I was in QSF&B at Studios Spring 2006 and it wasn't that bad. I was in Outdoor Foods which was the carts that sell stuff like Popcorn, Sodas, Ice Cream etc. I did end up transferring out of QSF&B due to medical reasons (which is the only reason they allowed the transfer on the CP). I am tall and standing in one place all day was causing extreme back pain to the point I had to go to visit the medical center at EPCOT numerous times. They finally offered me a transfer to a position where I could move around which was custodial. Other than that I really enjoyed the position, it was fun getting to talk to customers and selling little treats and snacks was very rewarding. I mean who can be unhappy when they're buying a Mickey Bar? :)

I think just like any role on the CP, it can be what you make of it. It also depends on the people you work with in some cases. I was in attractions, so I can't directly relate, but from those I know in QSF&B I don't know anyone that truely dislike what they did. In my opinion, I just didn't want to deal with food, so I just avoided it in applying.

In QSFB: Can you request a specific role or do they just assign you a role?

Where to work and where to avoid working?

Just got done with my CP doing QSFB.

Like people said, it is what you make of it. Was it fun? Of course not. But I enjoyed working because I made good friends. If I could re do my CP, I probably wouldn't do QSFB again, but its not like it ruined my College Program experience. I still had the time of my life.

I did QSF&B on my program at the Electric Umbrella in EPCOT, and those were the best six months of my life. A lot of people there didn't exactly like the job (I was the oddball - I quite enjoyed most aspects of it), but we were a family there. I think it just depends on your fellow CMs, and how much you interact with them. I know that on those late nights closing ovens, I was extremely glad that I had made friends that would stay back and help me, and likewise. It's really what you make of it. If you're determined to have a good time no matter what, it'll happen. ;)

sdmeador, I'll be honest. The fact that you are asking this question is indicative that you are having reservations about it. Don't say that you will do any job thinking that it will make you look better and that they will think that you are so open that they will then give you your #1 pick. Anything that you say you are open to is fair game regardless of it is your #1 pick or #15 pick.

It is OK to say that you aren't open to a specific job. They even say that they prefer someone to do that on the site (1st bullet under prepare)
https://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com/sap/its/mimes/zh_wdwcp/apply/interview_tips.html

Also note that the 2nd bullet, they say if you have specific work location preferences to state them during the phone interview.

If you make it to the phone interview and indicate you are open to quick-service, then you can indicate your preference then. But keep in mind that this doesn't mean you will get your preference. Only means that they will make note.

My advice with any job on the CP is that if someone doesn't see themselves enjoying a job for 5 to 7 months, not to say during the interview that they are OK with it (saying "I guess, if it is the only thing open" is a "yes").

I did work a bit in Quick Service many years ago down there. I liked it, but others did not. But I can say the same thing with people I knew who worked in all of the positions (some liked attractions, some didn't. some liked merch, some didn't, etc.)

I feel that those who complain about quick service probably didn't read the role responsibilities carefully, convinced themselves when they were applying that they would enjoy it, or said that they were open to it when asked in the interview thinking that if they said "no" they would automatically get rejected for everything.
