Good morning!
We had stir fry last night and it was ok, not the greatest I’ve had. I had boneless chicken thighs on hand and it’s probably better to use tenders. But lots of good vegetables and we used the stir fry rice that Rice A Roni makes.
Toto has a little infection by his mouth. DD and I just cleaned it out - what a job! He hates his mouth touched, so we had to wrap him in a towel and hang him over the kitchen sink. She held him and I used the sprayer to gently soak it and get the guck out then used surgical soap on it and scrubbed. (Such a good boy, he didn’t try to bite me! He got a piece of Swiss cheese afterward for being so good!) He has a vet appt but we took pics of it before we cleaned it to show the vet. Weird he’s been getting these skin infections. Idk if it’s from the grooming or if he’s allergic to something? Groomer did say she sees it sometimes w dogs who use ceramic bowls, which he has, so I bought him new bowls that are stainless. I’m guessing the vet will give him another antibiotic shot which runs around $150, plus look at it under the microscope (lab fee), and who knows what else. Should be a $300 visit! Like everything else, vet costs have gone up so much.
@footballmouse I was afraid you might say Carly needed ACL surgery. A friend just had it on his dog and that was $6800! Often they say the other leg needs to be done afterward, too. All of this doesn’t bode well for pets - people will eventually just avoid going to the vet‘s. Not sure if I mentioned it cost me $1500 for the two dogs for annual spring visits this year. In years past it was $300 for two large dogs. That included shots and heartworm pills for one dog, and treatment for Toto’s previous infection.
Anyway, I‘ve been shopping for window shades and I finally found some that are what I want. They’re nice - grey with a subtle embossed leave pattern. They won’t clash with the crazy carpet squares, lol. Quite affordable, and on sale too - some of the other shades I’ve seen are $200+ each! They had either a dark grey or a light grey - this is the light grey. I don’t want it to feel dark since it’s a lower level room with just three windows. We are going for the barn feel and it’s coming together and looking good.
Ok what the hey, I’ll show you my crazy carpet squares, you’ve waited long enough! Now remember there are light grey wood walls, light grey trim, these shades, bookcases will also be light grey (same as trim), and sofas are white with some wooden furniture, like tables and such. DS bought a big-a$$ TV, price was the same online as the smaller one so he figured, why not. I just shake my head but I imagine it will be fun to watch movies on that thing. Oh, and lamps are white distressed wood (all of which we’ve had). I purposely kept the window shades “soft“ as there is so much wood. I will find some nice coordinating pillows for the sofas, too, maybe some with a local vibe. He is planning to have a “baseball wall” with his playing memorobilia, awards and pictures (one large one I had made for him for college graduation, since he had no ceremony due to Covid, is him intensely pitching with a quote underneath about hard work, it came out so nice and he loves it; a keeper). He also wants a palm tree

he loves and misses FL, lol. Bathroom will have same wooden walls and I have to pick out some floor tiles, Keeping it simple and probably doing some vinyl floor tiles that coordinate w the carpet squares. Last, we’ll be cleaning out the other room that’s for storage.
Let me know what you think! (Keep in mind the big picture and the feel I’m going for!)
(ETA This is just a picture of the box.)
Have a good Thursday, everyone!
