We just returned from a week long stay at Quality Suites Maingate East, (5876 US 192, Kissimmee). Although the price was good, I would not stay there again for the following reasons:
1) General poor condition of the room including lamps that didn't work, shower that leaked, sink that sprayed up and front door that was so tight our children could not open it and the adults had to use our hips to push it open!
2) We were promised daily coffee in the room but had to repeatedly request it by phone, as our notes to the maids were ignored.
3) The sheets to the sofa bed were too small. When they weren't changed after the first 2 nights, we stripped the sofa bed ourselves. When we returned exhausted about 9:30pm that evening we found they had removed the sheets but not replaced them. We called the desk and were told the housekeepers had gone home. After 3 more increasingly insistant calls over the next 2 hours, the sheets finally arrived. Later I found out from the kids that the sheets on their beds were not changed the entire 8 days we were there! (Although the desk clerk assured me they change the sheets daily)
4) The grounds in general were dirty and unkempt, athough the pool area was not bad, just crowded.
5) Access in and out of the hotel was difficult due to design and road constuction.
6) The location is a somewhat seedy area with a carnival atmosphere. The only reason we stayed was that we were so tightly scheduled we would have had to give something up to move.
Just thought I would share my experience because I wish I had had this information when I was doing the trip planning.

I did a search on this property and found really mixed reviews about it. Sorry your stay wasn't better. :(

We too just returned from our week there and I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, luckily for us ours was much different. Our sheets were changed every day, along with that the maid also took time to fold my daughter's extra special blankies and lay them and all her stuffed animals nicely on her bed every morning. We always had coffee in our room and plenty of fresh towels. All of our lights worked and our water pressure was fantastic in the shower - sounds to me like maybe you just got a bad room, my parents had a problem with their air conditioner in their room and when they phoned the front desk they were offered a new room and 50% off their bill at the end of the week. I do agree the road construction was bad but we just went out the way using the traffic light.

Thank you both for posting your reviews of this place. We have reservations in August, and I too have heard mixed opinions. My conclusion is that
no place is perfect for everyone and we all have different needs. I was assured by the manager that this is not a dump of a place so we are going ahead with our plans to stay there. I mentioned some of my concerns and he addressed all of them.I love reading everyones input and their reviews. Hopefully, we will get a room like the previous posting and not like the first posting. Wish us luck!!

Well, now I need help. I have ressies for this hotel next week (25 - 30th). I have read differing reviews on this place recently, and am getting worried. I also have ressies at Homewood Suites (at Epcot) for 19.00 more per night. Any advice which I should choose. I think I am most concerned with the hotel being in a seedy area & the traffic problems. Thanks for any input.

HI! OF ALL THE REVIEWS I HAVE READ ABOUT THIS HOTEL, I'VE NEVER HEARD IT WAS IN A SEEDY AREA. I AM TOLD IT IS NEAR OLD TOWN - HENCE THE CARNIVAL ATMOSPHERE...I CAN'T TELL YOU WHICH PLACE TO GO WITH AS I WON'T BE THERE UNTIL AUGUST. I PLAN ON POSTING AN HONEST AND FAIR REVIEW WHEN I GET BACK! WE MAY LOVE IT OR HATE IT. THIS IS THE CASE WITH MOST PLACES. GOOD LUCK.

Looking back now, I wish we had pushed harder to have our complaints taken care of. I guess I got discouraged by the poor response to our request for sheets. I didn't realize until the last day that they didn't ever change the sheets on the beds (my daugher had noticed a hole and a spot of blood that was in the same spot every day!). Maybe we just had a bad housekeeper! The staff in general seemed harried and unsmiling. We were trying to focus on having a fun vacation and tried not to dwell on the unpleasantness at the hotel. On the other hand we were not made to feel comfortable there and will never go back.

We stayed there last month for 4 nights, it was a good experience. Like the previous comments the maid placed all my sons stuffed animals neatly across the pillows. He thought this was neat as the maid was taking care of them. The room was clean and we had coffee every morning. The maids did seem friendly when we spoke to them. We we were down there it was cool, and they ran out of blankets, so we did not have any for the sofa sleeper. The traffic on 192 was horrible, but we were close enough to WDW that you did not have to go very far in it. It was within walking distance of Old Town and there was a Publix across the street. Our stay was very nice. Sorry to hear it was not pleasant. :)

My family and I stayed there October of 2000 while visiting Orlando. The hotel was horrible
shower was clogged we had a problem with our door and everyday we had to ask for new towls since they figured we could use the same ones more then once. We wrote to Quality Suites and told them about our stay. It is now April and nothing as far as contact. I would tell anyone who has a thought of staying there to find a different hotel.

It is my experience that very few hotels change the sheets while someone is staying in the room. Sheets typically get changed after the old guest checks out. If there are no personal items in the room that is housekeeping's que to change the sheets and clean the bathroom deep down. They just make the beds each day with the same sheets unless they are badly soiled or if you request it. Bed spreads rarely ever get changed so it is important to teach kids not to let there skin touch the bed spreads as they can cause all kinds of itchy stuff on your skin. Towels will be replaced if you place them on the floor but if you hang them up some hotels will assume you want to use the same towel again to "conserve energy."
