Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Stay warm friends! Here it's not snowy like for some of you but it sure has been a cool, gray day which makes it feel so much later than it is!

When setting a show to record, I have seen the option to "record series." I've never done that because I might not want to watch each and every episode of a particular HGTV show! The only time this would have been handy was before the current/new price is right started to air and I would set it each week. I should try this for sale of the Century (I recorded that every weekday). Thank you for the idea, Lynn. I'm sorry you and Easyas are having/have had backlog/too many shows recorded trouble. Although right now....sort of like books too many recorded choices might not always be a bad thing!

Have a good night everyone :)

Speaking of dinner - does anyone else have this problem? We have gotten into the bad habit of sitting in our chairs and eating in front of the TV instead of at the table. Yeah it's easy and convenient, but I'm starting to feel lazy, like maybe we should make a effort. Set two place settings, turn away from the TV, share a meal over the table. We used to make a effort - TV always turned off during dinner- I think this evening I will start to try to make that effort again, at least during the weeknights.
When we became empty nesters in 2009, we began eating dinner on the couch and watching tv just because it was more comfortable. Then when my mom moved in with us in 2017 we went back to sitting at the table. It was a hard adjustment but we did it. DD and GKs moved in 2018 so we still sit at the table. I imagine though that we will gravitate back to the couch once DD has gotten her own place. We already talk a lot so sitting at the table is not a big deal.

@AuntieMe3, your Lilac bush is lovely. I wish we could grow them here but it gets too hot here for them.

I watch what's new coming on regular tv and set our DVR to record all new shows for that series. Sometimes it's recorded most of the first season before I get a chance to watch and if I don't like what I see then I have to erase all that was recorded. If I only record the series premiere I usually end up having to set the DVR to record new and reruns to try and get all the episodes because I rarely watch the premiere the same week it's on.

I'm currently watching a show on Netflix called Schtisel. I watched a limited series on Netflix about a Jewish girl leaving her community so Schtisel came up as a suggestion to watch. I'm enjoying it even though they all speak Hebrew and I have to read the sub titles.

My tomatoes did well overnight. Temps will be in the 40's tonight so nothing to be concerned about. It was pretty chilly this morning. Today was sunny but breezy which kept it a little cooler than we usually are. Our normal temps are in the upper 70's during the day this time of year.

Dinner tonight was crockpot roast, mashed potatoes and roasted brussel sprouts.

We ended up driving up to the Lancaster area of PA. DH had a clock being repaired by a man up there. Then he wanted to look for some rail-trails. Just drove around smelling the newly spread manure. LOL Drove through some rain and lots of wind. Stopped in Rockvale at CFA then Reading China and Glass at the outlets before coming home.

Dinner was left over turkey in the form of hot turkey sandwiches.

Re: dinner time. That is something we were always fairly strict about when the kids were home. DH was home almost every night for dinner, except the one night a week he had evening office hours. Dinner was the 4 of us sitting down without TV on. Only exception was something special like the Super Bowl or a moon landing. Since empty nesters, no change. And we still say grace. Even bought a new kitchen table a year ago to have a nicer one. Reading is allowed at breakfast and lunch but dinner is for conversation.

Speaking of conversation, after 36 years of marriage, we may have hit an all time low this afternoon. At one of the trail heads, we each needed to use the port-a-potty. We had a 5 minute conversation about how it was the nicest port-a-potty we had ever been in. Clean. Smelled good. Well stocked with TP and hand sanitizer. LOL

@AuntieMe3, beautiful lilacs. I wish I could smell them.

Later night for me check in.

It is the communication and care that matter, Kirby indeed! Hug, my friend. Does not have to be over a meal.

LOL Carol, pre pandemic, I sure used a lot of public restrooms while out. Not all of them were well maintained either :P That is so important.

Sweet Dreams!

Good chilly morning all. Its currently 33 degrees, and there is a light dusting of snow on top of the car and the top of my herb box, which is still covered with it's winter tarp! Going to be near 50 today, but cold again the next 2 nights. By Tuesday they are showing us as being 83 degrees? Hubby got up at 4 am, which of course threw off both my and the cats schedules. Apparently he's staying up and not going back to bed :( I am still tired from Tuesday's work, so will be taking it easy again today. My right ankle is sore, which is a new one, I must have stepped wrong while mowing.

@Breezy_Carol lol at your porta potty conversation, that made me bust out laughing!

Have a nice morning all!

We hover around 70% in our DVR too. But I tend to keep favorite "watched" things on purpose (movies mostly) so it's not all new.

If it hits 75%, I get nervous; if it nears 80%, I start deleting stuff; but if it gets down to 60% or 65%, I've proud of myself. :rotfl:

Full Disclosure - our DVR has all 8 HP movies, all 3 LOTR movies and all 3 Hobbit movies "permanently" saved:smooth:

Husband had already purchased a few plants for the garden, but hadn't put them in yet thankfully! He is a till and contemplate kinda guy - gotta lay everything just so...so he was able to bring them up to the house. I had planted a new clematis and two vines but I think they made out okay. I think we have one more overnight tonight/tomorrow AM of cold-cold and then we should be in the clear around here (I hope).

@KingLlama:welcome: That is exactly what this thread is about. Started a year ago. A place to share highs and lows without repercussions. No politics. Do Mountain Dews mean a stress filled day? Hope all is well and come visit any time.

My lilacs...:lovestruc this is the back of the bush and it looks soo pretty.

This is the front and not as full but still pretty.

Smells incredible. It's cold and super crazy windy again today or else I would be out there cutting some for inside the house.

So pretty! Lilacs are my absolute favorite flower; Lilies come in 2nd.

Feeling much better today (from the vaxx). Still have a pretty bad headache, but tylenol and lots of water are keeping knocking it down; other than that, just normal aches and pains. Old age..... :rotfl2:

Free birthday stuff (in case anyone is thinking they need free birthday stuff from companies :cool1: ):
Target 5% off a shopping trip; Yankee Candle, free candle up to $26.50; Grove, free soaps on next order; Starbucks, free item (got my coffee, lol); Pizza Hut, free breadsticks (probably won't use this one); Tijuana Flats, free dessert; Nintendo, free 300 silver coins; and Bing gave me a light up birthday cake on my browser for the day, lol.

I have no idea what this thread about, but I felt like it was as good a place as any to share that I have already had one Diet Mountain Dew today, and I'm probably gonna need about three more.

It's gonna be that kind of day.

Welcome KingLlama!
Hope your afternoon goes smoother...I'm not a soda pop person, but you go ahead and indulge in that third Mt. Dew! Some days just require a little something more...

It was spitting snow here this morning, my husband was beyond disgusted - as if the weather Gods themselves had conspired to foul up his morning :rolleyes2 but the sun is out so even though it's quite chilly, at least it looks warm!

Going with a tomato basil soup & grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner this evening. I need to get some house cleaning chores taken care of afternoon work so this should be a easy and quick meal to put together when the time comes.

Still spitting some snow flurries here too..and it's cold and windy. We cleared more shows off the tivi, and I am going to put the portable greenhouse I bought yesterday together. When Mother Nature decides to cooperate again, I can put all of my tomato seedlings outside in it till they are big enough for the garden.
Soup and sandwiches for dinner sounds like a plan to me @easyas123--I may just steal that idea!
