Ok, booked our holiday with VH in January. Got QSDP included for free (huge thumbs up). However, we have made a few ADR as we are now 180 days away (mega thumbs up). We have booked Chef Mickey, Sanaa, Teppan Edo, somewhere in DHS, Raglan Road (not familiar with restaurant names so excuse me). We are hoping to do some more maybe.
So we got thinking. How much are we going to spend at each of these? So we enquired at VH to upgrade our DP from QSDP to SDP. 390.41£ more (plus £70 admin for making amendments).
Do you guys think this is worth it?

your answer is here http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm
choose the restaurant, the menu items, and make yourself a quote.

that's roughly $715 to add on top of your booking.

You are trading one CS for one TS. So you end up paying $51 per day for your meals, $25.5pp per day.
Unless you do the cheapest character breakfasts all stay long,il will be worth it from a value standpoint.

But you also need to consider that TS means Tip. You'll need to add 18 to 20% out of pocket for each meal, and the more expensive the items you order, the more you'll pay on tips.

So far you only have 5 restaurants booked. You'll need to find at least 9 more to spend all the TS credits.
That will mean more tips and more time spent at restaurants.

In the end, choose the restaurants you really want to do. Do the maths using the allears menus. And see how much it will cost you (including tips, calculated on the pre-tax total of your check)
If it costs less than the upgrade (much less) then it's not worth it.
If it costs roughly the same amount (give or take $150) then it's worth it, because you get a few meals for free.

But if you find it difficult to choose restaurants and to fit them into your planning, then you're probably better off going OOP with fewer restaurants (your list of 5, maybe a few more)

Brill. I shall work this out tonight.
The admin fee is stupid 35£ per person. Considering how much we've already spent!

Maybe next time look into booking direct, possibly save money and avoid amendment fees. Worth looking into :thumbsup2

I think we shall. We did look but VH were doing 10% off weekend so we went with that. We havent received the best service from their travel agents. As soon as we booked they've given us a crap service. I was actually nervous to ask about upgrading our dining plan when they are providing me woth a service.

They dont normally charge amendment fees if your are spending more money, we have only even been charged fees when reducing the overall amount

Put it on face book about the amendment fee. That is likely to see someone senior contacting you and giving it back :)
