Mona-believe it or not, 2 different salesmen told me that appliances aren't made to last more than 5 years, that I was 'lucky' that it lasted 7. So I suppose that means that the dryer will be the next to go, since it was bought at the same exact time. When you have to spend hundreds of dollars on an appliance, you expect it to last longer than that!

Dryers are a simpler operation so it may last a bit longer and may be simpler (and cheaper) to get fixed. Lots of people do youtube videos for dryers.

Washers are more a pain in the posterior.

I bought a Speed Queen in 2018 and I'm hoping it will give me good service. 7 years old now. Crossing my fingers I'm not on here very soon saying I need to buy a new one!

Before that I had a Maytag Washer that we bought in 1984 and it lasted until 2018 = 34 years. Maytags are no longer what they were back in the 70ties and 80ties. I don't think anything is.

Meanwhile my ice maker in my fridge died just out of warranty! Haven't attended to it yet, and not sure how I'll handle it, as another option is to buy a countertop one. Might be cheaper in the long run. Love my fridge so not ready to switch anytime soon.

Hug dear Judique and good to see you! :)

Dad left just a little while ago. I miss him already. I looked at a calendar this morning and saw that my birthday is in about 4 1/2 weeks. How I pray to be home and back to normal by then. As always, my thanks to each of you for helping, encouraging, and praying for me to get there.

Good late afternoon and evening with love to all.

It's been a day. They were supposed to be here between 11:30 and 3:30. Called at one and were here 5 min later. 2 hours later they were still here. First of all, 1 of them spoke no English and the other one could at least converse. They talked to each other in Spanish the entire time they were here. I found it rude.

I made them unbox it outside, in the rain. Dent at the back of one side. I made them call Lowes. If I didn't get some kind of a discount, I was refusing it. They brought it into the kitchen out of the rain. He called the customer service hot line and after 15 min on hold, he spoke to some lady (in Spanish). I told him I wanted to talk to her. She says she had to go talk to her supervisor. 20 min on hold before she came back and said they'd offer me $25 on an e gift card. I refused, saying I wasn't going to be forced to use it at Lowes to buy something I didn't want.

I wanted it back on my Visa. Had to go talk to her supervisor again. another 15 min, and keep in mind these guys are standing in the kitchen doing nothing. Then the call gets disconnected. By now I'm getting upset. I call the local store and can't get past the recording, it just kept doing nothing. On the fifth try, my phone rings and it's the other lady calling back, a full 20 min after being disconnected, no apology for the wait, or for disconnecting me. She says they'll be nice and refund it to my card as a one time courtesy.
I hang up and they take the new washer down and hook up the hoses and the guy says there you go. Oh, the hoses they told me I HAD to buy ($38), the guy said I didn't need them, I could return them. I said you aren't leaving until you level it and test it. He didn't even know how to start the washer. He had forgotten to turn the water back on too. Finally it starts, so I said, okay, cancel it and go to drain and spin. He pressed the cancel button and it didn't stop. I said you have to hold it in for 30 seconds (it's printed right on the washer). Finally he gets it and they leave

But I decided I wasn't happy with any of the way I was treated, and called the store again. I got past the recording by saying I wanted a manager. I got a very nice lady who was appalled at what had gone on. She made notes, and put me on hold to see what else she could do. Disconnected, but at least she called me right back. I ended up getting a total of $120 refunded, plus she told me to return the hoses to the store, even though she had refunded me for them. She filed a complaint with customer service. She more than made up for it, but it cost me 3 1/2 hours of my time to fix things.

Now they think Summer has something called, Sjogren's Syndrome. It happens a lot with rheumatoid arthritis. She has the symtoms of it, dry eyes, dry mouth etc. They want her to have a biopsy on her lip when the ENT calls her for an appointment. She said it can also cause cold , blue fingers and hands and hypothyroidism. Just what she needed, more problems :(

That's been my day, along with pouring rain and a raging headache, wonder why, lol

I did a load of towels and it works fine, so hopefully everything is good for now.

Lynn What an adventure with your washer! Not one that you wanted! Thankfully you found a good customer service manager to help. Unfortunately these days it is more the norm to have issues like yours. It sounds like Summer is closer to getting a diagnosis and hopefully treatment for her issues.

Mona That nursing home does sound dreadful. I do wonder how they keep in business with the issues. Keep making good progress and you can get back home hopefully before your birthday.

Good morning. It is snowing here right now. Temp is 35. Winter just needs to leave. Yesterday I did get to walk at the lake but won;t be back there until next week with the snow and rain this weekend. I an appt this morning in my old area and then lunch with my MA friend.

Have a good day.

Good morning. Going to be 51 with chance of rain today and tomorrow. Dreary and gray outside.

Summer called me on the way home from picking Gracie up at work, she wanted to hear about the washer saga, lol. She's going to call me today and fill me in on the entire doctor appointment and to tell me more about what they say she has and how they plan to treat it.

Not planning on doing much today. I was so overwound last night I couldn't fall asleep until 3 am, so I need a nap already.

@Snowysmom Hoping Kenny hears soon about his divorce. Unless I missed an update, I think you were hoping it would be this week.

Have a good day everyone

Good morning dear friends.

Dear Snowysmom, thank you so much. I have no clue how this horrible place stays open either! I do know over the last several years there have been a few ownership changes so maybe that is part of it. Enjoy your lunch and time with your friend.

Dear Lynn, many prayers you enjoy a peaceful day. Prayers of course for Summer, too. I was thinking yesterday your horrible customer service experience sounded straight out of this place.

I am extra blessed this morning to have my mom friend L as my nurse. God worked this out perfect as always. A may be here later. I will be able to surprise her with her mom here. I also have a surprise gift for dear L.

I look forward to my first pt session with Susan around 9am. Dad God willing will be here for lunch. I shall update later. Love to all.

We are having appliance issues, too. Fridge also having icemaker issues. (A must-have for DH.) We’ve been buying bags of ice and it’s a pain. Would be expensive to fix, which DH already did once. I wondered about the little ice makers they have now for the countertop and DH said it would be expensive to run as it’s a compressor. DD has one but hasn’t set it up yet. As it is we already have three fridges and two washer/dryers so our electric bills are already high.

So we went to look at new fridges and I found one I liked, on sale at a decent price. It was $30 more on their website than in store (Lowe’s) so a salesman did the purchase with me over the phone. Decided to go w up and down rather than side by side, which is so small. Had one here originally and we liked it better. We have to get a relatively small fridge too (31 cubic feet) as we have stairs next to where it stands.

So we had it delivered on Wed. DH took the day off. Had to buy an icemaker separately that goes w the fridge. It’s currently installed but not working right, we have to figure that out. (Water spilled ugh.) We also have a small issue w the door not opening all the way without hitting the island (which wasn’t here originally) 😂 but if we push it back from the front, we can. (Always something!) So we think once the icemaker gets going we should be able to put some wood blocks under the two front wheels to tilt it back so the door will open fully 😂 but we’re hopeful that won’t impede the icemaker water flow. Another option is to trim the granite 1/2 inch but we’d rather not do that if we can help it. We’ll figure it out.

In refiguring out downstairs rooms after new flooring we washed a ton of blankets to donate and, you guessed it, our washing machine stb! 😵 We’re gonna fix it but waiting for appliance person to call us back. Such a pain! Thankfully I can use DD’s as we just got new mattresses delivered and I’m washing a ton of sheets and mattress toppers, etc., but hers is just a small up and down apt size so I don’t want to break it.

We’ve had guys in and out of here w boots on I covered up my new floors so they wouldn’t get muddy and scratched. What a mess! Bought new runners and throw rugs for entrances. This is probably the worst time of year for this as it’s wet and muddy outside. But we’ll eventually get everything straightened out.

Some of my hair started coming out yesterday so it’s probably a good distraction.

Have a good Friday. 🐣 Sorry if typos I'm using my phone.

Good evening slipping thread save. I've had an extra blessed day. Dad's visit, of course, being the highlight. My dear mom friend L haa been my nurse both shifts. 7am to 3pm and this current 3pm to 11pm shift. A is also working this shift. I just saw her when she came to cut my roommate A's fingernails. L said she would tell me when the right time is to give A her surprise. It will mean a lot to me to surprise A especially with L here. I will truly surprise L. L assured me A loves surprises and that she does, too. We both agreed that neither of us would want to have people jump out at us for a surprise party, no thanks!

9 (wow has time flown) years ago now I was given a very small (maybe half a dozen people at most all of whom I knew and liked) surprise birthday celebration at church. That year my birthday was on a Thursday which was choir rehearsal night. I always volunteered in the afternoon beforehand. I was very touched but between us would have much preferred being told about the party ahead of time and having the friends attending be the true surprise. Still a nice memory :)

I also did end up having my 2nd therapy session. It was just much later than usual but went well. I even saw A for the first time today in the hallway.

I am so praying to be home by my birthday. What a gift that will (thinking positive) be. I told dad if all I do is sit on our couch all day, I will be thrilled! Doesn't matter because together with God, dad and I would both be home. Thank you all again with all my heart for your prayers, encouragement, and belief that God willing this will happen.

Love to all. If I don't come back later, sweet dreams :)

Good snowy morning. It is snowy heavily here which is crazy but not totally unusual for April. I figure I will do some housework and wait for the snow to stop before doing errands. I had a nice lunch with my MA friend yesterday. She always make me feel good. We support each other. This will be quiet weekend again. I am making a pulled pork in the crock pot for the week. I may need to freeze some but that is OK.

Have a good Saturday.

Here is a picture of the snow outside my deck area. It just stopped but we have 1-2 inches of snow and the road is covered. I will need to shovel the driveway and walkway as I am sure the snow removal people will not come in for this snow.

Good morning. Cloudy, but not calling for rain. It rained last night, so I hope today things start to dry out so by tomorrow I can do yard work.

I don't know what I'll get into today except for the usual strip/remake the bed, do laundry and clean bathrooms. I didn't sleep well, so that may be all that gets accomplished.

Mona--Please don't just 'sit on the couch' with Dad when you finally get home. Keep up with the moving, walking, and getting stronger!

Have a good day

Aww, that’s so sad, Snowysmom! Here we have just rain, thankfully. Good news is that it will be gone, hopefully, soon, as the week warms up. It’s too late in the season for this, time for spring! 😬

I just had a quick story that Lynn will appreciate. When DH got home yesterday, after I’d washed all the bedding (including pillows run over to the big machines in the laundromat), we went to make the bed and discovered as we were adjusting the bed slats that the brand new king size mattress delivered in the morning had a hole in the bottom of it!! 😲 I’m not sure how that happened as it was wrapped in plastic when they brought it upstairs to the bed. So I took a picture of it along with the info on the mattress (to show it’s the same one) and called the company. They said they could replace it but I said I didn’t want to replace it, it’s ok functionally, but my brand new mattress that I paid full price for (on sale) shouldn’t have a hole in it, and I’d prefer it to be discounted since it’s all made and I do not have the energy to go through all that again. (I’d covered up the new floors so the delivery guys didn’t wreck them w their boots and such as it’s muddy outside. I still had to clean up a mess and there is a catch in one of my brand new runners.) Anyway, she said that was fine but they’d need to send an “inspector” out to see it, and can we schedule that next week? I said no, I actually have chemotherapy next week and don’t want to deal with waiting a whole day for someone to show up here when I should be resting (we’ve had so many of those lately, and still have the applicance person coming the day after my chemo) and don’t want to mess up the bed as it’s made nicely now, etc. But basically that was the only way they’d consider compensation. I told her I had pictures and that should suffice, and that the delivery people never mentioned anything to me (they had to have seen it). I’d tipped them very generously too. Was pretty pissed by the time I got off the phone. So nada. Going to write to corporate.

The other thing I’d mentioned was that we were supposed to get compensated for the white glove delivery service that we never got for the sectional. The floor guys were still working when they got here so we had to have them leave it out front and when the floor guys were done, we brought it in and set it up ourselves. And it was a lot! I got a cut on my hand that still hasn’t healed right. We spent a couple of hours on it. So same company as above says they can only compensate us $50 because there were four pieces to the sofa and each one cost $75 to deliver or something silly like that. I told her that was the first time I’d heard that and that we’d spent a lot of time w the salesperson discussing delivery options. My understanding that there was one delivery fee of $75 vs the White Glove which was $300+. So much discussion back and forth with their supervisor (while making dinner) and the most they would give me back was $150. I took it but will also mention that to corporate when I write. The delivery drivers themselves said we should get compensation for not getting what we paid for. Ugh. Happy with the merchandise generally but have a feeling this is not an honest company now. Lynn you seemed to have better luck at Lowe’s!

Have a good Saturday, guys, have to run out! 🐣

Good morning dear friends from early Saturday cool LA. Yesterday was in the low
80's. It is supposed to be cooler today.

Dear Snowysmom, hug and please be safe and stay warm. I know you brighten up your MA friend's spirit, you do so for all of us.

Dear Lynn, hug, you have my word that I won't only be sitting around at home. I just can't wait to be home :)

Hug dear Pea with feel better prayers. Oh no. I'm sorry that you also have had customer service trouble. A mattress hole would be something expected here not in a brand new delivery! You absolutely need good sleep!

Grace of God, I got some good sleep. I am also so blessed to be gaining strength
every day. God truly touched my life with L and A. They loved their surprises. I was given the extra gift of spending time with them both together which brightened my evening. We also don't live all that far from each other and will keep in touch. I would love to do so.

The same person who was yelling in Spanish and English a lot of yesterday is back at it. At least a different person stopped cursing. Sadly there is most always some type of not quite at ease vocal noise around here. Home will be extra sweeter fot the greater peace.

Have a great day everyone. I will check back in later.

I would have done as you did with the mattress. You took pictures, which should have been enough proof for them. What would sending out an inspector do, they would look at it and take pictures, the same as you did. I don't complain unless I have a good reason, but when I know I'm in the right, I don't give up until I get what I feel is the right compensation. If I were you, and you aren't happy with the resolution they gave you, take it up to the next step, perhaps corporate of whatever company(s) you're dealing with. I know you aren't feeling well right now, and I'm sorry this happened to you.

I agree with you, delivery people should be noticing these things. Especially the ones who deliver for Lowes. They weren't even going to tell me it was damaged. I found the dent myself by looking carefully. Then the guys tells me it's the third appliance they'd delivered out of the 9 so far that day, that had been damaged.

Lynn I put a like because I agree with you are saying. It is sad to think that delivery services and the goods they deliver are subpar. I am thinking of getting a new chair for my living room to replace the one I brought from my old house and is about 12 years old. But I am concerned about delivery and all the nonsense. Plus I haven't fully made the decision because Chris and I bought it together. These delivery stories are really sad. There should be pride and caring in what they do.

Pea Pictures should be enough. They are just being obstinate and not customer service oriented.

Flyingdumbo127 When you get home being active will be your friend. :) That leads to better healing and makes you just feel better. I know you will do more than sit on your couch. Continue the good progress you are making!

I went out to do errands and the parking lot at the shopping plaza I go to was a mess! You had to walk in 2 inch deep slush to get to a clear area. I was so careful! They were starting to clean it off but where have they been all morning? The snow started in very early morning as it was almost done when I got up at 6. The snow removal people did come here to do the roads and common areas. That was all. I shoveled my driveway and walkway so it won't freeze I know it will melt in the next day or 2 but I want it cleared. Now I am going to sit down, put on Hallmark for a bit, and finish my coffee. Then on to more chores.
