Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Is it wrong of me to hope the playing fields are too wet, after the snow yesterday ( which melted 4 hours later) . I usually walk the 1 mile track around all the soccer, baseball, and lacrosse fields, but it’s too chilly today. So, if i am stuck in the car, I guess, I can get my chapter book finished. Rather be at home making PB cookies or a side dish to go with hamburgers for dinner.

It has been flurrying here off and on today. The temp says 43 but with the wind it feels like 23. Spring has left for a while. Thankfully it should be back by the weekend. We did get Jasper's walk done and we did a short walk ourselves. Now we have to warm up. I have leftover homemade soup for supper so that will be really good.

Love the pictures of the lilacs. I love the smell of lilacs in the Spring. We had some at our old house. I miss them.

Have a nice evening!

I've felt cold most of today myself. It is supposed to be in the 80's a couple days next week :sunny: I hope it will warm up out there for all of you, too.

Time For You To Come Home for Christmas is on HM&M tonight. I don't think I saw that one. Just checked ahead Next Thursday the movie will be Christmas at Holly Lodge. Meanwhile back on Hallmark channel, tomorrow night's Christmas movie is Good morning Christmas (fighting TV hosts--can so without that lol) and next Friday will be Christmas in Vienna.

It's just after 2:30pm here yet could be so much later! Wishing all of you a cozy rest of the day.

I can't believe some of you guys are getting some snow. Here I've been complaining about being cold and it's 70° outside... Still windy today but not as bad and yesterday. The dogs are enjoying being able to go in and out as they please. When it's too windy(or cold), I keep the door shut so they have to wait for us to let them in and out.

I've been doing a lot of running around this week and I am exhausted. I was going to visit my mom yesterday but the truck service at the dealer ended up taking longer than expected so I thought I'd go today but got busy making phone calls all morning. Now I just remembered I have an appt tomorrow afternoon so I wouldn't have time to go tomorrow either. Geez...lol Visitor hours are until 8p so maybe I'll go this evening or for sure go this weekend. She's had more visitors lately so she's OK with me coming when I can.

I'm so glad you all liked my lilacs. I wish there was a way I could some with you all.

Just checking in. Was off line earlier because I had a family thing to go to, but so far, so good on the vaccine stuff. Had a bit of a headache mid-day, but was also in the car for quite a while and out in the pollen for quite a while, so not even positive it was related. Anyway, Tylenol and Gatorade took care of it.

It is cold here, but at least no snow!

I'm giving up on Hallmark movies for awhile..at least until we've caught up with some of our shows. Most Hallmark movies are all the same thing anyhow,,lol

I must admit, I have found it hard to get into the Hallmark movies. BUT I must also admit I've not watched one in a long, long time so I supposed I should give them another chance.

Off topic, I may not look at Vermont Country Store in the same way for a while and had no idea they specialized in such niche clothing!

I wasn't terribly hungry so I skipped dinner this evening, husband ended up having grilled cheese w/ cream of mushroom soup. I'll have the tomato soup for lunch tomorrow. I recall when I was pregnant with our eldest son, I was on a jobsite a few mornings a week and the only thing I could eat during my pregnancy for a while was campbells tomato soup, so I'd make a can of that every morning and put it in a thermos, sipping on it during the morning. That was the same project that we were putting a new water system in a small town on the Bay, many of the residents didn't have running water and many were not to happy to be forced by the county to tie into the new water system! They wanted to keep their shallow wells with pumps & outhouses. One of my jobs was sweet talking the old waterman into letting us do the work. I'm good with the old folks!

Have a good evening all!

Looking forward to some big events and travel this spring.

Sunday is Carter's baptism.
This coming week - 3 nights in Chincoteague, VA.
May 16 - Carter's first birthday party being held in our backyard because it is bigger than DD's.
Four nights over Memorial Day weekend - DD booked a VRBO house on one of the Finger Lakes in upstate NY.
First weekend in June - DD, DGD, and I are going for 2 night to CT for my niece's bridal shower. Just booked that hotel tonight.
Then later in the year....
Second weekend in September, have a VRBO house reserved in Maine for niece's wedding. 12 of us will be staying there. DD, her DH and 2 kids, DS and his wife, DH and I, and another family of 4 to stay with the kids who are not invited to wedding.
DH and I, and we invited his sister, are looking at a condo in Sanibel for late September or October.

It's nice to have some things to look forward to.

Is it wrong of me to hope the playing fields are too wet, after the snow yesterday ( which melted 4 hours later) .
No, it's not wrong. I thought the same thing a couple of weeks ago because I didn't want to sit out in the wind and cold. I've done my share with my kids and now it's time to begin with the GKs. I love watching the kids play whatever sport they are in but the cold bothers me more now than it used to.

Today was Western Day at preschool. The GKs were so excited. Lil Joe wore chaps, vest with star, neckerchief, cowboy hat and of course, cowboy boots. Lou Lou was a Lil Miss Fancy cowgirl with a bright blue tutu, yellow top with a cow print vest, neckerchief, cowgirl hat and boots. You should have see me trying to fit that tutu into her car seat. The tutu top and vest were all one piece. Whew! I had about 30 minutes to kill before parents/grandparents could join in the fun so I went to the post office, filled up my car with gas at Kroger and stopped at home for a change in outer wear. Was on the chilly side this morning and all activities were out doors. The kids had a blast, each class rotated through different stations. Petting zoo, tractor pulling a trailer ride, roasting marshmellows, stick pony rides, shucking corn to name a few. I was bushed going back and forth between Lil Joe and Lou Lou's groups. The boys in Lil Joe's group kept yelling that it was "the best day ever!". And it was!

As someone in my mid to late 30s who has never been on so much as a date, I pretty much refuse to watch Hallmark movies and read contemporary Christian fiction, because I'm so sick and tired of the "girl finds perfect match" and/or "God gives girl prefect guy." And even if it's not that plot exactly, it's "single girl longs to find mate," or "single girl has terrible luck with guys." WHY can't there be a strong single female lead where love or lack there of isn't the main focus?? Why can't she just be single and be happy about it and not even looking? And no, I don't mean "not looking, so guy looks for her," either. Just... let her be single without bringing relationships into it at all! (Okay. Sorry.... That's a bit of a pet peeve of mine, if you can't tell... Ha! 😆 ) And nothing against you if you like them. I promise. I just can't do them. And yes, I know for Hallmark, that is their genre. So I don't exactly expect Hallmark to produce a movie that doesn't mention love/relationships.

LOL yours was the first post I saw this morning,,and I know what you are referring to. That new member had some very odd, and disgusting first posts. I reported all of them ,and I see that they are gone this morning. People come up with the strangest things to post on the DIS, don't they? For those of you who missed it..the person posted a link to Vermont Country Store, and had some ladies underwear suggestions, along with some rude comments, about it!

Good morning all. I don't know what it is with the DIS,,but if I attempt to get on here before 5 am, I get that blank white page, saying the DIS isn't available. Maybe they are doing updates every morning after the hack? Its cold again here, frost on the ground, frozen birdbaths. Temp is 33, going to 57. One more freezing night overnite, then temps going back to normal. The outside cats will appreciate that. They were all waiting outside the back door for dry food, warm water, and their morning dishes of canned food.

I think I am going to start on the kitchen spring cleaning. I will clean out the cabinets, wipe everything down, do the stove and fridge and then decide if my back/knee will let me do more than that..
Back to sleep for an hour now, or till hubby wakes up..
Have a nice morning!!

There was a period some time ago when that used to happen - daily maintenance or backing up posts or something. They try to time it to cause the least inconvenience, but with folks posting from all over the world, there really isn’t a perfect window.

Feeling good two days post-vaccine. Out with the cat right now, then planning to go to the post office and grocery store, and clean the bathrooms. Tomorrow will be curriculum planning for next week. And then a rest day Sunday before it’s back to a normal schedule.

@lynxstch I've had that too, the last few mornings. /shrug Just means I go to other sites at that time, and circle back here.

Feeling 100% today. Walked a little over a mile yesterday, with new shoes (Teva sandals) and a headache, so I think it's a win. Will got for 2 miles today, I promise. ;) Maybe. :rotfl: I have another pair of shoes to try (Sketchers sandals). It's not as cool as it was yesterday (we were up to 66, and today will be up to 75). A bit more humid too.

Going to the post office to pick up an Amazon package (DH did the wardrobe thing on there), and then to Publix for his breakfast sandwiches, which are on sale, and then Fresh Market for some crab cakes for our lunch/dinner. Maybe I'll get brioche rolls or something and make crab cake sandwiches. Yesterday was baked chicken and (roasted asparagus for me, broccoli cheese for DH; DS was sick all day, so he had soup), and I have leftover veggies, so maybe I'll just reheat those too, and then throw together a spinach salad.

We have some masks coming today from Under Armor; they are the sport ones, that are supposed to be good in hot weather for athletes, so we're hoping they'll be good in hot weather for us. :genie: I also have some packages from Academy sports coming this weekend, with some 'fishing' shirts (moisture wicking, sun blocking) and shorts for me, pants for DS (he doesn't like showing his legs, very self conscious of his changes still, but these can be turned into shorts if wanted) and a similar shirt for DH (he already has 3). We are going to be the weirdos at WDW at the end of June/beginning of July with long sleeves and pants, lol. :rotfl2: I have a hat coming too, that is supposed to help 'cool down' when wet, so we'll see...at least it'll be shade. :umbrella:

I saw the 'unusual posts' and just ignored the person, straight away. I am glad that there is no limit to how many people you can ignore on here, because I have a quite a few. If I get so frustrated with a person, I just use that little tool, and no more frustration for me! It seems to have gotten quite a workout the last 18 months, lol. The boards seem less busy, but more tailored to my...tastes. :scratchin Might seem mean, but there are some people I just do not want to deal with, and that's the easiest way to do it. Now, if only I could avoid one particular person (unfortunately, he's un-ignoreable....power sometimes :ssst: )......

Have a good day everyone!

It's nice to have some things to look forward to.

That we can agree on for sure! Looks like a nice list of getaways you've got yourself!

Well, I royally jacked up my back somehow. That sort of can't take a deep breath or sit up straight muscle kind of ache. Not sure what I did or when it happened, all I know is I went to put on my sweatshirt this morning and boom! There it was. I'm hoping some stretching and not sitting still or tight all day helps. I'll apply some heat and a cocktail later this evening if it's still bothering me;)

By pure coincidence I wasn't able to sleep this morning and turned the TV on about 20 minutes prior to the launch - I must have been watching something on the Science channel last night because that is the channel that was on - so I got to watch the launch live which was pretty cool.

Good morning.

@lynxstch, you do cleaning on a regular basis that I don't even think about. I think you would view my house as filthy. (It really isn't.)

@easyas123, I wish I had known about the launch ahead but wasn't paying any attention to the news. I had trouble sleeping last night and was awake but didn't turn on the tv until 6.

@Allison Joy, I totally understand your feeling on Hallmark and Chick Lit and can chose not to watch. I try not to watch crime dramas and medical shows now even though I used to like them. Too much like the news. DH is always watching CNN and it drives me nuts. I watch Hallmark because they are all the same and have a happy ending which is what I need to see right now.
