:grouphug:Footballmouse, your son will always need you. Thank you for being such a loving and mos special part of his life. God Bless You truly. Thank you for all you and your kind co-workers do that make such a life saving difference to all you care for. What a lovely way to remember your mom🏊‍♀️🙏That your new tradition will bring you and your sisters extra peace. From Heaven, your mom by God's grace, will be extra with all of you on that June day to come, too. My grandpa's birthday was June 7th and a church pastor and friend's birthday is June 8th.

Lynn:hug:and continuing painting prayers. Dad and I enjoyed a Sherwin Williams commercial at one time of either 🌸or 🎈in pretty, vibrant colors. Thank you so much for your Kohl's good wishes. It is so humbly exciting to be going. I pray we are able to get something today that will be given either close to home or through my church's ministry to those living in the park. May we also, always, of course be able to pass on a smile or even kind word that will be of witness and brighten someone's day.

Thank you, dear Lynn, Footballmouse, too, and all of my Quacker family for always for helping spread love and care to us and all.

I would appreciate safe Kohls trip prayers and of course one that keeps dad and I in good health. Such blessing that very shortly we will be :car: not to the dentist but to Kohls. It will be my first store experience other than that one time a couple of years ago for 10 minutes or so up front at Staples since April 2020! No matter what, I am so very thankful indeed. I will share all about our 🛍️this afternoon. :) Dad, God Bless him, may be more happy than I am. It fills my heart with added thanksgiving to God to believe today is a step closer to my being able to one day help dad with daily errands and laundry. First, time for me to get ready to go to Kohls :)

Have a wonderful, :tigger:iffic Tuesday Friends. Let someone know extra today that you care about and love them. Of course, always, give thanks to Him for all. I do and for all of you.

Wow super quiet around here this Tuesday. Many prayers all of you are warm, well, and enjoying a good Tuesday. Freezing (for me) here but by the Grace of God what a heartwarming day it has been!

Dad and I arrived at Kohls a good twenty minutes before they opened at 9. There's a 99 Cent Only Store in the same strip mall and parking lot as Kohls. My Quacker family, guess who had the best time at 99? Me! My first true store experience since early April 2020! I don't easily feel choked up, but I sure did just going inside that store. I pray to have given extra thanks to God first just seeing the signs for Kohls and 99 let alone going inside each store as well.

It was such fun in general and meant a ton to also get to see as dad said some old, familiar things. The very first thing I found were 🌈shaped napkins which go well with the rainbow design "Celebrate," plates, cups, and napkins dad had gotten at our 99 last weekend. Extra reminder of God and His LOVE. He keeps His promises in all ways and likewise is indeed always with and for, beside us.

Dad took a picture of me holding an oversized, "Happy Birthday," Gift Bag. Today isn't yet my birthday but what an extra gift it has been. I also found the exact 🧁print birthday wrapping paper that dad had been looking for at Dollar Trees for over a year. We got a few extra needed items, too. The only thing they didn't have were any antibacterial hand wipes which is once again a hard-to-find item out here. I waited in the car while dad went through the line.

99 was one of the very last places I went to back in March 2020. At that time, Covid had truly just started, and I remember the overall feeling of unease all around. Stores were out of everything as well. What a time. Dad and I that morning thanks to God were able to first go to a Food 4 Less, now out of business, on the way to a bigger 99 further away from us than the 99 he goes to almost weekly but still here in the city. At Food 4 Less, we were finally able to get paper towels and toilet paper at the limit at that time I believe of 2 of each item. At 99, we spent heading towards $99! More like $50+ Never had we spent so much at a 99. What a blessing it was to be able to do so that day on very needed items.

So, fast forward to this morning. A totally opposite experience of hope and other than dad along with a couple others wearing masks, "normal" times. Extra testimony to the Love and Mercy of God and to His Truth that He makes all things and us new. Absolutely He uses all He has called according to His purpose when we trust in Him as written in Romans.

Kohls itself was very disappointing. Dad and I agreed that the quality of clothing had gone down since late 2019 or very early 2020 which would have been our last trip to a Kohls. The women's clothing was mostly bigger sizes. There was one almost pair of jeans I liked. The problem was that they were too big and we didn't see a smaller size. Most of the women's jeans either were in bigger sizes, had torn knees (I have never understood the appeal of that. Honestly to me, that comes across as even more disrespectful to those who truly are not able to afford ANY jeans or for whom, like dad and I, money is tighter), or had the hidden slimming elastic thick waistband which by the extra grace of God, being so thin now, I don't need or even like since to me a thicker waistband feels like a rubber band! It meant so very much to have the privilege of looking around and actually trying on a few things.

We did get a colorful new kitchen rug for under $6 thanks to the kind Kohls chat agent who gave me my $10 birthday reward that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. You do have to make a purchase of recent times in order to receive it which, of course, I hadn't. Our $20 Kohls Gift Card doesn't expire so we will use that another time.

We steered clear as best we could of others. Overall, I felt comfortable being in both places, especially 99. I would only ever go to a store right at open. Thank God, so far, we both feel fine. I'm just a little tired having gotten up earlier this morning due to being excited :)

Dad and I both are now extra looking forward to going to JC Penney God willing, next Tuesday. Penney's always had a bigger selection than Kohls. Plus, much better overall prices. Added blessing is that since we spent under $6 at Kohls, we will have the rest of the money we had brought with us intending to use at Kohls for Penney's plus the Penny's gift card we got as a credit card reward and my birthday free $10 coupon to come.

Otherwise, I would love to sometime go to Target and possibly Old Navy. We both need new 👖especially, of course, dad who goes out. I don't need jeans to sit here on our 🛋️ :)

All good and how sincerely blessed we were to get to go and of course come home safely, too.

Enjoy the rest of the day, friends. Thank you again for all your prayers and encouragement, too.

Good morning! Had a super busy work weekend and was pretty beat! When I came on here I tried to catch up here but inadvertently got wrapped up in some of the controversial threads, lol.

@Kirby, I am so happy to hear about your son! That’s wonderful news. Continued prayers. 🙏

@flyingdumbo127 Wow! I’m so proud of you taking those first steps! I hope you keep it going! I agree about Kohl’s.

Thinking of everyone else here, too. Hope vacations are going well. And renovations. Ours is coming along. Things slowed a little since DS has had his concussion. Saturday he’d done maybe a little too much (cutting boards out in the sun) and had to stop and rest with a headache. He’s really frustrated because he’s usually on the go most of the time. This has forced him to slow down. But most of the trim work is done now, and I liked the color we chose. We still have to paint the built-in bookcases, but the ceiling is painted, and they put up the farmhouse lights I bought for the space and they look really nice. Still laughing about the rug squares but I think they’re going to look really nice and liven up the space once it’s done. Those will go down last.

One job I’m dreading is taking the slipcovers off the Crate and Barrel sofas we have down there (2) and bringing them to the laundromat to give them a good washing and bleach (they’re white). They look really nice when done (we’ve done it several times before) but it’s a big job. And DS pointed out that one of them has a small hole so I will have to see what I can do about that. (New covers are like $2K each! My MIL used to patch them nicely for us if need be - had other similar sofas upstairs, too - taking a piece from the back and sewing it on. It’s a high order for me but we’ll see if I can do something with it.) Will have to get some sort of blanket to keep on there as Grady likes to sit down there with DS when he’s gaming or doing his flight simulation.

DS has a game this week that I might try to go to. It’s late, so I doubt DH can go as he gets up early, and DD is working, so it might just be me. He is a relief pitcher so he should be able to do just an inning or two without overdoing it. (From my own concussion I remember the neurologist saying the thinking today is that it’s good to gradually keep doing normal things as much as possible.) Speaking of which, DS called them because he didn’t hear back from his neurology referral and guess what? His appt is in September! That’s going to do a lot of good.🙄 He could go elsewhere but I really like this particular neurologist, so we’ll have to give it a little more thought. DS’s boss has been excellent. Really, I’d have to say he’s an ideal boss, which is so good.

I hope everyone has a good Wednesday. (Boy, this week is going by fast already!) I am craving stir fry ever since my patient had one for dinner, so we may try to make one tonight. 🐥

Happy Hump Day!🐪

It's been so nice outside yesterday and again today :sunny:. I think rain is coming back for the weekend.☔

Looks like yesterday was full of good news! Congrats FlyingDumbo127 on going out to the stores 👏. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Kirby glad to hear your son's numbers are improving!:cheer2:

After work yesterday I went out and sprayed the weeds in the landscaping and around the pond. I'll let those die off and then go back and pull them. Played with the dogs for a bit, wanted them to get out in the sun and run around. When they came in they were huffing and puffing, got a big drink of water and laid by the fan.

Watched the Reds game ⚾ (we won) and went to bed. Tonight I'm headed to Evan's soccer game ⚽. On the way there, I'll stop at my friend's house and drop off the baby gift that I bought for her son's new baby. I'll catch Survivor tomorrow.

Have a great day!

Good morning. Another beautiful day coming up. I went out after supper and mowed 90% of the lawn with the rider. Have to get the push mower out for the part I can't do with that , probably after dinner when it cools back down.
Have to do grocery shopping this morning,, and a couple of other errands. Have to get some paint rollers for the painter, and some more painters tape.
I've still never seen anyone paint the way she does. We have 2 walls painted in the dining room, 1 1/2 done in the living room, and then the first coat of trim paint on 2 windows and the entry way going between the kitchen and the dining room. She puts so much paint in a big can, and stops when it's empty and switches to do doing something else as it gets monotonous. I know it will all get done eventually, it just seems like a strange way to paint. I've never seen anyone not paint the ceiling in a room first, and anytime I've painted, that's what I've done, lol. To each their own. She's a very neat painter, and her lines between things are extremely straight and crisp.

@Kirby Some answered prayers for James--was so happy to read that

@Pea-n-Me Glad that your son is recovering, he's going to have to take it slow till he gets back to 100%

@flyingdumbo127 --Glad your shopping excursion was a good one. A little at a time, you'll get used to being out of the apartment again!

Have a nice Hump Day everyone

Good morning everyone!

We went to Sherwin Williams and got all the paint at one time. I don't know why people buy paint there if they aren't contractors.
We buy our paint from Sherwin Williams, we've found the product to be better overall compared to Lowes/Home Depot.
guess who had the best time at 99? Me!
Excellent! Glad to read you had a good day getting out and about.
Just dropping by to tell you some good news. James' numbers are steadily beginning to climb and he may get to leave the hospital on Thursday!
That is really wonderful to read, I'm so happy for him & your family that he is feeling better. I'm not at all versed in stem-cell or bone marrow transplants (he had one of those, right?) so is it safe to assume that there comes a point in the treatment, such as being able to leave the hospital - where the Dr.'s think it's been a successful transplant?
When I came on here I tried to catch up here but inadvertently got wrapped up in some of the controversial threads, lol.
Guilty of that myself.
Have a great day!
You as well!
Another beautiful day coming up
It is looking nice out there-

Well here we are, mid way thru yet another week. I have a mani/pedi appt. this afternoon (I go every 2 weeks) and might take a turn around Home Goods, I need a cake stand or two for the rehearsal dinner. Maybe a platter or two as well. Looks like the menu will be a casual one, pork BBQ and some of the usual sides, assorted desserts. Nothing fancy - what they want, so that is what they are getting!
I have made the executive decision to take off Friday - weather is looking nice - and get a head start on my big porch cleaning chore, maybe even get my weekend mowing chores done early as well. Saturday we are going out for our annual mothers day romp thru several nurseries getting stuff. I always look forward to this day. No set in stone plans Sunday, maybe brunch? Maybe not? eh, we will see what the weekend brings. We have some yard work to finish up as well. No big Mothers Day plans, and that's just fine with me.
We booked a late Jan/early Feb trip to WDW about 2 weeks ago, and I was feeling kinda blah about it truth be told, but the announcement that park reservations won't be needed and Genie might be getting tweaked has lightened my thoughts on it. I like being a bit spontaneous during our days and I hated having to be on my phone at 7 AM every morning just to book a ride.
FINALLY got around to watching some of the coronation yesterday evening while working in the basement, better late than never! Still have to finish watching it.
Dinner this evening will be stewed pork chops with rice & a salad.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone!

The paint we bought for the bathroom was Sherwin Williams, but it came from Lowe's. It was HGTV Sherwin Williams paint. I don't see much difference between that and the actual SW store stuff, guess only time will tell.
Excellent! Glad to read you had a good day getting out and about.

Good Morning 🐣 with a Wednesday bright 🌼for each of you, praying in some way today is indeed one of joy in some way for each of you :)

Thank you dear friends so much for all your congratulations and kind words about yesterday. It definitely meant a lot to me to get out a bit. I also don't miss at all pre Covid time of being out much more. God's grace extra to me these last few years have absolutely been allowing me to become truly healthy of body and spirit and a ton better appreciate each day as the gift from Him it is all the more in health with my dad also healthy, and ability to serve Him.

I keep in prayer going soon to Old Navy and JC Penney. Otherwise, truly I'm fine at home. I would enjoy God willing over the Summer when it's warmer perhaps a neighborhood short walk with dad weekly. Maybe go to one store a month. Cherish, I pray every day.

Dad is currently at Walmart which is only a few minutes away from Costco. Costco doesn't open until 10 which is why going first to Walmart is ideal. I'm grateful that no matter what he will be moving forward in some way hearing aid wise. Thank you all so much for your additional care and prayers for him. We look forward to talking with our Cousin Steve later. Today is his birthday.

Pea, continuing extra 🙏for your son. I'm so sorry he was injured at all of course, but for sure so extensively :( I definitely pray his boss along with the 🏥 as a whole are taking action to ensure better safety for all employees! Built in bookshelves always look so homey on HGTV. Years ago when we lived in our only house, dad had some built in shelving in his room. Enjoy yours. May the rest of your remodel go smoothly.

Footballmouse, :sunny:happy :dogdance:along with cheering for both Evan and the Reds sounds so Summery and relaxing which I pray it was. How is Carly doing?

Lynn, that does sound like a very regimented way of 🖌️I'm glad to hear the painter is doing a good job. May all your morning 🛒🛍️go quickly and smoothly. Remodel finishing up extra cheer to you, too.

Easyas, congratulations and to your son and his wife to be again as their 💒draws closer. When is it again? :cheer2:indeed that you are taking Friday off. You do so much and absolutely need a break. Enjoy!

Snowysmom and Bobbiwoz, 🙏that this finds both of you continuing to enjoy your vacations.

Enjoy the day everyone. I will come back later.

Hi! It’s a cloudy day today in the North Atlantic. This morning we went to the Morning Show on the Disney Dream, and a cooking demonstration of crab cakes.

The chef is John Ashton. He is featured in the Spring 2023 Disney Files Magazine. I found the interview to be very heartwarming. Here’s part of it

Simply beautiful outside, sunny, breezy, 72 degrees. Grocery shopping done, errands done, painting supplies she needed gotten. Just finished up the yard work except for trimming inside and outside of the garden. Almost time to start thinking of planting. Maybe next week. Calling for 80 tomorrow and rain again on Friday. Off to figure out something simple to make for dinner.
Have a nice evening.

Send me please :sunny:Lynn! It is supposed to warm up a little later in the week and early next week. Please do rest this evening indeed!

Dad went out again quickly to Ralphs for 🍞and to Rite Aid because they have Aquafina on sale. Plus, from a few days ago when he first got 2 cases of water thanks to a weekly ad deal, he also earned $5 store credit through that purchase. You can do this twice which is why he's going back today. He will swing by the post office on his way home. Stamp early reminder that rates go up yet again on July 9th. Awful but true.

We did enjoy talking with our Cousins in TX. Always a blessing to do. They will most likely call me on my birthday, too :)

Hearing aid wise, the Costco hearing aid specialist made an adjustment. Dad said he will give them a try for a morning or so at a time as she recommended. He's still not completely comfortable with or pleased by them. He does have an appointment back in 2 weeks unless a need arises sooner. Meantime, he will try to get a cheaper over the counter hearing aid so he can compare. The other benefit of going this way is that Medicare would pay for some of the cost. Costco was completely out of pocket and for us very expensive. Grateful he does have options! Tomorrow he'll do laundry and bigger Ralphs shopping unless he listens to me and gets everything today. God willing we will go to Old Navy right at open on my birthday on Friday. Jeans are on sale 20% off in store and 30% online as an fyi through Saturday.

All is good here. Waiting on mail. Grateful our service has been very regular again, too.

Have a good evening and should I not come back until the morning, sweet dreams, too! :)
