Morning all. Quiet one here as I binge on Below Deck. There are just so many cop shows I can watch for my husband and I let him have the TV at night so a fair compromise. His vision is poor since he had the strokes, one eye only sees shadows and shapes for the most part. He swears he sees well enough to drive. That is NOT happening.

Yikes..that is probably not safe, for him to drive! I hope you squashed that one !!! I can't get into Below Deck for some reason, but Deadliest Catch got me hooked (no pun intended) this year, and I binge watched quite a few past seasons, lol!~

I spent the weekend on a family Facebook page as we shared some really old pics. Found out my great grandmother had a brother who was in the Polish Army during WWI. Never knew she had a brother so that was nice to find out. Also got confirmation that my great grandparents had separated. She tore her wedding picture in half and threw out my great grandfathers picture. Love shaking that family tree.

I would hazard a guess that most of us have at least one of 'those' in our family trees. Glad you found out about a long lost brother of your great grandmothers~

Today is trying to organize some pictures and making sure I have the ones on my phone backed up. Getting a new phone, hopefully by the weekend. I hate the one i have now. Never sends me notifications and the maps app was not working right while I was lost in Lancaster a couple weeks ago. Saw the same covered Bridge 3 times before I finally figured out which way to go. I want to head out again with my granddaughter and need the app working. We are planning on doing a photo shoot of Covered Bridges in all 4 seasons. She is a fantastic photographer/artist and I love giving her opportunities to expand her vision. My home may soon be filled with her artwork. I already have one piece framed and waiting for the downstairs to be redone. Getting rid of paneling, new paint and new floors. This of course comes AFTER the new kitchen. It never ends. This is the piece she gave me last year for Mother's Day. She is so talentedView attachment 539917

Very cool picture, she's a talented person. Thanks for sharing!

Thank You. I am prejudiced of course. She just amazes me with the talent she has.

I am not letting the husband drive and he knows it. Put a crimp in our retirement plans as we had hoped to tour the country by car. I get very tired when driving long periods. We will work something out but it will not involve him driving. I figured there was an issue a few years ago on a Disney trip before his strokes. He missed an exit on I-4 at least 3 times. Found out after the strokes he also has severe diabetic retinopathy when my son cleaned out his truck. He ignored the eye drs. advice for at least 3 years to see a specialist, all the referrals were in the truck. I don't get on him because he is the one paying a hefty price for that. We joke we make the perfect couple. He can't see and I can't hear well. I'm his eyes and he is my ears.

I am having one of those down, anxious days so will limit my negative thoughts.

@tazdev3225, where do you live that you can go to Lancaster to see covered bridges? I assume PA. I am in Elkton in Cecil County MD, about an hour from Lancaster. We have 2 covered bridges near us. I'll post a picture of the one in Fair Hill in another post from my iPad.

I am currently bingeing on Christmas movies. No more news for me.

Just called to library to put the newest book in Noel series by Richard Paul Evans on hold. The librarian I spoke to said they had not ordered it, which was surprising. She is going to talk to acquisitions. But I wonder if the library will be shutting down again soon. Governor Hogan speaks again today at 4 and I expect shutdowns.

Have any of you heard about The Christmas Bell? It is an online event someone started that is spreading all over Facebook. I am going to participate if I remember.

This year has been a crazy one for sure!
So let's add some cheer!
This year on Christmas Eve, let's gather on our door steps and jingle all the way.
come small, come tall, come young, come old, join us for a Christmas Eve never forgotten
🌟

we ask you jingle your bells, doing Christmas carols, until Santa has heard us!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Be back later, hopefully in a better frame of mind.

Hang in there Carol. I think a lot of us are having those lately. I generally get them at holiday time anyhow, add a pandemic, and I have more down days than up lately. :grouphug:

I asssumed she was from Lancaster PA too, and she's just a state away from both you and I. I am in Western Maryland @tazdev3225 --we have a couple of covered bridges not too far from here also, but I have no pictures of them to share.

I haven't watched a newscast since March, believe it or not. Not pandemic related, not election related, nothing. I even try to avoid the daily paper , nothing but sad and bad news on the front page every single day

I hadn't heard that about Gov Hogan speaking again. I hope it's not more shutdowns, and for him to just reiterate for people to be careful, wear masks, avoid large crowds and gatherings etc.

OMG..try talking to an insurance broker about medicare,,when they are in a Walmart Supercenter doing a Medicare 'sign up' event!!!!! :crazy2:
What should have taken about 15 min took almost 45 :(
Who in their right minds is sitting in a crowded Walmart, in a pandemic, 3 days before Thanksgiving, doing that ---our agent and 2 others, that's who! She was trying to type all the info and answers into her computer and then send it off to Aetna. But there were people talking loudly, babies crying, other agents on cell phones talkling loudly, etc. We had to keep repeating our answers, she had to keep repeating almost everything she was saying. Wonder why I have a headache now??
She said it will take 2-3 weeks (or less) for them to approve us and send us our cards and all info. Hubby's should be approved almost immediately as he's had coverage all along. I didn't until last year when I got Part B, so I had more questions to answer about health conditions (I have none, and I take no prescriptions). She said they may call and ask me a few more questions, but hopefully it won't hold things up. She did tell me to be sure to answer if the phone shows a toll free number, which may or may not show Aetna. I don't answer calls that don't have names,,lol. She said if I let it go to voicemail, they will just leave a toll free number that I can call back.

Interestingly enough I found out something I didn't know, when asking her if we had to go through all of this every year. She said that the 'enrollment period' that runs from Oct 15 till Dec 7, is for Medicare Advantage Plans and Prescription Drug plans. You can sign up for Supplemental plans anytime you want!

Sun came out, then disappeared,,it's cold and windy outside. Off to the cellar to go through Christmas stuff. Maybe I'll put a holiday cd in the cd player, to help my mood improve also!

I had a bit of that over the weekend as well. (Drove DH crazy because it’s not like me at all.)

And I'm definitely not looking forward to all that paperwork someday! Thankfully, I’ve got a few years left on DH's insurance through work.

I'm in Philadelphia so Lancaster is one of my favorite get aways for a day trip. I would love to see the pics of the covered bridges. I love lighthouses but have taken pics of all of them around me, several times. The bridges are a new thing. It started a few years ago when I visited a DIS friend in Indiana during their Covered Bridge Festival. I love them.

Safely home from the dentist. Thank God all went very well. It's cold out there for here this morning! Driving into the Valley to the dentist it was foggy as well. Good day to be cozy at home for sure.

:grouphug:Carol and, PollyannaMom, and everyone! This time really is so hard and can be emotional as well! I (always) am so thankful to God for each of you and the friendship, love, and kindness you bring to me and all of us!

In ways 2020 continues to suck, the sale of the DH’s office fell through again. Settlement was supposed to have been last Friday but got postponed to November 30 because the bank was slow approving the buyer’s loan. The loan came through but the buyer, a young guy with a tattoo and jewelry business, said his business had dropped off so much due to COVID that he was afraid of losing his business and was afraid to take the mortgage. So five months after it went on the market it is back on again.

The good news, DH’s and my COVID tests from Saturday were negative. They took way longer than usual. Mine came in at 2am, DH’s at 2 pm, and DD and family are still waiting.

@tazdev3225, Philadelphia is only an hour away.

We had a thunderstorm overnight and much colder and windy today.

This is the bridge in Fair Hill this past Saturday. Not the best picture but the one I could find.

I am having one of those down, anxious days so will limit my negative thoughts.

These are tough times and it is not unexpected to have some anxious days. I hope you can relax a bit watching the movies. I have given up watching all news. Just too depressing. I learn just enough about what is going on to get by. Even the Weather channel is getting depressing with news instead of weather. Hallmark and Lifetime movies are the way to go. My anxiety comes and goes too.

First day back to work after my staycation. My manager scheduled a meeting to catch up. He asked me to work full time just for December to help out another accounting department that is behind. So I will work 24 hours week in my dept and 16 hours in the other. I have to figure out how this affects my unemployment as this is just temporary. In January I go back to 24 hours a week. The joys of working in travel. I suspect I just don't file a claim for the weeks I have 40 hours.

It is cold and rainy and windy here today. Thanksgiving is supposed to be rainy too but we aren't going anywhere so that is fine. Jasper is not coughing as much. He even asked to play the other night. He takes the inhaler treatment pretty well as long as he can see the turkey he will be getting afterwards. He has been barking at dogs going by too so he is feeling better.

Glad your tests were negative. My daughter and I kept debating if I needed one all weekend. I have a horrible head cold, stuffy nose, the works. I promised to get a test by the end of the week if I don't show some improvement but honestly it has been a week already and I get this head cold every year for the holidays. The cough is annoying but the stuffy nose is getting a little better. I take great caution not to be exposed but of course you never know. The hard part is staying away from my grandsons this week.

That picture is awesome. I will have to google it and add it to my list. there is one in the Lancaster area I love - Poole Forge. It has a great history.

Hello everyone....look at me again behind on posts. :sad2:

Jasper did well at his vet appointment.
So glad to hear Jasper is doing better.

We just got the call (and text, and message on the public schools webpage, and email...) that we are now full remote from now through Friday, December 4th, hoping to return to hybrid on the 7th.
Our school district was supposed to go back next Monday for hybrid learning but with the increase in cases, they canceled it until the beginning of the year. Our daycare has three school agers that are anxious to go back as is my boss, grandma to two of the schoolagers. LOL

I've never tried the cornbread type of stuffing, but perhaps as this year is the year of the 'small dish of...'I might make two types! I think my husband would love it.
Its really good....got a little bit of sweetness to it.

Aldi's was pretty busy, but as usual they get customers through the lines in record time,,I love that about that store.
We have a new Aldi near us and I was just telling hubby I really need to check it out some time.

My husband and I went on a 10k walk this morning, we've been trying to do this on a weekly basis.
Wow....that's awesome.

He is doing great, thanks for asking. Today is his birthday! He is a funny and sweet little guy!

Sooo cute!!! Hope he had a great birthday. :lovestruc

Do any of you have this issue? Hubby keeps asking me what I want for Christmas.
I have the opposite issue, he doesn't ask and just buys me whatever. LOL Sometimes he does good(last year I got a laptop), sometimes he doesn't do so well(foot massage spa thingy....he's the only that has ever used it.) If we shop together I tell him what to get me but sometimes he wants to surprise me.

I do everyone's stockings, including my own. LOL

Have you seen A Veteran's Christmas? It was from 2018 but I watched for the first time today. I really liked it and cried happy tears at the end.
I liked that one too. I almost always cry when its military related.

At the small school where I work, the 3 rd grade teacher has Covid
prayers for the teacher and the rest of the school

This is the piece she gave me last year for Mother's Day. She is so talented
Very cool.

I'm right there with you....yesterday I was sooo grumpy but I'm soo out of sorts. I need to stay away from Facebook for awhile too I think, or at least stop reading comments. People are terrible sometimes.

I saw this....the one I read said something about 6pm. If I remember we're going to do it tool.

I'm so sorry. :(

Hallmark and Lifetime movies are the way to go. My anxiety comes and goes too.
Yes....I said above I've been grumpy and our of sorts this weekend and I just realized I haven't watched a Hallmark movie in days. So I need to settle down with one and then make sure I mediate tonight before bed. Haven't done that in awhile either.

I understand the emotions, too! The not being able to see people during the holidays is the icing on the cake this year, it seems. And so many are hurting. I’m sorry about the sale @Breezy_Carol . Ugh. I had to test Saturday, too, due to an exposure at work. I just got it back and I am negative. Waiting stunk.

I have some covered bridge photos from this year, @tazdev3225 . These are from the Lakes area of NH. I believe both are older, but were rebuilt. I want to say there was a fire on one but can’t confirm it. I did read in the story before that people were sometimes hung from the bridges 😳 so I always feel a sense of respect and awe for their ages and history. Fun project for the two of you!

And now Thanksgiving with DD and family has been cancelled in an abundance of caution. I am going to cook the turkey, which I have to get from her, and bake a pumpkin pie. She is going to make corn casserole and sweet potatoes. We are going to meet halfway between our homes and trade off food. We are each responsible for our own stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy. Not great, but a plan. Happy Thanksgiving. :rolleyes1

Hallmark and Lifetime movies are the way to go.
And UpTV is showing Gilmore Girls back to back through all the episodes. The CW is showing A Year in the Life each night this week. I love that show.
