I got a mailer with the 40% off Deluxe resort PIN code and used it to book our May vacation. I booked it online and based on what was available/price/proximity to monorail, I booked the Contemporary Tower - Bay Lake View.
I know some people book way in advance and then get a PIN code, so they call to apply it to their reservation.
Here's my question:
Say the PIN codes are allocated to be used on the reservations of 100 rooms (just for illustration). Out of 500 people that already have rooms booked, 100 get the PIN code and decide to call in to apply it to their reservation. Would that then mean that the original allocation of 100 rooms is used up?
I guess for some reason I had been thinking that what was available was all that was left after the PIN code came out and people called in to MAKE reservations, not to apply a PIN to their existing ones.
Obviously sometimes availability dictates what people end up booking, i.e. "Well, we wanted Poly but only WL had availability with the discount". But there likely are people who already had Poly reserved who could then go apply the discount. Also, like in my case, if I didn't use the PIN code, there were a few other options of room type at the Contemporary, but a limited offering since I used the PIN. Do people receive the PIN, see that their first choice is not available and then go make a regular (non-PIN) reservation, then call in a few days to apply the PIN to their reservation? Are they then told they cannot apply it to that reservation because that allocation is gone?
