Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning everyone. Our Indian Summer weather comes to an end today , will only be mid 50's. I am off to do a few errands and try to fight the crowds at Walmart. Hoping they aren't packed and have people waiting outside in lines, since they are back to 50% capacity.

@Bianca and Bernard I never heard of food poisoning taking place so long after eating? The one and only time I ever got it, I had it within 2 hours of eating. But glad that you got him to the ER and got him some help.

Have a great Saturday everyone--Only 5 more days till Thanksgiving!

Depending on the type of bacteria causing the illness.

Bacilus Cereus 4-16 hours
Campylobacter jejuni 2-5 days
Ciguatera 6-24 hours
clostridium bostulinum 12-72 hours
Clostridium perfringens 8-16 hours (can be as soon as 6, as long as 24)
Cryptosporidium 2-10 days
Cyclospora 7-10 days
E coli 1-8 days
E coli O157:H7 1-9 days
Giardia lamblia 1-2 weeks
Hep A 28 days
Listeria 9-48 hours (can be as long as 1-4+ weeks after before symptoms)
Noroviruses 12-48 hours
Rotavirus 1-3 days
Salmonella 1-3 days (can be as soon as 6 hours, or up to 6 days)
Shigella 24-48 hours (can be as long as 4 days)
Staphylococcus aureus 1-6 hours (can be as soon as 30 minutes)
Vibrio vulnificus 1-7 days
Vibrio Parahaemolyticus 4 hours-4 days

This makes it hard to track where the source is. Who can remember everywhere and everything they ate 4 weeks ago????

Good morning.

Quick check in before we go wait for the test.

@easyas123, I'll send you a PM about the testing in Delaware so as not to bore everyone else.

@Bianca and Bernard, that dressing sounds good, but labor intensive.

Many years ago, I had Campylobacter jejuni . I was sick! Then the antibiotics for it were as bad and the bacteria. Thanks for the memory.:crazy2:

It's pretty easy, lol. Not as easy as Stovetop, but less intensive than an oyster or giblet dressing.

Food poisoning sucks. Sorry about the reminder, lol.

Got up this morning and made some Soberbread apple fritter bread (in muffin cups). Used a Strongbow Gold hard apple cider. I think I mixed it a bit too much, was a bit tough on the top, but the flavor was very good.

When I went to make the muffin bread this morning, I accidentally caught the bag tag on my sleeve, and pulled it off the counter. The Strongbow bottle was on the bag string and pulled off the counter as well. I tried to catch it with my hands; failed that; and with the top of my foot; failed that. I did slow it enough that the bottle did not break, but the pressure in the bottle caused the top to pop up just enough to spew about 3/4 of the bottle all over the floor and the canned cat food box. /sigh I had to mop today anyways.....:o:rotfl2:

Two days until WoW Shadowlands drops. Going to try to get another 2 characters up to 50 and through the preview before then. (If you don't understand anything I said here, then you don't play, lol. If you do understand, you know how my next 48-96 hours is going to be). :rotfl2::surfweb:o_O Other than that, we have zero plans for the next week.

B&B, I am sure sorry your son (and you for him) had to go through all that, yikes! Prayers he continues to feel better! Good attitude on your spill! I hope all is clean now and you are able to move onto more relaxing things! Lol, I do admit to not having a clue to what you are talking about above. It sounds like some type of computer perhaps game. Hope you have fun :)

Carol, all the best prayers on your test.

Cool, sunny Saturday here. I have shared before how much I do like Walmart's Secret Treasure line of pajamas. As a reminder FYI, be cautious on length! I am just over 5'8". Dad is 6'2" I had ordered 2 pairs each of different colored pajamas. The first set in medium is a little long and big but fine. The material is fuzzily cozy soft :) The second set, same size, fit my Dad! Yes, he tried a pair on just to see, no he does not want them :D Also the material on those are silky/scratchy at the same time. Thumbs up to gray/pink pattern. Thumbs down to a darker grey/flowery pattern. Honestly that was not much my style taste but it seemed to be the best other color. Oh well!

Have a great day all!

Sorry to hear about the online learning @apirateslifeforme . I can feel your angst! You put so much into it I can imagine how much it takes out of you! Hang in there!

Sorry, also, to hear about food poisoning @Bianca and Bernard ! Good chart above!

Our stuffing, well, weโ€™re Boston born and bred so we are big Bellโ€™s Seasoning stuffing mix people - it originated here. (Have been on โ€œstuffing threadsโ€ here before where it was quite dissed, though!) We add sausage, onion, celery, cranberries and apple along with the butter. We love it! We donโ€™t usually stuff the bird, though, we bake it in pans - one for home and one to take to take with us; itโ€™s requested.

Thought you might enjoy:

Aldi's was pretty busy, but as usual they get customers through the lines in record time,,I love that about that store. Walmart on the other hand was a zoo. Guy said I was # 576 in the door at 11, but the parking lot was pretty full, and we have a big Supercenter store. Got what I needed and got out.
@Breezy_Carol --can't believe you never heard of Bells seasoning! It comes in a little yellow box . Its great on chicken, turkey, stuffing, egg salad, chicken salad, etc. I bought a couple boxes at a little discount place in PA last year, for $.25 a box. I just saw it in Walmart for $3.49 a box!
@flyingdumbo127 -- I looked up those pjs at Walmarts you keep talking about online. But they don't have much to choose from in the way of prints/colors/etc. And not much in the size I need either. Glad you were able to get some when you did!

@Pea-n-Me --I'm not Boston born and raised, but Western MA born and raised, now Western MD, but I was raised on Bells Seasoning. It's been around a long time, and I always make sure I have a couple of boxes on hand!

@Bianca and Bernard sorry to hear about your spill this morning, that must have been a mess to clean up!

Dinner tonite is going to be seafood salad, over a regular green salad, with cottage cheese and fruit. I just finished a long hot beauty treatment, and put on my Olaf Winter Fleece pjs, lol. All I have left to do is strip and remake the bed in a bit.
Its very gray outside, but the temp is 60.

Have a nice Saturday evening everyone!--13 days till hubby retires!

Dad went briefly to a different Ralph's this morning in hopes of getting quilted northern--just like our regular Ralph's yesterday, this Ralph's paper aisle was pretty bare. He did thankfully get some other things we needed :)

I'm sorry about lack of PJ choice, Lynxstch. To be sure you (and anyone else were looking at what I have) Walmart # 585101401 Secret Treasures Women's and Women's Plus Traditional V-Neck Long Sleeve Top and Pants Pajama Set I am very happy with: the pink crystal color. I am very disappointed by the Medium Gray color. Those are the pants I have that are humungous and not soft the way the other are. Honestly, all 4 color choices didn't do much for me. I thought the pink crystal was the best choice. I do like Christmas-y red (as in bright red) but their red choice had the black marks on them. I only got the flower pattern because that to me was the best second choice, it is IMO, a bit much!

I had also gotten over the Summer some Secret Treasure Capri PJ's. Disclaimer is I am not a fan of Capris for PJ pants--they bug me because the legs ride up in bed. That was the only lighter weight PJ pant at that time. I am a light pink person and I got them in pink. I also got a couple in blue, to have for around the house during the day. Now the pink ones practically fall down. The blue are big but better. Same size. Both are way too short for me. The blue right now I can still use, in fact, I'm wearing a pair right now :)

I have seen the boxes of Bells seasoning but never used it. We just go the easy way and use Pepperidge farm. I think younger DS uses Bells seasoning in his stuffing recipe. My mother used mix stuffing too as she was not one who liked to cook alot.

The stores are getting busy now. DH will go on Monday to Market Basket to get the turkey and a few other items but then we should be all set. I have been getting items over the past 2 weeks. It is just the 2 of us. Well, Jasper will be asking for some turkey.

Today it is about 57 and breezy. We had the windows open for a while. I gave Jasper his first inhaler treatment and it went well surprisingly. He saw the turkey nearby so I guess he behaved to get the turkey treat. He seems to be coughing less with the other meds so far.

Covid testing around here is crazy. The town next to use maxed out their covid testing day. Another nearby town had people in line for hours. My doctor said that if we need to be tested to call him and he will refer us to the hospital testing site. I hope we don't have to do that. We did it once this summer when the whole family was at the condo together so we all wanted to be sure. I can still feel that swab near my brain, or at least it felt like it was near my brain.

Have a nice rest of the weekend.

Just got back from a 2+ mile hike in Fair Hill. It was my first solo hike since our dog died last January. Grace and I used to go there all the time. Somehow I didn't feel comfortable going solo, not sure why. Grace was probably not going to protect me, she was a golden. But today DH didn't feel like going and I did, so I went. Another hurdle crossed.

Not that you are counting.

:grouphug: to you on your solo hike. Sorry to hear about Grace, but I am glad that you went today anyhow, like you said, one more hurdle crossed,,I'm proud of you for even attempting it!!

I wasn't actually counting, until he mentioned it tonite! lol I think the fact that he sat in by phone yesterday on the interviews for his job, that made him realize how close to the end date it really was. They snuck in another person for an interview on Monday morning, so he has one more to listen to!

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good weekend so far! Nothing much going on here. I did my volunteering yesterday at the library, it went fine. I haven't been inside in over eight months. The staff were very grateful for the help, they are quite swamped. I had forgotten about how warm they keep it inside the building though. I usually don't wear sweaters there because of that, so I had on layers- long sleeve zip up over short sleeved t-shirt. When I walked in yesterday morning, it was a chilly 39 degrees. I was okay for the first hour and then I really started to get uncomfortable. I'm guessing they keep the thermostat in the 70's (I keep my house at a chilly 62 in the winter) and the heat was really starting to get to me. My mask just aggravated the situation and I was overheating, I'm sure my face was bright red underneath. There was 15 minutes left to go and the staff were holding a meeting before opening. I've never heard someone go on for so long in my life-talking about safety guidelines, mask protocol, etc. I couldn't get past them to get out the front door, they were blocking it and I just wanted the sweet relief of the cold outdoors, lol. I told the other lady volunteering that I'd have to come back next time in a tank top and shorts.

My husband and I went on a 10k walk this morning, we've been trying to do this on a weekly basis. What a beautiful day- cold(mid 50s, perfect walking weather)crisp, sunny with not a cloud in the sky. We walked by parks and different neighborhoods, all the trees with their fall colors. It's just amazing what two hours exercising outside can do for you. I bought an AVA (American Volkssport Association) book from a local walking club and it's the best 25 dollars I've ever spent! I've gone on so many walks that I would never think of doing, they have walks in there for every state. Last weekend we went on a walk in San Francisco, haven't been there in a few years. This one started at Lake Merced near SF State. I've never been in that area before, away from all the touristy stuff. It had a trail that led to Mt Davidson Park where you could climb up and get a great view of San Francisco and all the buildings in the distance. I even picked up some walking instructions for the Presidio, Lands End, and Golden Gate Park. We'll have some walks to look forward to next year. Stay warm and safe out there.

Ok you guys, I went to Christmas Tree Shops the other night and thought you might enjoy some holiday-type pictures! I had fun taking them!

OK, so I wound up buying the two in the last picture! :lmao: And, as usual, I spent way more than I intended to, but at least I got some of my shopping done for stocking stuffers and such, lol.
