Today has been terrible. We are having an electrical issue at the house and despite the technician being here over three hours he could not diagnose the problem. He said he hasn't seen this in his 11 years as an electrician...great. He is trying to coordinate with his supervisor to have him come out but I have no idea when that will be. Thankfully, it is just the bedrooms and bathroom and everything else is working.

I am a lazy outdoor person, I like to sit on my deck, and lounge in my pool, and take the dog for a walk, I also prefer outdoor shopping venues to an indoor mall, but that's really the extent of it.

We had an issue in our last house, where one outlet in the kitchen that had a surge switch on it. Turns out, when that surge switch would "pop", it shut off power to all the outlets on the same circuit. The circuit included 3 of the 4 outlets in the dining room, one outlet in our bedroom and the fridge outlet.

Took two electricians 6 hours to figure it out. They put the fridge on it's own circuit (where it should have been all along) and replaced the surge switch outlet with a regular one. Whoever wired that house did a very bad job.

Sorry to hear about your terrible day. Having electrical problems is no fun. We had a bad outlet in our dining room, and that one outlet for some reason shut off the rest of the outlets not only in that room, but half of the kitchen ones. Fortunately my 'fix it all' guy, found it quickly, replaced the outlet, and we had power back again. I hope they can find the problem and fix it for you!

Hi all. I hope everyone doing well and managing the best they can. I know for some it's bigger struggle than others.
We are busy here. I had community obligations on Zoom today. I wore my best ponytail and favorite tshirt that says "everything sounds better with Southern accent" It's beautiful here today and warm and I guess going to storm again soon. My mom is not doing well and I just don't know what I'm going to do. All I can do is keep talking to her trying to keep her focused. She is anxious on the best day and it is not the best day and she is afraid of her leukemia progressing more while she isn't getting treatment. This is a valid fear but she can't get out right now and if she did, she would not like isolation away from her roommate and visiting with the staff for 14 days. Just really so much going on. I'm hoping in June we can go see her even for a bit. Maybe that will help.

On another topic is Mother's Day and my MIL's birthday in the same week. This sounds funny but she is scared about not finding necessities so I have a box here throwing things in like lysol wipes, some cleaner, hand soaps, cloths masks, toilet paper, good hand lotion, and I'll put some nice things in as well. We are thinking about driving up there (about 2.5 hours) and stopping for take out and bringing camp chairs to have lunch outside with respectable distances. Does that sound weird? She is missing the grandbabies something fierce but my BIL is still going to work in Chicago and coming home every night so she can't see them. We certainly aren't as good as babies but we all know Matt is her favorite child lol

Dinner tonight is loaded potatoes with leftover shredded pork bbq, cheese, and any other toppings someone wants.

Gratitude today:
1. Another beautiful and blessed day.
2. Matt's almost done with classes and graduation in couple weeks.
3. Food Network---it's my tv filler. I love the baking championships and saw that worst cooks in America is coming back soon. I love that show! Makes me feel so much better about my cooking!

Peace and good health

Question of the day: 4/28: Ride the rides at theme parks?

Do you ride the rides at theme parks? Roller coasters? The log rides? Bumper cars? I do not ride a lot of thrill rides as I don't like them.
I've never been on Mission Space and I'll never go back on Tower of Terror. Funny story, Matt and I went to theme park when we newly engaged. I was trying to act all awesome and went on this roller coaster where you sit and your feet dangle. Did I mention I don't like roller coasters? I was yelling at him the whole time. I was yelling I change my mind, he can keep his stupid ring and he'd walk home when we got done. We stopped and the guy behind me asked if I still going to marry him and I said not if he doesn't get me out of that seat! I love the shows and just walking around and giving me the easy rides. I'm lazy person at heart.

Definitely not weird! That will make her day for sure! I am planning to visit my parents who are about an hour and a half away when we finally get a nice warm day here in New England. We will have a yard picnic while social distancing. Unfortunately, it has been too cold for my mom to sit outside so I haven’t been able to go see them.

I'm sorry and hope your day gets better and with not much damage to your pocketbook. We are having a/c problems. We have had problems since moving in this house. I'm dreading knowing the costs is about to get much bigger to fix this but as I told my cheap husband that be cheaper to pay once and be done then having them out several times over.

Not weird at all. I used to coupon pretty hard core. Id end up with all kinds of oddities and surpluses doing drug store deals. My friends all thought that the box of crap (any Woot! fans in here) that they'd get at Christmas in addition to real gifts was the best gift at all. And your crap is going to be useful! I predict it will be her favorite present.

I am not into thrill type rides that go in the air. I can handle a little thrill if it means getting wet. I can do spinning stuff all day long but my husband can not. Last summer with my nephews I found out my BIL and one nephew also cannot handle spinning rides. So I got to go on all of those with my one nephew that loves them. LOL

I do like the rides and do ride a lot of them
I can't do the spinning ones or the ones like Star Tours.
I will try them once to be sure!
Can't wait to get back to WDW and DLR.......the rest of the amusement parks I can pass on

Warm here too warm!!

Dinner tonight is an easy Mexican casserole and green salad.
Tomorrow is Costco day.......we'll see. I don't need anything in high demand, but my list is long and DIL and DD have added to it.

Good evening.

I had a turkey breast in the freezer so tonight was turkey, (instant) mashed potatoes, corn, gravy, and a can of cranberry sauce I found in the cabinet. A regular thanksgiving dinner for two.

The little boy, elementary age, across the street had his birthday today. He had a parade of about 6 cars of friends go by and lots of neighbors out wishing him Happy Birthday. I discovered a website to make a card. At least this mess is bringing neighbors together.

I love being outdoors! At home we have a screened porch which is my little hideaway.
We had a screened porch added at the end of last summer but didn't get furniture delivered until early November. We have used it a little but am really looking forward to using it this summer.

We had an issue in our last house, where one outlet in the kitchen that had a surge switch on it. Turns out, when that surge switch would "pop", it shut off power to all the outlets on the same circuit.
We had a ground fault circuit that included every outlet near a sink on two floors. The kids discovered if they pushed the test button another button popped out. We didn't know they had done this for about a day which is when we discovered that the basement freezer was on the same circuit. We had that changed soon after.

Other that WDW, I haven't been to an amusement park since 2003, unless you count Dutch Wonderland that my DGD enjoyed. I don't do thrill rides. Did Rock N Roller coaster once, never again. Never have done Tower of Terror. I did the walking part and bugged out at the cowards exit. I don't like elevators. I do like Soaring in spite of a fear of heights. I sound like a real wimp.

Gratitudes:
Nice dinner.
Good neighbors.
Message from my brother about a nice letter he got from our cousin with a sweet memory of our mother.

I used to ride every ride at every park we went to. Every roller coaster, thrill ride, water ride, count me in. As I've gotten older, I don't like them that much anymore. Like you Tina, I love to do the shows and walk around. I do still love Tower of Terror and Haunted Mansion . I would love to go and see the Star Wars rides, and Pandora though. LOL at your telling Matt he could keep the ring, guess he got you off the ride fast!
It rained again all day today, with the exception of about an hour and a half around noontime. I went out and weeded the rose garden and got that all mulched. Calling for rain most of the week, then getting into the mid to upper 70's for the weekend, so I will take it. By then the grass should need mowing again :(
I think your idea for your Mom is great, it must be hard on both of you ! Yeah for Matt graduating in a few weeks, have you come up with any ideas to celebrate it yet?

Had chicken burgers and made sweet potato fries (for the first time) in the air fryer, I loved them!

Grateful for one of my Sister in Laws, who lets me vent to my hearts content when I need to, as I do the same for her
Grateful for hubby's co workers who cover the work at the office that he can't be there to do , since he has to work from home for the duration
Glad to have this thread, still going, and letting all of us say what we need to say, knowing that some of our DIS family will understand, commiserate, and offer advice when needed!

I have a love/hate relationship with rides

1) I am a screamer(log flume, battering ram roller coasters)
2) I am a control freak so I think that is why I scream lol.
3) The roller coasters of today are scarier then the ones I grew up with and as I have become older, I know to pop some ibuprofen before I get my theme park on.
4) My dd is a ride rat. She loves to "pose" for the ride photos, I am not, lol.

Disclaimer: my first time on TOT. my fellow rider next to me grabbed my hand and I didn't try to get away I was scared of the ride.
At one point her boyfriend is like are y'all holding hands lol?!.

Good Evening everyone :)

Tina, I, too, think your plans sound lovely for your mother in law. my birthday is around that time, too :) I am sorry to hear you are also having a/c issues. Prayers that gets taken care of and at not to high a cost!

Hug, Gillep, I'm sorry you had such a bad day. May tomorrow be much brighter. Prayers also your electrical issue gets resolved.

I also ask for continued new a/c prayers. I will know more tomorrow. It sounds like the owner is denying his promise of two new units. What's more is that he thinks an acceptable solution is to re-install the old a/c's (which for months have been sitting in a most not clean storage room  ) Not going to happen especially right now!

I'm glad to hear some of you are also not thrill ride people. That will make our after Minnie Breakfast more fun to have some of us ride something slower together while anyone else goes on something faster. Lol, as is my avatar, Dumbo, is my speed! With my jaw joint issues, herky jerky does not work for me at all which is fine since I am not into coasters anyway.

I am most of all grateful to God today and every day for another day of health and home! Additionally :)

Discovered an Price is Right PC Game (CD) that still works! It was fun to play
A surprise message from a friend (while I was on another call with my neighbor)
I will echo that I, too, am grateful for a couple in particular real nice neighbors

I'm not a big ride person. The Jungle Cruise? Oh yeah. Pirates? sure. Roller coasters? Heck no. I am not into drops or going out of control at all. Poor DH, he loves coasters, and he married a chicken.

Dinner tonight was meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and corn. Good comfort food. I have enough leftover meatloaf to make sandwiches tomorrow, so I think I might throw a bread dough together tonight, before bed.

I don't think your plan is weird at all, it sounds great to me!!!! If my mom weren't on the other side of the country I would be planning similar adventures. I have no idea when I will be able to see her again and she is so depressed that our family Hawaii trip for next week was canceled, poor mom. I am going to have to go for a surprise visit once all this is over.

So no electrical fix today, or tomorrow. The soonest the supervisor can come is Thursday afternoon. I am so glad it is light out longer these days or we would be having some very interesting times. Oh well, it will all be fixed eventually, the joys of home ownership truly never cease!!!

Edited to answer the question: I like most amusement park rides but not a huge fan of the over the top thrilling ones. These days however, our WDW trips consist of about as much cabana time at Stormalong Bay as they do rides!

I'm a practical person and IMO, that gift sounds lovely, especially in this world at this moment. If I needed any of those things, I would be beyond grateful to receive them as a gift! And it reminds me of how my SIL has always said that she asks for toilet paper at Christmas...in fact, the year that she bought her first condo and was fixing it up, my MIL actually did get her a huge pack of TP as a Christmas gift. Wrapped it, put it under the tree, the whole deal. SIL says it's one of the best gifts she's ever received.

I never could ride bumper cars - for some reason they've always made me feel sick. And nothing that spins really fast. But until recently, everything else was game. I LOVED roller coasters! The thrillier, the better! DH and I were the crazy ones who would have our hands in the air the entire time.

And then I had 2 abdominal surgeries (on top of the one I had back in 2000) and started doing IVF. SO MANY injections in the belly. The last time DH and I went to the Magic Kingdom before Josh was born, we went on Space Mountain and I spent the entire ride trying to push the lap bar away from my belly, praying for the ride to be over quickly. It was excruciatingly painful. Not to mention that my head didn't quite feel right afterward either. I have issues with my ears and for the past several years, I've been having attacks of vertigo every 2 months or so, so I pretty much don't do roller coasters or the like anymore. Even carousels kind of mess with my head. At Legoland this year, I made the mistake of going on the Merlin's Challenge - I later found out that it wasn't recommended for someone with vertigo - and the Dragon roller coaster. Not only did I not feel well on the Dragon; Josh just made the height requirement and he's so skinny...the coaster literally went sideways at some points and I honestly thought he (with DH in the seat in front of me) was going to fall out.

I don't post gratitudes every day...how many times can I say that I'm grateful that another day/week has gone by and none of us are sick. But today I'm grateful to hear from our governor that our state is one week into a decline, and if it continues for another week we will then look at starting to open things back up. I am hopeful that Josh might get a final week or two of school, and especially have his preschool graduation. I know that is silly, that kids who really are graduating from high school or college aren't getting their graduations either, but he's my only baby and I just want to experience it all.

I meant to post that I did this yesterday, too. Always wanted to do one of these!
