Good Morning, Friends :)

I also like the compass idea! I think I may have sticker that says "Jesus is the Way" with a compass type drawing on it. I'll look and if you'd like, Carol, can send it to you sometime :)

It's cold but sunny here as well. I hope the gloves work out from Amazon when they come later today.

Warm hug to all!

I think when a child is Baptized does depend on the denomination and also in some cases individual church and family preference. I also think depending on perhaps how active or a part of a church community a family is might be a determining factor as well. At my current church, most children as infants are Christened into the church family during a regular worship service. As a child heads toward graduating elementary school is when during Lent they are able to take a class to learn more about our specific church. Easter Sunday during our Sunrise service is when most child and adult Baptisms occur. I've shared before that God-willing I'd love to help make my church more connected among members and community so that children especially can more fully grow up and in their faith being active and knowing their church family. Interesting to read different experiences and practices :)

Have a good afternoon, all!

We are at 61 sunny degrees...cats are all basking in the sun.

All of my cleaning is done. I just did a beauty treatment and used up the last of my Bath and Body Works lilac shower gel. Years ago I had won a $100 gift certificate (this was long before gift cards), and I had stocked up on all of my favorite scents. I am glad I did, as they no longer have many of my favorites. I now smell like a big bouquet of lilacs, lol.
Fed Ex was just here with my Chewy order. It was supposed to be here between 9 and 12,,she made it by 2:30. I was surprised to see a girl doing it..her truck was still almost half full..and all of it was Chewy boxes. She said she is going to be so sore tonite she won't be able to move :(
I had to order from them as Walmart and Giant (Martins), still have empty canned cat food shelves. I hope that gets resolved soon!

Dinner is going to be some sort of chicken and rice casserole (or so hubby says), and then I plan on not moving tonite. But I got a lot done!

@flyingdumbo127,,,Mona, I'm sorry you are still so cold..I can't believe that Southern CA is that chilly in March! Warm up my friend!

Just popped back, thank you Lynn! It's more this apartment is so cold than necessarily outside. Though it definitely is not warm out there! Overnight it has been in the 40's, yikes! Prayers for the FedEx driver indeed! :) Lilacs are a good thing to smell like!

Gratitude:

Remembering that I already have an extra set of jersey sheets (the ones with the tiny hole that Target.com reimbursed us for and kindly let us keep) I am all about my comforter but so appreciate a warm inside bed, too!

PM's from friends and kind posts on here, too :)
Thinking about/keeping in prayer future role at either my current church or a new one

Been working on cleaning up woodwork from painting last weekend. Not fun and my nails are a mess, not that i paint them anyway. Just stopped for a break and some popcorn as a snack. Tonight the boy scouts are cooking for me - local sphagettti and meatballs dinner takeout.

Gifts - i like personalized items. Usually a jewelry box for the girls, boys compass sounds great. my mom use to buy a white bonnet from the Christian bookstore with blue ribbon or pink ribbon for the child to wear at the christening and then the bonnet /hat could be turned into a handkerchief to use on their wedding day.

Citrus blooms are also a good thing to smell like...my gratitude is that I have the blooms, because in Oregon we had a hedge of lilac b.ooms, wil fill the house with boquets in the april open window breeze....but I can't boquet the citrus blooms.....no oranges for Curtis if tha happens. 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌵🌈🌵🌴🌴🌴🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍋🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍋🍊🍊🍊🍊🍋🌲🌲🌲🌲

In the Methodist church, baptism is the parents or guardians accepting God for the child and professing to raise the child in the church. Then at usually somewhere 13-16 years old, the child can take confirmation class and profess their faith and be confirmed into the church. If someone want to join the church and hasn't been baptized, they can be baptized as an adult before joining the church. (I hope I have my theology right.)

I cleaned up a mess in the garage this afternoon. We have a set of wooden IKEA shelves in the garage for storage. A lot of cleaners, bug spray, yard tools, etc. A bottle of some kind of concentrated cleanser that DH brought home from his office was on the top shelf (of course) and sprung a leak. By the time we noticed it had shared the cleanser with all the shelves below it. That was fun.

DH just headed out to get carry out for dinner.

Well, I tried watching the Scavenger Hunt movie and could not get caught up into it. I usually like (when positive) seeing the relationship between an adult child and their parents or grandparents when an adult child comes home for Christmas in a movie. I felt the acting of those characters in this movie were lacking, oh well.

I love that your Mom did that Sparkle. How neat to be able to carry an item like that from childhood on your wedding day.

Chickapin parterre, that sounds so nice and Springy.

I really like that way of handling Baptism, Carol because it evolves over the child's life and is driven by both the family and church.

Good morning everyone. Well, if we lost an hour's sleep, then I am right on schedule. I woke at exactly 5, which would have been my normal 4 yesterday, lol. The outside cats are thrown off though..none of them are around for breakfast which is odd. Hubby just got up, so he did lose an hour, since he isn't normally up for another hour. I need a little more sleep, all that cleaning tired me out yesterday. Going to try and do a few more things today, then work on my puzzle, while I still have the time.
The weather will be nice all the time soon, and there will be too many outside chores to get done, along with all the inside ones. Makes me tired just thinking about it. Going to put a pork roast in the crockpot later so dinner will be mostly taken care of.
Have a nice Sunday morning~~

🐣 The renovations, fences, windows, movies, births, vaccines, flowers, travel, etc., are all very nice to read about. I can really feel a sense that some parts of our lives are starting to get back to normal a bit, finally, after the year we had! Easter will be here before we know it! 🐰🎀 🍬

Also did some spring cleaning this weekend, and shopping. Picked up the makings of a corned beef and cabbage dinner for tonight to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Toto came to us on that day seven years ago so his color is green! ☘ I’ve had a problem with my eye for the last several days but it’s getting better.

Gratitudes: Sunny days with a hint of spring in the air; good medical care; love of family. ❤

DS’s girlfriend cooked us a mahi dinner the other night. I had never had it before but it was delicious: Mahi (done on our flat grill) with jerk seasoning over coconut rice with sautéed vegetables and mango. (Lots of recipes online with different variations.) The mango gave it a citrus-y taste which was a nice contrast to the heat of the jerk. It wasn’t fishy at all, which was a bonus. Mahi was in a bag from Wegman’s, frozen. Will definitely buy it again.

Good morning one & all. Got lots on the agenda today: yard work, gates to paint, general straightening up.
Going to start with taking Cali for a walk down to the dumpster, then making a late breakfast and I'll go from there. This daylight savings day always goes by fast for me, then tomorrow or Tuesday evening I'll be wiped out - all from 1 hour!

Morning everyone.

Waiting for my grandson to call that he is on his way to my house so we can rent the tile saw and the backsplash will be going up today. His boss is also coming by to do the plumbing and hook up the sink to the dishwasher and garbage disposal. We are in the home stretch. I should have checked the dishwasher when it was installed as there is a very small ding at the bottom. I may call and complain but I am willing to accept the ding. It is that or wait til May or later now for the dishwasher.

Pea-n-me that sounds like a delicious dinner. I can't eat fish though, it gags me. My mom forced us to eat fish twice a week and I always got the piece with all the bones. When we were in Scotland she made me try a piece of Salmon and I gagged although I really did try to like it. Funny story though, when I was a teenager I went to Florida with my grandmother to visit relatives. My grandmothers cousins lived in Jensen Beach and back then you could swim in the ocean and fish at the same time. I loved it because I had never been surf fishing before. I caught a Barracuda. Under a certain size you can eat them otherwise they are poisonous. My catch was a small one and my cousin Henry caught a fish or two. We had been crabbing the night before, again a great experience, you just walk on the beach with a flashlight and scoop the crabs up with the net. I also saw a Loggerhead Turtle nest hatching. Anyway for dinner that night we were having the fish and crabs. I tried to get away with I don't feel good but my grandmother was going to force me to eat. My 2X great Aunt Elsie made her daughter find me something else to eat. While they had fish I had leftover spaghetti. I loved my Great Aunt Elsie.

As far as the baptism I like to give a cross that the baby can wear as they get older. In our church Baptism is usually done as infants. My kids were all baptized at 6 weeks old. My rector at the church I went to from the time I was 13 changed the rules by the time my grandkids came along. He went by some timetable that Baptism could only be done on certain Feast Days. I was not happy about that and he wouldn't budge. The rector at my church now is a little more lenient about that rule so far, although he does prefer the Feast Day timetable. We are hoping to open the church back up as people get the vaccine. Hopefully then we can get LJ baptized. My mom was very excited to hear that they want him baptized and raised with the church. She will even pick them up and take them home if my grandson can't do it as she lives closer to them than I do.

Well I am off to my coffee and wait for my grandson. Hopefully I will have pics tonight of the completed kitchen. Have a great Sunday all.

Lol, that’s why I said it wan’t fishy. I don’t like that, either! I even told DD, who gags at seafood (which is a little weird seeing we live in fresh seafood country) that I thought she’d like it. It reminded me of flaky chicken, but lighter. Great story!

Good morning.

Happy Pi Day!

We are going to UDairy Creamery for "lunch." They have a slice of pie and scoop of ice cream for $3.14.

Sunny out and dry but windy. DD and family are coming this afternoon so DSIL can help DH move something. We can play in the yard but no fire today. I am making chili for dinner. DD wanted to be sure I made plenty because little Carter is eating a lot these days.

@Pea-n-Me, the mahi dinner looks delicious.

I talked to our pastor a few months ago about getting Carter baptized, just getting info for DD and I talk to the pastor more often. She said that in the Methodist church it is important for there to be a congregation present for the baptism so she couldn't just baptize him without others present. The church is trying to reopen for a limited number of people at the start of May. She is having 2 "soft opening" services in April, new members on the 18th and Carter's baptism on the 25th. Limited numbers and the pews are marked with green dots where people can sit.

Have a great Sunday quackers!

Happy Pi day, everyone!!

I kind of miss it being on a school day. (Though this year, I have kindergarten, so I couldn’t have done much with it anyway. 😆 )

In years when I subbed for middle or high school, it was always a nice break from their regular work. And my favorite was a particular third grade class that had been having a contest to memorize digits. They really amazed me!

Good Morning Quackers,

I've enjoyed getting caught up on plans, Baptisms, and daily stuff, too, thank you always for sharing :) Lynn, I love your Mickey bowl!

So far today just might feel more timeless than usual due to the time change. It's almost 10am here yet because it's not very light outside feels later which contributes to the timeless feel. Grateful to have slept well. Sometimes a time change can immediately through me off sleep-wise.

Enjoy a pie (or some other type) of treat today and have a good one! 🐥
