Has anyone ever stayed at the Quality Inn International on International Drive. This is the hotel we are staying in when we go to Orlando in March.

We stayed there for 3 weeks during our trip in Sept / Oct last year and have booked to go back again this year.

The rooms a fairly big and clean (just a bit of inside info you will not need to take and iron as there is one provided) also you get a coffee machine but not kettle and in the fridge there was no freezer comparment.

It is an ideal location on I Drive with good restaurants within a 10 minute walk. It is literally 3 minutes to Universal (if you are in one of the high buildings or go to the laundry room you can actually see part of Dr Doom and Hulk) and Disney is about 15 minutes away.

The restaurant is ok and the bar area has a pool table and there is a small supermarket (which is quite expensive compared to Wal or K Mart), but to be honest the only real time we spent in the hotel was when hurricane Jeanne decided to show its face and we could not go out.

The grounds were very nice and well kept and the swimming pools were always busy.

One word of warning if you decide to do your laundry do it first thing in the morning or last thing at night as the machines can get very busy.

One the whole I would recommend this hotel because of its location and the fact that we were up and out first thing and did not get back until last so we really did not spend that much time there.

I hope you have fun in March.

Just wanted to say Welcome to the DIS

Not long until your trip now.

Just to repeat what above poster said - We went in Feb 2002 and go back next month.
The location is superb and the I-trolley(bus) makes it very easy to travel up and down I-drive and it is very cheap.
There is also a ticket booth at the hotel which sells Disney tickets much cheaper than Virgin(or anyone else in UK?)
I reckon we saved £150 on our Disney tickets last time compared with UK prices and hope to do so again this again! It is on the left hand side of main reception as you walk into hotel - you could compare prices with Virgin office onsite before buying.
Just one word of caution - there are 2 Quality Inns on I-drive just in case of confusion if you want a taxi or be dropped off, the one you are staying at is locally known as Low-Q ( Don't ask me why - it was explained to me last time we were there but I have forgotten!)

Hi,

We stayed there on our first trip to Orlando in 2001, its a nice clean hotel. The rooms are fitted with a coffee machine, fridge, microwave which are very convenient. The staff are nice, we had a few meals at the resturant which were ok - but do look out for money off coupons for your meals in the hotel resturant. Children 12 yrs and under eat for free with a paying adult.

My only advice to you is if you don't like the position of your room or the room itself, don't unpack go straight back to the reception and ask to be moved to a different hotel room.

Thanks for the useful info. It is always handy to get this kind od info before you get to the hotel. :D :D :D

We stayed here in October 04 and will definitely do so again.

We stayed one night at ASM during our trip and I can honestly say that I preferred the QII. The room was much bigger, and the fact that there was a coffee machine, iron, fridge etc was excellent. OK, the decor was dated and not as fresh as Disney's but we only wanted it for a base.

We were allocated a non-smoking room, although we had booked 14 months in advance and requested a smoking one. So we went straight back to reception and they gave us a smoking room straight away.

Other DISers had said that the food in the restaurant was "ok" but we thought it was fab. The breakfast buffets were brilliant and the staff were very friendly.

I will repeat that you have to call this hotel "Low Q" - We got married when we were there in October, and the hairdresser had been told we were in the Quality Inn in International Drive. She went to the wrong Quality Inn and was a bit annoyed that she hadnt been told it was the Low Q. So she was very late for our appointment (which had me panicking no end!!!). Anyway, all was well!!

The hotel is in an excellent location, you can easily walk to Wet n Wild and local shops. There is a big Supermarket across the road and we bought 24 bottles of water for $3 and kept them in the fridge to take to the parks.

The shuttle bus for Universal is ok, but the QII is the last pick up, so you may find you have to stand but it really isnt far away. It gets you to the park at about 8:30am, so you really can hit the big rides before anyone else!!

We would go for a swim at about 9pm and the pools were quiet at this time.

The maid service was ok, although she did forget to leave us coffee a lot of the time. No problem though - just go straight to reception and they'll give you loads.

Have a fab trip - Im really jealous! Still trying to twist hubby's arm to book our next one!!!
