Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

It is nice to talk about something different!!

Just got off a cruise Saturday and then they stopped cruising.
So DH is out today getting wood and supplies to keep him busy for awhile. He is in quarantine (family mandated) since he has lung issues.
We are retired. I have lots of things to keep me busy since I am way behind on crafting, etc.
Since we were gone for over a week, we have lots of recorded shows to watch.......and then some movies.

I finished a book on a plane coming home so will hopefully start a new one today or tomorrow.
My only outings will be grocery store runs.

Joined the Dis when a friend on another Disney board was talking about it.

We're having chicken fajitas for dinner tonight

I was thinking about you the other day and all your travelling, Nancy. I know that's going to be rough on you as it's going to be rough on me not going to my casino. We will weather this.......I hope.

This is lovely!

Hello all, I'm Dawn or Goblin if you prefer. Today is my normal lazy day so I'm playing with the pets and having leftovers (hubs said takeout tomorrow not today. I whined, I'll admit it). Made a biiiig pot of chili recently and it turned out delicious! Might do the Cinci thing and put it on spaghetti tonight. It's just me and the husband and a boatload of animals here in a small house. Somehow there's still always mountains of dishes and laundry. I'll get to that tomorrow. 😉

I just finished Castlevania season three (SO GOOOD!) and now don't know what to start on. I keep going through the horror movie selection but nothing is grabbing me. Might just watch the Ritual for the millionth time, I'm a sucker for a good creature flick.

Yep just cancelled a short trip to Tucson with DGD.......but we'll do it again,
Not as excited about our May WDW trip maybe not happening. We will wait and see.

NYCgrrl, here. The lockdown isn't changing much of my life as I'm already semi retired and any work I do only requires my laptop. Biggest change is that my gym is temporarily closed down so no pool time for me:(. Not the same but walked up 10 flights to try and keep in shape today; good for the lungs. My goal for the next few weeks will be to make it up to the 16th floor w/o collapsing onto an elevator to end the journey, LOL.

Bulk cooking, prep and freezing is a norm in my life so spent the morning roasting 4 lbs of Chinese roast pork, making pork and chicken stock, and a pot of plain rice.

Tonight's dinner is roast pork noodle soup and I make it often enough that I no longer need a recipe. However this is the link that gave me the confidence to add it to my regular repertoire:

Cook's Notes: No small bok choy available? Use larger and quarter chop. Leaf spinach or any dark greens make a fine substitute or addition; same for peapods. Silken tofu is great for the vegans/vegetarians as a meat replacement and of course just use a meatless stock. You can always use Italian pasta to replace the Chinese rice or wheat noodles. Perfect when you cook too much and it's in the fridge as a leftover.

Our headphones have been so useful, I am so thankful for them. I needed some time yesterday away from my husband in our small house, so I just put my headphones on and started up my audio book and folded some laundry and washed up some dishes and enjoyed my book.
The problem with me wearing headphones is I tend to sing at the top of my lungs when I'm wearing them at home. :rolleyes1:rotfl::ssst::confused3

Hi! Love the idea for a light thread. :goodvibes

Besides me here, it's DH (who already worked from home) and DS (who is technically on "spring break" from college right now, but his school is going on line) plus two kitty cats.

I roasted a turkey breast yesterday, which we had with stuffing and veggies. Tonight I'll work the leftover turkey into a spaghetti sauce for a second life.

Oh, and I just finished reading:

I'm FlightlessDuck because ducks should be able to fly, but Donald couldn't fly without magic in Mickey's Philharmagic. My real name I would like to keep to myself ;)

Anyway, I'm a software developer and my office sent us all home to work remotely for at least two weeks. So I am still working and getting paid. My wife is a teacher, and is home for two weeks because the governor closed the schools. My adult daughter is a music therapist for a hospice but can't visit any of her patients because none of the nursing facilities are letting "non essential personnel" in. My son is a sophomore in college and is having classes remotely for 3 weeks. The school closed while he was home for spring break. So all four of us are home, basically.

My son's girlfriend is coming over every evening after work because she's all alone in her apartment otherwise. Her roommate/sister went halfway across the state to visit their parents because her work closed down.

My parents both turn 79 this year, and I have two relatives on immunosuppresents. So we are taking this whole thing very seriously.

We had crockpot beef stroganoff for dinner yesterday. Not sure what we are cooking today yet, but it will be good.

This is a wonderful idea! I'm Liz and I live in CT, on the MA border. My anxiety and depression have been getting worse with all the virus talk; the posters on my town's open forum on FB are getting REALLY nasty - I'm scared to set foot outside my house - and I've had several attacks of what I would call hopelessness since Thursday. So I appreciate a thread like this!

We're grateful that we were able to get our annual trip to Florida done before this happened. We drove and our first stop was Legoland. It was AWESOME!!! We still miss it. Then we went to visit my in-laws in Clearwater for a few days before driving home. We worried about my in-laws being able to come home, being on a plane, but they arrived a week ago and are doing well.

My 4.5-year-old is still able to go to preschool for now. It's a private school held in a church, and there are many single parents with children who go all day. My son is only in 3 hours per day, but today he was the only one in his class to attend (there were 3 boys from the other 4-year-old class as well). I will be surprised if they stay open past tomorrow. I'm looking up things to keep my son occupied; he has the attention span of a gnat and is like a tornado, going from one thing to another within seconds. On today's walk around the block, he asked me a lot of questions about our neighborhood, where I've lived in the same house since 1976, so I thought maybe we could start doing doing some research on our town's history. I also want to see what's on Netflix for him - he loved Ask the Storybots. And we've already watched all of the Lego movies multiple times.

My DH is a loan servicer for a credit union, so he still has to work. He did agree with me that he could try suggesting that people mostly work from home, but maybe rotate schedules and only go in for things that are needed - for example, one of his duties is to print and mail checks to members, so perhaps he could get things ready from home and go in just to print them?

We also live with my mother, who is retired and not scared of people getting angry with her for going out. She is making our traditional St. Patrick's Day dinner tonight; our kitchen smells of corned beef simmering in beer in the slow cooker.

Before our library closed down, I was able to get some books - I'm currently reading The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde, and next up is The High Tide Club by Mary Kay Andrews. My son has 6 books we still need to read, plus his entire personal collection (and I also have to go through the Scholastic flyers that were sent home yesterday...) :)

Fun idea Tina!
I'm a Army Mom myself.
New to Dis (within the last year I think about two years now), charter member of the Dixie Landings Honeymoon Club.
Oddly enough our discussion was about WTP & WWTP's last night as well - but it's our business (build them, we don't hook residences up-) so sometimes we bring work home ha ha!
At the moment the entire office smells like Lysol, as someone was very liberal with it and it has permeated the hallways and the smell is turning my stomach.
Not sure what I'm making for dinner tonight, but one of us needs to hit the beer store on the way home. MD just announced a bunch of public space closing and we are out of wine...EMERGENCY EMERGENCY!:scared:
We've got two pups, plus a foster pup who came to us yesterday, so a bit of a full house at moment. We'll be enjoying a walk with all the dogs down to the duck pond after work this evening.
It's going to be really nice at the end of the week here, which is nice as we have a lot of bush hogging to get to this weekend.
My son's girlfriend graduates college in two months, it's looking like they'll be getting engaged. We've met her folks a few times, and her sister. The whole family is just as nice as could be and she's just delightful.

Hey! We honeymooned at Dixie Landings as well. 1993 :)

Thanks for starting this thread, Tina! Just hanging out playing with the kids (young adults) who are stuck home. Hoping to read a book or knit a blanket. But it's hard to sit still. House is definitely getting cleaner - burning off nervous energy! LOL

Hang in there everyone!

Great idea! We have been enjoying having our windows open the past few days with spring-like weather. We are walking the dog more often for sure! I'm going to bake cookies tomorrow. DS13 is happily ramping up his YouTube channel and has begun a workout routine because his scout troop is (hopefully) heading for Northern Tier this summer. He will need to carry canoes over his head and move the big packs of food and equipment throughout their 6-day canoe journey. He wants to "get buff".

zombie stories dominate during economic boom times while vampires show up more when the economy is slumping

I watched the Twilight marathon on Freeform yesterday! Twilight and Milanos. I mean, what else would anyone need?

Loved The Eyre Affair! So different. Did you know it's a series?

obstacle courses, hide the thimble (sub any small toy and give “hot and cold” clues), you tube videos of kids' exercise songs, “How many things can you do with a ____?” ( like for books - besides reading, you can build bridges with them, search for the letters in your name, trace the pictures...)

I found some preschool suggestions for my niece and nephew here as well:
