Starting to wrap today.

I've got all the bags & wrapping paper I need, but haven't carved out time to wrap yet. I need a few more stocking stuffers, once I have everything I'll start to wrap.

Hogan speaks again today at 4.

Thanks for the heads up -

My brother called last night. He is an ophthalmologist in CT. He told me he is getting the vaccine on Thursday. His wife, a nurse, isn’t sure she wants to take it.:confused3 I plan to take it as soon as I can.

I have two immediate family members who are nurses...one in NJ, one in MD. The one in NJ will not be mandated as a condition of her employment (last I heard at least) to get the vaccine, and she's not inclined to get it. I think she may change her mind though. The one in MD is mandated by her employer (major hospital system) to get it, but she's all for it. Not sure when it will be available for either to take...I'm going to be in line to get it as soon as I can I think, although I'm not in either of the first two groups, so it won't be anytime soon.

I do wonder if when they schedule you for both the initial shot & the booster at the same time -that way you know you are locked in for an appointment to get the booster in a few weeks or whatever the time interval is. I'd hate to get the first one, then not be able to get in to get the second one! I guess someone is working out those details!

Chilly afternoon here in Philly. I am braving the store this afternoon as it is my usual shopping day. I hate dealing with the "old" people to begin with, the day before a projected storm is brutal. My grocery store doesn't have a huge parking lot so finding a space is always fun on the best days.

I can't wait to get my grandsons today after school. Evidently Santa is making a stop accompanied by the police from the local district. My youngest grandson LOVES the police and wants to be one when he grows up. He is going to be so excited. They also have gifts for them so the parents were advised to pick up the children today, it will be to much to walk home with.

I just got a bassinet for my great grandchild, brand new and absolutely free. Someone advertised on the local facebook page and I jumped on it. My grandson and his wife are going to love it. I can't go to the shower because the venue will have to many people there, his mother invited between 50 and 75 and I cannot risk my husband's health. My grandson is not happy either because he is concerned for his wife and the baby. I still find saying his wife weird. I think of him as my little guy I took to Disney with me and now he is a grown man. Where did that time go???

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Chilly afternoon here in Philly.

We've enjoyed the Christmas Market in Love Park (I think that is where it was??) in the past and we are looking forward to maybe going next year. A lot of my family lives right across the river in Riverton/Cinnaminson/Palmyra area:wave2: As a kid my father & his buddies used to swim across the river and scale the ships...a long time ago in a different world.

I just got a bassinet for my great grandchild, brand new and absolutely free.

That's a great get! Nice work...sorry you will be missing the shower, but these days are bringing more and more difficult decisions, aren't they? Good wishes for a healthy and safe great grandbaby. I don't have any grands, unless grand chickens count:P

Waving hi, hope all of you are having a good afternoon (for most of you--still morning here) Christmas cards are all mailed, yay.

TazDev, hug, I'm glad you'll get to see your grandkids. I'm sorry you'll miss the baby shower but that was a safe and wise choice! I am surprised there are so many who are attending. Prayers all stay safe especially baby to be!

Easyas123, one extra thing I love about the Hallmark movies is most feature the town and church sponsoring Christmas time festivals and markets. I would so love to be part of and browse at one! Of course, grand chickens count, lol! :)

@tazdev3225 , I can't believe they are having that many at a shower. No way I'd attend. That is just not safe. DD had a baby in May, her second so no shower anyway, but her friend was pregnant for the first time with twins and her shower was cancelled. I knitted hats and sent them even though I don't know her well because I felt so bad for her.

Everyone is busy getting ready for the holidays. We wrapped the grandkids gifts except the books and clothes. Now onto the kids and then I have to wrap DH and the 3 dogs gifts-Jasper and 2 grand dogs. We still have to decorate the tree and DH will set up the mantel. He has next week and the week after off. He can work around the house while I work. I'm off Christmas Eve and Christmas then New Year's Day.

DH and I are in Phase 2 of the vaccine schedule for our state. We are near the bottom of phase 2 so we are looking at Feb-March time frame. Older DS will be getting it Monday. I don't think his hospital mandates it at this point but he works in the covid areas sometimes so it is important that he gets the vaccine.

We are expecting 8-12 inches of snow which really means at least a foot. DH fired up the snow blowers today to be sure he is ready to go on Thursday. Winter is here!

Supper is leftover Pasta Fagioli soup. It is a good night for soup.

@Breezy_Carol --For @lynxstch and @easyas123 , Hogan speaks again today at 4.

All he talked about was the vaccine..and guess what? He wasn't 'wearing the damn mask' again. I just went through the living room, and there was a commercial on..it was Hogan..all about wearing the mask..why isn't he practicing what he is preaching?

It sure feels like it's going to snow out there, Pretty cold, but my bad knee still isn't aching, so it's either going to be nothing, or be so much my knee doesn't know how to react, lol!
Stay safe out there!

Quack! Quack! Quack! Reminds me of The Mighty Ducks movie. My kids (and I) watched that movie a lot when they were younger.

I miss all the Christmas markets I usually attend during the Fall leading up to the Christmas season. That's where I get a lot of stocking stuffers. Fortunately I bought too many last year so I had some to fall back on this year. I always put chapstick in everyone's stocking too.

Weather was overcast today. I looked outside a while ago and it had been raining. I thought it was supposed to be sunny all week. Wow! I just checked the 10 day forecast and it's a chance of rain every day. Oh well, we need it.

My sister called and checked on my mom. The nurse said she was currently showing no symptoms, no coughing, no temperature. As for me, I have run a low grade temp on and off today, had a runny nose plus done a little coughing. Mountain cedar is high right now so that could account for most of that. Hopefully I will receive my test results overnight. That when it usually comes. I've been wearing a mask all day, washing my hands a lot. Slept in another room last night. No one got me up this morning so I slept in. That was nice.

I really liked the Mighty Ducks movies, too, Kirby :) So thankful to hear your Mom is doing okay. Prayers for her continuing and of course for you!

You better get results this time, Carol and negative ones at that! So glad you are done and got a treat afterwards.

Stay warm, Snowysmom! That is really sweet you remember all of your dogs for Christmas :)

Hug, Lynxstch, that isn't very good of your governor. As all of you know the CA governor has made some questionable choices.

I had nice phone conversations with three friends this afternoon, good to catch up. No mail of any type here yet.

Have a cozy evening, everyone!

Oh boy! I just learned how to only quote one line from a post rather than the whole thing!

I always put chapstick in everyone's stocking too.
I do that also. And the adults get miniatures from the liquor store. Nothing celebrates the birth of our savior more than alcohol. LOL

When I could shop better and DS was standing post outside all the time, I would get him hand warmers. This year everyone gets a pocket size hand sanitizer.

Had our Zoom advent study. Now time for mindless tv before bed.

Stopping by real quick to say Sweet Dreams to all :)

I enjoyed A Veteran's Christmas. I loved that the former soldier Grace, got reunited with her military service dog Christmas at the end. He was adorable! I also liked the main actor Joe and his relationship with his 12 year old niece was super sweet.

I may have said this before but another thumbs up for Hallmark Christmas movies is a lot of the ones I've seen recently feature a Christmas carousel--those look like such fun. Yes, as an FYI there is a movie this weekend called The Christmas Carousel! 🎠

Carol, I'm glad you got participate in the Advent study. I hope you (and everyone in our thread) enjoyed fun TV tonight.

Good morning QUACK family! Just sitting here waiting for the snow to start, and hoping that it doesn't. They still say that 'towards the Mason Dixon line' could get 12-18". We are not that far from that line :( Now they say it might turn to sleet and freezing rain, which is no better, sometimes worse. Going to rest my back as much as I can today in case I have to go shovel. Hubby says 'let it melt', but it can't/won't melt if it's below freezing! I try to keep the drive clear, just in case of an emergency.
Have a good day all, stay safe and warm if possible!3cd85b73be0762dab5521af5e44b1cd1--work-hard-bff.jpg

garbage truck

We have a small dumpster (2 yard) at the end of our driveway, near the road, by our upper barn. Trash guy comes around 4:30 every Thursday morning and it's a hell of a racket! I always wonder what the neighbors think about the early morning cacophony that occurs....

Good morning everyone. It was a also a early morning for me, but it's my own fault. I left a grocery purchase that is hard to find to the last minute for Christmas dinner, which resulted in me needing to get to the only grocery store that had it, 40 minutes away. Luckily, I was able to grab it and still back it back to the office by 7:45! I may have indulged in a peppermint mocha and cheese danish on the drive back :rolleyes1

Of course, forgot to grab one of the snow shovels to put on the porch in case we get any snow overnight. We have salt, and I'm thinking we are more likely to get ice over snow anyway boooo hisss we do have an important meeting tomorrow afternoon and I'm hoping the person doesn't cancel, it's rather time-sensitive.

This evening is looking a tab bit disjointed for us, so I think it may be a simple soup & salad dinner. I did a big house clean on Saturday and I want to touch that up and keep everything clean for the holidays vs. cooking dinner tonight. I was able to get some cookie dough made and in the freezer this past weekend, too. I'm TRYING to stay on top of everything in the hopes that by next Tuesday or Wednesday I'm able to actually relax and have everything done or as done as it's going to get.

Husband has follow Dr. appt. today to check his blood pressure. It's been teetering on the edge of high on and off for a few years. He's tried to keep it in check with reducing the salt & junk, & being more physically active, and to a small degree it's helped but I suspect genetics may win out on this one. His younger brother has been on blood pressure meds for a while, his father and and pretty much whole paternal family also suffer from it. I'm not sure how much is lifestyle and how much is just what you were born into. Fingers crossed he doesn't need the medications, but if he does I think it will bother him a fair bit.

Morning all.

Had a fun afternoon yesterday. Was supposed to do a food pick up but had to cancel. Thankfully they found someone else. My best friend called with an emergency. She fell at work and needed to get to the Urgent Care her company uses. They did not offer to take her, call an ambulance, anything!!! Thankfully I hadn't left yet. She broke her humerus near the shoulder. Her kids both live 10-12 hours away and her significant other works 2 hours away. I was happy to help but now she is getting stubborn. I know she has an aunt close by that will help out but she is at least a 1/2 drive away and her health hasn't been the best.

Had to get my grandsons to school today and it was ugly sweater day. Even the teenager wore one. I'm glad he's fitting in with the new school. As soon as I was done dropping them off I headed straight to the grocery store. That was a good move on my part. I was in and out in 45 minutes. I do meander a bit. The store was getting really crowded when I left. I need to do laundry and one or 2 quick stops but other than that I am hoping this storm is like a lot of the others and just passes us by. I once loved driving in blizzards. I am older and saner now.

Have a great day all.

I've had some good news - great news to us!

We already have donated some land to a Quail Study being undertaken by a local college working with Chesapeake Bay Foundation. They are trying to reintroduce/provide habitat for existing native Quail population, so we gave them a few acres to use for specific habitat to encourage that (quail nest & eggs found on property 3 years ago started us on this road) For the last year & a half we've also been working with the local Riverkeeper to secure grant funding to plant native grasses & wildflower meadows in the open spaces of the development next to our farm (we own a lot in the development that borders our farm, and have been working w/ the HOA to make this happen- we provided the leg work and will provide the farm tractor & labor associated with maintenance) Anyway - we are excited to have helped bring this to fruition. Luckily the HOA was very receptive to the idea when we brought it up, and they are happy to have wildflowers instead of a mowing bill.

She fell at work and needed to get to the Urgent Care her company uses. They did not offer to take her, call an ambulance, anything!!!

What???? Fell at work and they didn't do anything? Is this a work comp situation? That's not right...and if it's not work comp it's still not right! I hope she recovers easily and quickly. I handle all of our employees work comp situations, please tell her to consider reporting this to everyone she is supposed to ASAP in order to start a claim, it's to her benefit.

Quack and Good Morning, Everyone!

Please do stay warm and extra safe all of you friends in snow! Snow in movies is "cold" enough for me!

Prayers for your friend TazDev indeed along with your DH, Easyas123.

Off to see what Christmas movies are on today. Have a great and warm Wednesday!
