Good morning everyone. It's Friday the 13'th :(
The day didn't start well for me. I woke out of a sound sleep at 4:10 and something just felt 'off'. One of my furbabies hadn't been feeling well, and I just had 'that feeling' as soon as I saw him this morning. He was just laying on the couch, barely breathing, and his eyes had lost all their brightess. I wrapped him in a blanket, and sat outside in a chair holding him, so he could be outside one last time, so he could see the sky and the stars. 10 min later, 1 little sigh, and 1 tiny meow, and he was gone to the Rainbow Bridge :( I am sad, but know he won't be in any pain, and will be with all of my other furbabies up there. I will bury him out in the backyard when it gets light out. Something bad/wrong always seems to happen on Friday the 13'th for me.
I know this isn't a cheerful post to start most of your days out, but I also know that a lot of you are people parents to pets, and will know how I feel right now.

@Breezy_Carol I am sorry about your cancelled holiday plans, but right now, it's probably for the best. I too agree that your son made the right call. I thank him for his service.

Have a good day all, I will try to be more cheerful in my next post!

What a beautiful boy! I am so sorry about Tiger's passing, but glad that you were able to spend those last moments with him and that he went to the Bridge surrounded by your love. That was a wonderful gift to be able to give him. Big hug to you right now.

So DS called on his way home from work and Thanksgiving at his house is cancelled. I had sent an email to both kids expressing concern about gathering after all the warnings with increasing cases of COVID. DD was also hesitant.

I'm starting to feel that way as well - will this ever end?

The day didn't start well for me.

What a handsome guy he was....I'm so sorry your morning started in such a way, but it sounds like he left in a peaceful way which I hope brings you some comfort.

(((huggles to those who need it)))

I still send birthday and Christmas cards to the grandbabies (along with Pop's required $2 bill), and Christmas cards to my DDs families. Other than that, I only send out a Christmas card or postcard when doing Reddit exchanges for those. I don't bother with my family, as they never bothered with us...quit that a long time ago.

No turkey parties at our house this year. The girls are too far away, and DS has zero interest. I miss cooking big meals like that; the clean up, not so much. LOL

I made banana nut muffins the other night, for a late night snack, and forgot to put them away. :oops:Woke up the next morning to find cat teeth in them and half of one missing. I know which sneaky cat it was, as only one of them gets on the counters, and she's the one with a finicky stomach; but she seems to have no ill effects from them. Lesson learned: don't leave baked goods out.

Other than that, the only real news we have is DH got a small bump in title and with it, a small raise. :cool1: He's also eligible, with that bump, for a bigger bonus structure, and he gets a little extra a month instead of a car allowance. Told him they can keep bumping him up, but no CAD manager position; every time he gets that position, the economy tanks, and bad job juju happens. :faint: (Seriously, you can blame him for the gold crash in 2001ish and the housing bust in 2009ish...both times, CAD manager position; first time he worked for an engineering firm specializing in mining; 2nd time, a firm specializing in...yea, housing and development. DH had just finished his part of the designwork on this community when the bottom fell out. He still is salty about it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coyote_Springs,_Nevada )

Thank you so much for that,,it made me smile. Our furbabies each have their own personalities , don't they? We have one cat who loves pepperoni, she will try to steal it off pizza if you are eating it! We have 2 who love to climb on the counter, then onto the top of the fridge, and then onto the top above the cabinets. But the counter climbers don't steal food, lol!

@lynxstch, I'm so sorry to hear about Tiger. That's an adorable photo of him, and I'm glad you were able to hold him and take him outside. I'm sure it comforted him.

The kids and I are working, but DH will have to decide what he’s going to do with his family. We’ll have a family dinner at home on Saturday with just us.

DS plans to work as well. DH is good as long as I make the pea casserole he loves, so we'll probably just take it easy that day - have a quiet dinner and watch too much TV!

So DS called on his way home from work and Thanksgiving at his house is cancelled. I had sent an email to both kids expressing concern about gathering after all the warnings with increasing cases of COVID. DD was also hesitant. DS is at the White House where there is another outbreak, and DDIL has a chronic lung condition. Sad but I know this is the responsible choice. DD may come here as we are in a bubble together. DS may still see wife's parents.

We did get to hear how things are going in DC and at the White House, which was interesting.
Yes, these are different times and we have to find the grace of spirit to not allow them to consume us and forget our past; 2022 will be better and we’ll be able to appreciate more the variant celebrations. May all in your orbit stay well!! :).

I am so sorry about Tiger's passing. What a blessing for you both to have some time together in the early morning. What a loving and kind thing to do for your beloved pet. The picture is so lovely and sweet.

Sorry to hear about Thanksgiving plans being changed. It is a tough year. It is best to be cautious. DH and I will be home for dinner and the kids will be at their homes with their kids. We need to find a small turkey. DH talked with the meat dept manager at Market Basket today and he said they have plenty of small turkeys so they aren't even taking orders for them. I would think this would be company wide and not just in our area.

It is cold, dreary, and rainy here today. Temps are around 50. It is getting colder with temps next week supposed to be in the 30s and 40s during the day. I will be on my staycation so time to do shopping and cleaning up downstairs for my exercise bike purchase. What fun!

Extra hug to all this Friday! It's warming up here which is nice. This apartment is extremes in temperature! It's supposed to be in the 80's next week briefly. I sure hope that does not change to 90's and 100's--don't think it will.

I never did get to watch The Magic Stocking. Somehow it only recorded the very end. I was able to Google and discover it'll be re-aired next month. I still need to watch the other Christmas movies I did record. I hope each of you get to be cozy and watch something fun this weekend! 🎄

Thank you..it comforted me as I hope it did him. It was a crystal clear sky, still black, with a zillion stars. We live where there are no streetlights, so it was especially pretty this morning. He is now buried with my other furbabies and a stone with his name on it.

Pea casserole? Sounds intriguing. Hubby loves peas, could you please share the recipe when you have a minute? TIA

Good afternoon all -

Hope everyone's Friday is going well. I skipped out of the office after lunch and headed up to the Farmers Market to order a pumpkin pie and some yeast rolls from the bakery there for Thanksgiving. I usually make a pumpkin pie - but I figured what the heck, what they make is going to be better than mine and I'm happy to support the store, and it's one less thing to hunt up the ingredients for at the grocery store! Anywho, also picked up a half of a yellow cake w/ chocolate icing for the eldest who turns 25 this weekend. Then swung around and picked up my nephew on my way back to the office (youth hunt in MD this weekend, so he's hanging with my husband) and now he's in his glory listening to off color hunting & construction stories of olden days in the Friday afternoon atmosphere of the office...

Carol, I'm seeing the headlines of the 130 secret service officers, hope your son is unaffected & safe.

Burgers & fries for dinner this evening (nephews request), cookies for dessert.

This week has flown by for me. DGD has been taking finals throughout the week and somehow I convinced myself it was Thursday while she thought today’s date is the 12th. Between the two of us we finally figured it out, LOL.

Did nothing of true consequence today. Spent hours checking websites and cookbooks to figure out what to do with the Concord grapes or put another way: I’m in procrastination mode. Sometimes that makes me happy too;).

DGD is in a happier place. She got her grade for history already and almost lived up to her potential. Next goal is 95 instead of 91. She’s studying now and probably will continue until dinner time (one more test on Monday) so guess we’ll make pie dough tomorrow morning.

Tonight’s dinner is probably spaghetti squash fritters and Tandoori chicken. No idea on the green veggie yet. Maybe a salad?

I was just coming here in case anyone heard that. The news is taking the headline without the rest of the story. It's 130 officers off work, some are positive but some just in contact with the positive officers. In that case, off for quarantine for 14 days. Still bad. DS is busy scheduling with all the officers off. He was tested Wednesday and texted today that his test came back negative, so good news there. You are the 5th person to directly ask me since the news hit. Nice to know people are thinking of my son.

Talked to DD early this morning to discuss getting a turkey for Thanksgiving. She stopped and bought one after dropping the kids off at daycare. It will be the 6 of us for dinner Thanksgiving but DGS doesn't eat real food yet.

I went and had bloodwork for the new doctor this morning. Came home and started soup in the crockpot for dinner. DH and I went to CFA for lunch. What a line! Then stopped at liquor store for some wine incase we get locked down. A necessity.

I hit CFA for lunch myself (and oh my goodness....the Walgreens, across from Middletown CFA? the line to do the Covid testing was out of the Walgreens parking lot, out the roads, around the circle and out to the road!) and the liquor store earlier this week, also "in case":sad2:

Glad your son has tested negative - hope they don't totally swamp him with work now that they are down so many officers.

Can we just fast forward to Feb. 1 and see if the world is burning or we are still standing??????

Continued prayers of health and safety for your son, Carol.

Dad said Ralph's was busier here this morning. No surprise with Thanksgiving approaching plus overall cooler weather. LA still is not doing well at all :( I would not be surprised should more restrictions come soon.

Extra grateful this Friday for:

Always each of you
That it is Friday which means Dad is safely home for the weekend.
Sunshine and God's grace of health
