Great pictures, Pea! So thankful your test was also negative!

I'm so sorry also about the cancellation, Carol and it looks like PollyannaMom as well.

Thank you, Snowysmom.

As an FYI, Oriental Trading today and tomorrow is offering free shipping on any order just go to their website. I'm trying to decide on foam Christmas ornament crafts, whether to get any of them. I wish more assortments were possible including Christmas Trees!

So sorry for your holiday cancellations, @Breezy_Carol and @PollyannaMom :guilty:

Meditating really helps alot. Like you, I have not been really good about it lately. Maybe tonight. Sometimes it helps with sleep.
Bedtime is usually when I do it. Sometimes I'm asleep before my guided meditation is over. I use an app called Let's Meditate. There are several free downloadable meditations, I usually do the guided one.

@Breezy_Carol Did you happen to catch Governor Hogans press conference this afternoon? I try to avoid news as much as possible, but I just looked it up to see the 'bullet points'. Nothing much seems to have changed, no further restrictions, no lower capacity? Its just telling people that there will be more police on alert, watching places like banquet halls, etc for large gatherings? And it tells people that they should limit holiday gatherings to only those who live with them. Did I miss something more than that, if you know? Please and thank you!

@Snowysmom ----I have never tried meditation. Before I go to sleep at night, I usually put the bedroom tv on the music channel called Soundscapes. It's quiet, relaxing music, and usually puts me at ease, and I usually fall asleep before the timer I set for 45 minutes goes off and turns the tv off. Does meditation do something besides relax you and put your mind at ease?

I did watch. I don’t think anything changed except he is having more state troopers out for enforcement. DD and I were hoping he would shut somethings down.

Wow, I'm way behind - again - on posting. Big group hug to all! I did have every intention of posting yesterday, but then my stress level put me over the edge. I ended up sitting on the sofa, crying, all day in the dark. I did manage to watch 2 of my recorded Hallmark/Lifetime movies, though - Journey Back to Christmas and A Christmas Wish. Of course, I recorded 3 others, so now I'm even more behind... :rolleyes1

I tried to take Josh's Christmas photos, as I like to order Christmas cards around Thanksgiving (I've noticed that a lot of sites have issues with orders from Thanksgiving through Christmas). We went outside to first do his PE homework, it was 11 a.m. and our house faces west, so the sun wasn't in his eyes. So he decided it was a good time to do the photos, we went inside and he quickly changed his clothes, then we went back out...and he squinted in every single photo because "it's too bright!" :sad2: We went back inside and I got ONE decent photo in front of our (fake) fireplace. I thought there were a few from outside that weren't too bad, but my mother didn't like any of them.

Today was our first day of full remote learning and it's even worse than hybrid. The biggest problem is that I think the bandwidth can't handle all these people being on at the same time - the teacher, and everything she was trying to show them, was blurry. Some wise guy kept muting the PE teacher, who repeatedly said that he wasn't sure how to use the iPad. Our morning meeting and math, which is usually only about 20 minutes, lasted over an hour because EVERYONE wanted to share something, so by the time the teacher got through them, they all had something else they wanted to share. Hopefully tomorrow will be better, as they won't have library or PE, so the day should be a bit shorter.

DH received a text from his sister late this afternoon. Her partner was "in close proximity" last Tuesday with a coworker who tested positive for COVID on Wednesday. So she's freaking out and they are going for tests tomorrow. She didn't specify what "in close proximity" meant, but she did say they were both outside and wearing masks, so fingers crossed. Still, they are now quarantining and have canceled going over to my in-laws' house to have Thanksgiving dinner with them (which stinks, because they have a freshly-processed-just-this-weekend 25-lb. turkey that they're cooking). We only have a 3-lb. turkey breast, so we're hoping that my BIL will pony up some turkey from his dinner, but we can take over potatoes, stuffing, my MIL's favorite corn casserole, and some cranberry sauce.

DH and I have had the discussions regarding buying things for each other. I am very lucky that he listens and doesn't spend a lot on me. I do have a shelf full of books about Doctor Who, Star Trek, Neil Gaiman, etc. (I don't know if I should tell him that I don't yet have one of the Shakespeare's Star Wars books :worried: ). I did ask him for the new Ernest Cline book, Ready Player Two - Ready Player One is my FAVORITE book, I read it about 3x a year (and the movie is completely different, just FYI). But this morning we talked for a moment and decided to save our money to buy a new mattress. The one we have will be 20 years old next year and we're both starting to wake up in a lot of pain. Probably why I don't sleep well either. I will try to turn it for now, but I think we really need a new one - and I'm not keen on going somewhere to choose one in the first place, let alone having people in our house to deliver it and remove the old one.

Just pulled a meatloaf out of the oven, potatoes for mashed potatoes are cooking and will add steamed peas and carrots as another side when the potatoes are done.

All the talk about covered bridges reminds me of when we were traveling through Iowa after visiting with family in Spirit Lake to meet up with a friend on the way to Branson, MO. About 10 minutes after we passed the exit for the Bridges of Madison County the friend called to say they couldn't make it. We decided to keep going, wish that we had turned around since I doubt we will ever travel to that part of the country again, family there has moved to California.

@lynxstch, I've paired my Christmas decorations down to a 3 gallon tub. 😄 Easy put up and take down.

@tazdev3225, I've never thought of a family Facebook page. Thanks for sharing.

Grandkids had a dental visit today. Grandson did real well, much better than last time. Granddaughter's first visit was fantastic. In fact, they have both been great today, no crying, no fighting. DD has the week off so they are not in daycare.

Cases are rising here. It's just a matter of time before it hits our house with DD teaching in person, grandkids in daycare and DH making plumbing repair visits. My prayer is that is anyone of us get it that its just a mild case.

So nice to see you Kirby! So glad your grandkids dental visit went well.

So many prayers to all testing and who may need to be so including the teacher at your school Sparkle, prayers also you stay safe!

Hug, Apirateslifeforme, sometimes as you know kids just are testy! Prayers for your relatives being tested. I also pray online school goes much better tomorrow!

I need quiet to sleep though it takes me quite a while to fall asleep. I enjoy each day re-reading from Jesus Calling and should look into a new devotional perhaps a Christmas one.

Does meditation do something besides relax you and put your mind at ease?
For me, I like the guided meditations. One of them goes from the top of your head to your toes. I can literally feel all my stresses fade away as "the voice" goes from body part to body part. LOL I know a lot of people just like listening to relaxing sounds but I feel like my mind just starts thinking about other stuff and I'm not getting the relaxation I feel with the guided.

I meant to ask, did anyone else watch Wizard of Oz last night on TBS? So appropriate on Toto’s birthday! 🌈 🐒 🦁 We watched it together. I still cry when mean Miss Gulch tries to take Toto away! (She would’ve had to pry him out of my cold, dead hands! :lmao:)
OMG....I love the Wizard of Oz. If we still had cable, I would have watched. We used to have it on VHS when DD was younger, she LOVED it. Her 2nd birthday was Wizard of Oz themed. :lovestruc

I watch it every time it's on. It is one of my favorite movies. I agree with you about the witch and Toto,,no way would she have gotten my pet either!

ITA Carol about WoZ, it was never a favorite of mine either, the monkeys were scary. I do know so many people LOVED it. My Grandma did :) I do love that it was aired on Toto's birthday, Pea that is cool.

It's a cold morning here in LA. An old pilling set of jersey sheets may go on my bed on Friday (when we change out sheets each week). Apirateslifeforme, one day post plague when I can go to Kohl's I will definitely look at the Cuddliduds you recommended.

Keep warm and cozy everyone!

Good morning everyone. It's sunny now, but it was a chilly 29 earlier. Fed Ex was just here, and left 6 boxes, wow, Chewy is FAST. I ordered at 5 pm last nite, and it was already delivered? I also got the stuff I ordered on Hallmark on Sunday, still waiting for an ornament I ordered for a friend last week. It shows that it will be delivered by the post office with my mail today.

As to the Wizard of Oz. When I was growing up, we didn't have much money, and no color tv. My first boyfriend (who ended up being my first husband) , worked for a tv rental place back then. He bought us our first color tv the first year I knew him. That was the first time I had ever seen Wizard of Oz in anything but black and white, and I was amazed. When I watch it, I still sing out loud (to hubby's dismay) with all the songs, lol.

Hubby is on the first of 2 pre IP Zoom meetings for 2 consumers at work..the 2 ips are next week and those will be the last. He had to tell them during the meeting today that these will be his last. They were all sad to hear he was leaving, but all wished him a Happy Retirement. 10 days and counting (but only 6 actual days of work, lol!

I am forcing myself to go down and go thru Christmas stuff, as soon as I take laundry out of the dryer and fold it.

Have a lovely Tuesday everyone

@flyingdumbo127 --what is considered a cold day in LA? I also change the sheets every week, along with the mattress cover, and I turn and rotate the mattress once a month. It's new and I am trying to keep it that way!

@apirateslifeforme --I am going to check Kohls for Cuddliduds also,,but it's a store I rarely shop at , so I hope I don't find too many bargains online , lol!

Lynxstch, I think right now it's in the low 50's. This next coming weekend it may get into the mid-lower 40's at night. For us that is very cold. Keep in mind this apartment does not have safe heating so we don't use it. I am beyond grateful and thankful to God to have a home period and one that is safe and warm. No true complaints. The heating issue is one reason why one day God-willing should I get a job at church or elsewhere it would mean so much to me to help make possible a move for my Dad and I. :) to your Wizard of Oz memories!

@lynxstch I find that meditation relaxes my mind and my body. I have trouble sleeping because my mind is going a mile a minute. The evenings when I meditate I find it helps calm my mind. I have to start up again. I have a question for you. When you did your medicare planning with the agent did you choose a local insurance agent or are there agents who specialize in medicare planning? We will be dealing with this a bit down the road but we are still on DH's work plan now.

It is a sunny cold day here, around 41. It is good walking weather even with the cold. As long as there isn't any snow on the ground it is nice.

Tomorrow is baking day for Thanksgiving. Since it is only DH and I for dinner I am only making the oooey gooey toffee cake for dessert. After eating that I will have to walk around the block many times!

We called the local Senior Center..and they recommended a local insurance broker. I think she said there were only 2 around us (small city). They always advertise around here as the '1 stop Medicare Specialist', so we went with them. We called them, and they assigned an agent to us. She took all the info, basic such as age, zip code, prescriptions etc..and she searched all the insurance company's (here in MD), and found that the best for us to use for supplemental was Aetna. She found that Silver Script was the best for us to use for Plan D (prescriptions). We really would have liked to stay with BCBS CareFirst, but their rates were much higher per month. Feel free to pm me if you have any other questions..I feel like I took a crash course in Medicare over the last 2 weeks, lol!

Now I have a question for you..how does one go about beginning to meditate. Is there a website or something that tells you how to go about it? TIA
