This morning DD and I saw the four New England Patriots buses with a police escort on the highway in Boston headed to Logan Airport, presumably headed to the Super Bowl. It happened too quickly to get a picture but it looked pretty cool. They took some frontline healthcare workers with them as a thank you, which was nice.

I heard about that on the news this morning. - I do think its nice of them. :goodvibes

Great news @flyingdumbo127 about your dad! I am happy to report that FIL got his first shot as well, and MIL has her appointment later this week.

@Pea-n-Me " This morning DD and I saw the four New England Patriots buses with a police escort on the highway in Boston headed to Logan Airport, presumably headed to the Super Bowl. It happened too quickly to get a picture but it looked pretty cool. They took some frontline healthcare workers with them as a thank you, which was nice. In a way, even though not a gushing fan, I am happy for Tom Brady that he can prove himself a winner without the Patriots and without “cheating”, etc. (From what I understand, this is at least partly why he made the move?) As I said, I don’t follow football but it seems like more people like him now that he‘s not in New England anymore. I was reading about how sales of Bucs merchandise, especially his, are through the roof. "

That is pretty cool...I am wondering if they went down to watch Brady play? If so, I think that's pretty decent of them, because they were all pretty upset when he said he was retiring, and then joined the Buc's. Wonder if Belichick went too,,bet he was really ticked at Brady for deserting the Patriots, lol. I wish both teams luck, hope they play a fair game, with fair ref's who don't treat one team better than the other, as has happened a lot this season.

Our snow was quite heavy but didn't accumulate much. NOw the sun is out and it's melting.

Dad was able to make an appointment for Moderna shot #1 in 2 weeks at a Rite Aid near us.
Great!

I also just got an appointment for my first vaccine for Wednesday. Who thought I'd be so excited for this. Got the email from the health department and dropped everything to get an appointment before they were filled.

Spent too much time on this and dinner won't be ready in time. Better get moving.

Thanks, Snowysmom, please stay warm--Jasper, too! A fun day to shop for grandkid toys sounds great.

Aw, that is awesome, Easyas. A very kind gesture of the Patriots owner. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you all for my Dad. I'll share how that goes for him. Prayers all of you who are looking to get it either for yourself or a loved one are able to and that it all goes smoothly!

I’m suppose to get the email tomorrow to sign up for a shot this coming Friday. i work in a school system. a couple of tips:
do NOT take Tylenol before hand , let it work, then maybe take 6 hours after if sore
most report being very tired or fevered for 24 hours, then fine so don’t plan much the next day
drink lots and lots of water the morning of the shot

if you hear any more tips, let me know by Thursday. Thanks

🙏all goes well for you, Sparkle! Great idea to share tips.

I did watch both Love at Harbor Island (I liked better) and The Secret Ingredient. I loved the Inn in Harbor Island and how the community "got" that what made their town special was its people and their care for each other. The Secret Ingredient, I did fast forward at parts but I did like that the family restaurant remained family owned at the end and that the parents were part of the story like the Aunt was in the other movie. I have shared with some of the Christmas movies how I would have preferred the relatives of the person inheriting or taking over some long-held business to have been alive and well so it was nice to finally see that with this story.

Have a good evening everyone!

Good morning all! WTG Buccanneers!!!!! Congrats to Tom Brady on his 7'th Super Bowl win. Was a great game if you were rooting for the Bucs, not so much for the Chiefs.

Its a lovely 16 degrees outside,,brrr. Going to be 38 again. I may get to work on my puzzle again. After 1 1/2 hours yesterday I managed to find all the edge pieces (after going through 1000 pieces 3x, checking every piece), and get the whole outside done. Was missing 1 piece and it got very aggravating trying to find it. I think this is the first 1000 piece one I've done.

No plans for the day as of yet, think I'm going back to sleep for an hour or so first.

Have a great Monday!Read82d4450353d17c8311a8c25e860ba.gif

What a long morning! Puff! like that, it's almost 1.
I do like a fast paced day every once in a while, really feel like you've got something done, and that I have.

I did just finish a audio book some of you may enjoy, it's a very fast 'read' - only 6 hours. In the spring/summer/fall seasons I like audio books to listen to while I'm in the tractor, since I tend to spend hours in there. But unless I have to be in the car for a long time I don't usually listen there - last week I had to spend a fair bit in the car one day so had this book ready. It's a short memoir from a Iranian Jewish woman born to a English Mother & Iranian father, who was born and grew up in Tehran during the time of the Shah and thru the revolution and then thru the invasion of Iran by Saddam Hussein & Iraq. It's a very enlightening and interesting glimpse into the before & after of restrictions placed on education, ethnic and religious minorities and simply being a female teenager where things changed so drastically. If anyone is interested, it's called Miniskirt to Hijab if anyone is interested.

And speaking of media, I still haven't carved out time to watch the new episodes of All Creatures! I really want to make time to do this soon. We stumbled upon the fact that there is a 9th season of Doc Martin - if anyone here is a fan, it's on Amazon/BritBox or Acorn - and a 10th season is scheduled to start filming soon. I want to make time to watch that, too. ///////We love Martin Clunes. I feel like I need a solid week to go thru what I've got saved to watch and what I want to watch...and even if I magically had that week I'd probably go nuts if I had to watch TV for a week straight! I should maybe dedicate a 2 hour block every weekend to watching something new, and not recording anything else until I do so...2 hours seems doable!

I do have a fun chore later this afternoon, I'm going to pick up some sketches my grandfather made. I stumbled upon them folded up in a book several years ago. I finally got around to taking them to a professional framing shop 2 weeks ago. I think they'll look nice in the conference room area of the suite of offices my brothers & I share at work. I can't wait to see how they turned out! They are just simple sketches of planes, but they mean a lot to us as we three idolized our grandfather, and followed in his professional footsteps.

Good news, speaking of offices. My credenzas arrived and I've had them brought up and placed in my office along one long wall. Fits just right and I've been able to make good use of the storage, packing away all the stuff I needed to. The vertical filing cabinet arrived damaged, so I'm just waiting to get that sorted out and then I'll have my files out of boxes and finally be done this office move.

Trying to check in again to help keep our thread bumped up. Hope everyone who hasn't posted yet today is okay!

Yikes, Carol, that is quite a mail delay! Plus it did not have to travel all that far to get to you.

Adding a QOTD to hopefully get more discussion! This is sort of a spin off of Easyas' earlier book recommendation post. I always appreciate reading each of your book and also TV thoughts. I was thinking about this earlier with the also recent Kristin Hannah thread. Here goes, QOTD for Monday 2/8 Do you re-read any books (or re-watch any movies/TV shows) by season each year?

I don't really other than all of you already know I so enjoy a lot of the Hallmark Christmas movies! I will re-watch this coming Christmas season at least a few "goodies" from last year such as "It's Time for Us to Come Home for Christmas" and "Christmas in Angel Falls." One day post plague some December, I will enjoy re-reading from the library Kristin Hannah's Comfort and Joy. I do have some Boxcar children books that I've held onto. A few of them are semi seasonal such as one story that takes place at Pilgrim Village (I think it is a fictitious account of the real Plimoth Plantation). I also remember enjoying some of the beach stories by Mary Alice Monroe and Luanne Rice. Most of all and dearest to me, every Christmas Eve, I read from the Gospel of Luke in the Bible. I also read this at other times of the year as well! How about all of you? :)

Small group today. Is everyone recovering from Super Bowl? Not to discount those who are here.

I got a Christmas card in the ail today. It was mailed December 14 from Massachusetts. That is 8 weeks. 😲

For some reason, it seems to be just MD having the biggest issue. I was mailed a new bank card on Jan 25, from Oakland, which is about 45 min from here. I haven't received it yet. I got a letter today with hair color coupons in it,,dated Dec 15, and it wasn't postmarked in Baltimore till Jan 26, and it still never got here till today. Our mail carrier was delivering Christmas cards last week too!

QOTD I don't really reread books ever. And most of the time I don't rewatch movies from another season. If I have seen a Hallmark Christmas one, I don't watch it again. I just deleted the last 2 unwatched from this year, as I have about 4 of the 'winter' ones to watch. I am getting a little tired of watching movies anyhow. Have been trying to work on my puzzle, but my eyes will only let me do it for a short period of time. And I find I can see it better wearing my old over the counter glasses, than my new reading ones, lol!

I'm sorry you are still having mail troubles, too, Lynxstch. LOL, I admit when I read "Oakland" I immediately though as in CA. Very good point. There really aren't many movies I will have the patience/desire to watch again. Books are different though especially if they are tried and true enjoyable ones. Hug on your new glasses. I am glad though you have a back up in the old!

Mail came and brought some a couple Valentine's from friends along with pretty return address labels from another.

Have a good later afternoon/evening, friends.
