vote, to drive and they certainly know where I am! I used to cringe and duck when I mentioned I'd never been called, but I never jinxed myself (yet) so :confused3 My husband gets called about once every 2-3 years it seems. My parents have each gotten called twice in 2019 by a county they haven't lived in for 7 years, and in a state they haven't lived in in 3 years! I wouldn't mind being called for jury duty, I'd like to have the experience at least once.

We are kind of gray here today.

We started as gray, then the sun came out and it steamed right up. Then it rained again, then the sun. Now it's rain again. Mother Nature can't make up her mind! I'm kind of glad it rained though, if not I was going to have to drag the hose out and get the sprinkler on the garden.

Hope everyone is having a good day. We are waiting to hear if husband and eldest have to go to Louisiana later this evening. Should know by 4 or 5 latest. My poor husband, it's the last thing he feels like doing, he was on the road most of Friday & Sunday last week, and to make it worse he has to turn around and drive to FL on Wednesday - and we aren't usually drive and go types. I mean, we drive. A lot, all over for work. Neither of us find a long car trip on our top 10 list if we can fly there. Unfortunately for him these two trips are happening one right after the other and the circumstances are that items need to be delivered and towed. It was looking like it wouldn't happen around lunchtime , so I went and took something out of the freezer for dinner - talk about jinxing! ha I probably did so by actually getting something out for dinner that he wouldn't be here for!

Hope everyone is having a good afternoon.

You are so funny B&B, thanks for the smile ;) Jury Duty from home definitely sounds like a better experience! Carol, Ihope your DH will have that same option. The last time I as called was in 2018. I had to serve for one day at a courthouse a good hour+from me! Change of locations (at that time anyway, might be different now) were not allowed. I've never served on a jury though the time before 2018 came very close to being selected. I had made it into the 20 (I think) potential juror box. I had to come back on day 2 the only time I've ever had to do that. I don't remember now for sure but think on Day 2 I was closer to being selected especially after being asked to move up by taking the seat of someone who was dismissed (who had spoken and been questioned. Thankfully I never had to say a word either day which was fine by me). For some reason the attorneys as soon as I sat down decided to dismiss me (so what was the point of my sitting down :P)? That was that. Dad did serve on a jury case once.

That sounds lovely, Taz Dev. I am truly glad to hear your Mom did something positive for you, my friend :)

I'm sorry your DH might have a long drive ahead of him, Easyas. I hope you (other than the gloomy weather) are having a good day otherwise. That is amazing you have never had Jury Duty!

Sparkletts just came and we got to meet our new delivery man. He very kindly brought in all the bottles so Dad didn't have to do that. Happy camper=my Dad. Since all the other bottles have thankfully been A-okay, I think we are sticking with Sparkletts and just pray for no more leaky bottles! Should it happen again, that would probably be the end of our delivery.

Have a good afternoon, friends.

That's good - those bottles leaking is no fun, and they are so heavy. We have a water bottle thingy here in the office and I have the hardest time picking them up and getting them up high enough onto the dispenser. We had a dispenser break once, thank goodness there wasn't much water left in the bottle on it at the time!

I meant to comment on the Jury Duty and forgot. I was called the first time 1 week before my 21st birthday and got picked. Of course I was young and full of patriotic spirit. Sadly it was a kidnapping and murder case. He was found guilty but the penalty phase was not pleasant. The judge sequestered us and made us stay til almost 9 PM on a Friday night and I had to get home from Center City Philadelphia to NE Philadelphia on my own. The El is scary on a Friday night. Thankfully he let us go as my birthday was the next day and my mom had a party planned for me. I would have hated to celebrate 21 locked up with a bunch of strangers.

I have been called quite a few times since then and I did go a couple times. One time during the interview process the judge called a recess, came back in and called my number. After asking me if my husband was a sheriff, and he was in the next door courtroom, I was dismissed immediately. I don't get picked for juries because my husband and son are both in law enforcement and I have an Associate's in Criminal Justice. I can get out of it now since I can claim I am my husband's caretaker. The city isn't worth it. The transportation cost to go downtown is more than they pay. Now Federal Jury Duty was fun. They had a 3 day or 1 trial policy the one time I was called. We were paneled for questioning but the defendant reached a plea deal overnight. It counted as our 1 trial and we were paid 3 days PLUS travel expenses. Easiest money I ever made and I got to go to my favorite Italian Bakery for cannoli's twice.

My grandson let me know his game was cancelled tonight. Neither he nor I was happy although my daughter will be, the boys have games every day this week. She went back to work Monday and wants to quit now. She is tired of the mean girl attitude of some co-workers. One had the audacity to talk about people not being vaccinated and one was right there in the OR. She knew it was my daughter and went on and on about horrible they are to endanger everyone. I was proud of my daughter. She responded it's me. The dr. asked her if she had a reason and wasn't she afraid of catching the virus. She told him she was just back from 3 weeks at home with it but yes she has a very good reason. She has an autoimmune disorder and it prone to clots because of it. The dr. agreed with her and the co-worker turned as red as my arms and shut up quickly. My daughter knows that she will need to get the vaccine eventually but she wants approval from her specialists first.

Oh well, hope everyone is having a good day.

All grocery shopping and errands done. It got very breezy and sunny, and the lawn dried out nicely. I just spent the last 1 1/2 hours mowing it again (after mowing it Saturday!). It is supposed to be halfway nice tomorrow..then rain Fri, Sat, and Sun. I am taking tomorrow off, lol.
Stopped at McDonald's and got the buy 1 get second for $1 specials. Hubby got quarter pounder w/cheese and I got a filet of fish and a big mac. We each had one for lunch and are going to have the other for dinner with Nathans fries. I am too tired to make more than that
Have a nice evening everyone

Finally got my little garden planted and the front yard mowed. DH turned over the dirt in the garden while I rode the front, Then he push mowed while I planted. Definitely a joint effort. And I cleaned all the windows inside. We will do the outside with a hose when it isn't raining.

While cleaning the kitchen windows, I took the curtains down. Unfortunately the brackets that hold the rod pulled out of the wall and need to be re-anchored.:worried:

And the guy came and finished repairing our fence, which was good.

Re: jury. I lived in Baltimore until I was 35. Never called for jury duty. Moved here to Cecil County and have been called at least 4 times. I was last called for November 2020 and was concerned about covid. I wrote a letter and was granted a postponement until February 2021 but they had stopped jury trials then. DH hasn't been called since we were married. Many court cases involve drug use and child custody. DD is often involved which would disqualify either of us if it was that type of case. Not sure if DS being Secret Service would impact us or not.

Making taco salad for dinner. Planned that before I realized it was Cinco de Mayo.

Yikes, Easyas that the actual cooler broke! I am very glad to hear there was not much water inside. I really was concerned the last time that something was very wrong with the cooler because of the very loud noises the motor was making. I don't see how that could have just been from one faulty bottle but it appears to have been, since we have not had that issue since. We get the 3 gallon which are heavy enough for Dad. I am not able to lift anything heavy.

How scary Taz Dev! I would not have liked being in that situation especially so young at all! I am truly glad all turned out okay especially for your 21st birthday! Wow that is very cool that you got relatively easy pay that way. I may have gone a second day one other time and that was sure it. Sorry your grandsons game got cancelled. Good for your daughter for standing up for herself!

Love that your Grandma was the lawyer's secretary, Lynn. That is a great "out." Dad a few times got out of serving because he worked for a major newspaper. Enjoy your dinner! :)

Carol, it would probably break my heart to be involved as a juror on a child abuse type case :'( Eek to the rod! I "liked your post" for your newly planted garden🌸

I see it is evening for most of you! So hope you are having a good one :) Here it's 3:10 and sunny!

Hey, Flying, I'm not sure if you've seen them, but they now make a bottom holder water cooler. We had (have) one, but it died 4 months in, so don't get that one, lol. (Primo model 601144. Dh never took it back to get it refunded, and now it's almost 3 years later and it's still sitting in the kitchen. We stopped using it anyways, because our water quality here is good.) Then you only have to scoot the bottle in, much easier than lifting.

They are on Amazon, or at Home Depot or Lowes. Just run a search for bottom water coolers. Sparklets won't care if you use your own (if you're renting theirs, you can stop and just get water delivered, I'm fairly certain.)

Thank you so much, B&B. I appreciate your suggestion (and you, of course, too) I am pretty sure Dad once did look into the bottom holder cooler and I don't remember why he chose to stick with what he always had. I'll have to ask him. Maybe it's cheaper? It sure is expensive to rent the cooler. I think the issue with purchasing our own would be (or at the time we looked into it, it was) that should something go wrong after a certain time we'd be stuck. I believe that was also true of buying the cooler from Sparkletts directly. I will check into all of this. Thank you again :)

the boys in my house have taken over the TV, flipping between baseball, hockey, and MLS soccer...so, I’m on the DIS. Was looking at new posts today, several interesting threads
- school districts next fall offering or not virtual learning
- getting your 14-18 vaccinated ,yeah or no
intresting to read people’s opinions, but I’m not commenting on those topics
happy thoughts
QOTD; your favorite memory of wearing a spring sundress/outfit or new pair of sandals

Hmm, going to Gabriel’s a discount clothing store and finding a really cute black and white sundress and white sandals I wore under my graduation gown. Win Win on price and style

i wear a lot of blue clothing, navy, bright blue and some purple. So a few years back i bought a bright green eyelet sundress and put fake white long strand of pearls with it to wear on Mother’s Day . I felt so young and pretty
