Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Brace yourselves, this will be a long one, I'm trying to catch up since Monday!!!

I made carnitas tacos
We are newish to the whole carnitas thing, but let me tell you - it's delicious! It's our new go-to. So good!

I need to call the school tomorrow for Ella. She needs her classroom changed because of someone in the class
Hope your call went the way you wanted and Ella got into the classroom she wanted.
Have to go walk through the garden and pick more tomatoes that can be added to the giant bowl on the counter. Trying to eat a couple every day, plus the ones I give away, yet still can't keep up with them.
I've got so much tomatoes in the freezer now I had to stop putting them in there! Ours are on their way out- well the regular ones are, the cherry tomatoes seems to hang in a lot longer for us - and I will miss having fresh tomatoes around.
Sure enough, they're having a GIRL 🎀
Congrats!
I did get a Tusker House reservation for our trip in Oct. It was the day and time I wanted
Nice get! October will be here before you know it!
My back pain is still quite strong. I am coping the best I can. I am staying with the chiropractor who feels I hurt ribs coughing so hard with Covid, and perhaps strained something when weeding. My health care provider basically said it takes awhile. I feel the same as yesterday, but yesterday was much better than the day before. It’s definitely not a straight line healing.
I've got a wonky back, although most of the time it's fine. It's when I tweak it the wrong way (and I've come to learn what constitutes the wrong way for me) that it takes forever to get back to normal. You are so right, it for sure isn't a straight line healing. I hope today finds you feeling better.
We will leave tomorrow about 9 to get to the auto train.
Have fun!
Not much on my schedule as I am having some real knee pain today. I know I need to get it looked at but I can't do surgery because I need to take care of my husband and I don't want to inconvenience my kids.
Well, perhaps look at it this way. If you find yourself really blowing out your knee and needing a more involved operation/healing time your kids will have to help you & your husband, instead of just your husband. Maybe this IS the time to do it, I understand not wanting to inconvenience the kids but you've also got to take care of yourself. If not your kids, perhaps you can get a temporary service in to assist your husband? I put something off for YEARS because I was terrified of getting a operation, but once I finally did it I felt so, so much better. Good luck with your knee pain.
DD and I got two martinis
I approve this order :lmao:
Last night she apologized to my dad. They talked for half an hour. Dad said he felt such relief about that.
That's nice, I'm glad everyone was able to close the door on the situation and move forward. I'm all for a peaceful life, and no drama from those surrounding me!
Forgot the door completely. You will hear my screams if anyone is in the house, either upstairs or in the basement. Just kidding about that
HA! I've done that before, come home to one of the dogs outside on the porch - knowing I hadn't left them out. Operator error - I didn't close the door behind me all the way...
QOTD: Do you have traditions before your WDW, or other, trips?
hmmm? Well let's see, I like to leave the house clean and so I'm usually doing that last second. Now that I think about it, pizza does feature prominently in our night before vacation meals! I'm not a pre-packer, although I'll make sure the laundry is all done beforehand. I'll pack the evening before.
I do always stop and top the car off with gas and make sure I've got something in the freezer for a meal when we get home, and coffee & half & half in the fridge.
We are headed to San Diego on Monday, I haven't so much as looked at what clothing I will take (2 days of meetings plus a business dinner for both my husband and I).
I also give myself a headache trying to do backward math in determining when we should leave for the airport.
Today is the day!:cool1::smickey::tink::mickeyjum:goofy::donald:
Have a wonderful trip! Hope the traffic on 95 south treats you right, the train loads quickly & on time and the ride is smooth and without a hickup. Enjoy your trip to WDW. I don't need you to have a Dole Whip for me (sorry, yuck), but if you are so inclined you can enjoy a Kir Royal in France on my behalf!
She had a headlight out and got stopped, and they cited her for DUI. Issue is , she doesn't drink.
That is ridiculous! Dang, I would be marching myself into the court room and really letting them have it. I hope she gets the results she wants...what a waste of everyone's time, mostly hers.
so my question of the day, that I may post on the community board---Do you like cold pizza?
I do. I don't mind it at all. I usually heat it up if time allows but have grabbed a cold piece on more than one occasion in order to speed things up.

So, not much is going on with me. Just the usual. The weather lately has been downright beautiful with cool evenings & mornings, which we have been enjoying. The heat is coming back in tomorrow. But I'm okay with that, after all summer isn't over for a while yet! I think my husband and the youngest are going crabbing this afternoon. This weekend will be mowing as usual. Mid-Sept. we start bush hogging, and then mowing, the fields we let grow up, so my time up in the tractor will increase by a few hours...great time to catch up on some good audio books!

I need to clean my office, and organize some of the items I keep in stock (hi-vis stuff, hard hats, that sorta thing) in here. I think I'll concentrate on that this morning, then I need to put together an agenda for a few meetings I have at the end of the month or beginning of Sept. Not sure what is for dinner this evening - we will see if anyone will be home first and then go from there.

Have a good morning everyone -

Thanks for the suggestion! I never think to freeze things, usually just goes to waste (or the dogs). I'll freeze most of it tonight.
I put our chilis/soups in freezer ziplocks, and lay them flat on a lipped cookie sheet to freeze. The lipped sheet helps get them flat (leave a little room for expansion; once it's frozen, you can get the air out); and it helps keeps any mess contained, in the event the bag busts or leaks while it's freezing. It's so much easier to store flat, and if it's not fully thawed when we go to eat, I cut the bag to get the stuff out. (I hate tossing bags; I usually reuse 4+ times...so I use the older bags for this!)

I do the same with freezing items flat if possible. It makes storing them easier, that is for sure. And they defrost a bit quicker, or so it seems.

Happy Thursday 🐥

Love all the many shares this morning. Much 🙏 to all traveling for safe and fun trips filled with lots of happy times and good memories! Dad is currently at the dentist 🦷. Prayers please his visit goes safely and smoothly and that he truly feels comfortable with the dentist and hygienist, neither of whom he has ever met before. I'll update later. I next see my dentist on September 1st.

:grouphug:Pea, memorial services are never easy. Prayers you did find comfort in attending. Here’s to safe and fun trips either later this year and/or in 2023! Fun QOTD! Dad would love the blueberry bagels!

God Bless your DH, Kirby! Thank him for his kind service from me. What a great share 🌻

Much prayer to both you Carol ::MickeyMo and B&B ✈️, that you both enjoy fantastic and safe trips. I, also, look forward to seeing lots of pictures. Carol, I just read your later post. Hooray for Carter and Tessa, may they love their surprise and have a great time. How fun.

I’m glad the weather is still cooler out there, Snowysmom! Wishing you a peaceful Thursday :flower2:

Much prayer for your handyman and his wife, Lynn! You please keep cool 😎 out there and don’t overdo it.

I’m so glad to hear you have a relaxing pool 🏊‍♀️afternoon planned for tomorrow, Footballmouse! May work until then go quickly and smoothly!

 Easyas and what wonderfully wise words you shared to our friend Taz. Amen! I have no patience or desire for drama or negativity. I choose always Jesus and Joy. Be happy. Have fun in SD! I wish we weren’t still in Covid times. SD is 2 ½ or so hours from me. DL is much closer at 45-1 hour on the way to SD.

:) that we have two QOTD's today. QOTD1: The last trip I took was to DL for one night in May, 2019. Tried to everything ready to the night before including keeping separately and easier to access tickets, hotel reservation printout, etc. Breakfast the morning of was definitely a quicker meal. I am a homeboy 100%. The morning of a trip was always fun as it felt new with fun possibility. LOL, I also remember at times feeling on a trip that I would rather be home. These days, it will be joy to safely one day take a trip to the laundromat or Ralph's. Fun to think about future trips, God-willing both to everyday places and at least once to DL along with possibly a Dodger day game for dad, as well.

QOTD2: I've never enjoyed completely cold pizza but have eaten it lukewarm before and found it at times better than hot because it was somehow less heavy that way.

Have a wonderful Thursday, friends. I will check back later.

I do like cold pizza but preferably thin crust.

Its a cool 78 degrees outside!!!! A cool front blew through and the high is supposed to be 83 today. What a blessing! Its been cloudy all day, sprinkled a little earlier. The weather map shows we may be receiving some much needed rain in a little while. Just hear some thunder!!!!

Lou Lou and I went to Kroger this morning. She took her little clutch purse with jewelry and makeup inside just in case she needed it. Walking up to the store she told me she just had to sit down a minute. So she did and opened up her purse, got out a nail file and proceeded to "fix" her thumbnail. Then in the produce area she just had to put on some more lipstick. :rotfl:She cracks me up!

Received a call from one of my dad's sisters a minute ago. Their youngest sister is in the hospital with sepsis caused by a kidney stone. If you would keep her and her family in your prayers I would appreciate it.

Dad finally called a few minutes ago, poor guy. He had a lot of needed work done. Grateful extra to God it is done and that he felt comfortable being there. He was very much impressed with the dentist office and staff. He especially liked the hygienist. He's on his way home now. He did say he may need to go back in a couple weeks so they can be sure everything looks okay. Don't know yet what that means but I am glad they are taking the care and time to want to do a follow up! Thank you all, always, for your extra prayers. Keep cool and have a good afternoon!

God Bless precious Lou Lou, Kirby. She sounds adorable! Hugs and much prayer on your dad's sister!

QOTD: I love cold pizza. Sometimes I will heat it up just enough so it isn't cold cold but lukewarm. Now I need pizza!

Hope every who is traveling has a safe trip and has fun.

I just got back from the farmstand. It is really a nice store with lots of foods including produce, baked goods, potato and macaroni salad, and cheeses and snacks. I have to be focused on what I need to get and stay away from the treats. I went to Target too as I do not have stapler for some reason. I am sure I threw it out in cleaning out the house. I also got some chocolates for Chris' cousin who is in the nursing home. I got some trail mix for me as a treat.

Unfortunately Chris' cousin Joe is failing quickly so we are not sure how long he will be with us. Younger DS and I hope to see him Saturday but not sure how things will go between now and then. I want to see him one more time to say goodbye. Plus we will have to go to the nursing home to tell Joe's sister when he passes. She is in her mid 80's and has dementia. He told her that he was sick and not seeking treatment but he was not sure how much she understood. It seems like he went from tests and diagnosis to a rapid decline within a month. It was quick.

I have been doing some housework to keep busy. I vacuumed half the condo and washed the wood floors. The person below me probably heard me scraping the kitchen chairs along the floor. I didn't mean to but I had to move them to clean the floor. I am not sure how well soundproofed this place is as I am on the top floor. I took the trash to the trash chute, took another walk, and had to log back into work to send an email. I also did 3 laundries. Next I may vacuum the rest of the condo. I am feeling very stressed and anxious so need to work it out.

Have a good rest of the day.

Kitchen floor washed this morning,,then I mowed the whole lawn. Of course 20 min after I finish, handyman shows up and I had to spend almost 4 hours helping him get the new front door in. Had a heck of a time with it. But it's in. He also measured for the gutters and will be back on Monday to put the storm door in. Hopefully the gutter company can come out within a couple of days and make them and just leave them in the yard. I will help handyman put them up, as they don't weigh anything
I am tired,,am off for a hot bath and then bed
Have a nice evening all..

Been getting pictures of the kids feeding animals at the farm where there airbnb is.. They are in for the night, and so are we. Our steward has turned our roomette into bunk beds.

Had a nice and fun dinner with DD’s in-laws. (I’m going to call them M&C from now on.). We were sitting across from 2 guys who were funny. C was explaining how we were related and it was all very cordial. And I thought the food was good.

Now I need pizza
Sorry. :rotfl2:
I went to Target ….I got some trail mix for me as a treat.
I love Target’s trail mix.

Off to sleep soon.
