QSDP making me sad

I was sad to see the the Flame Tree BBQ will be under referb when we go... one less GREAT QS place to eat!

TGM says the Flame Tree Barbecue will be closed for refurbishment from Aug 9 - Sep 19, 10. It will reopen on Sep 20, 10.

Oh shoot! I wanted to try Flame Tree BBQ's pulled pork sandwich in August! I loved their ribs and wanted to try something else on the menu. I hope no other favorite of mine will be closed during our trip.

Tarameow: Well, I don,t technically live in Montreal, but on the south shore, but hey, we're still practically neighbours :-)

HAHA Yummy we are in Lachine right across the bridge :rotfl:

Just to let you know they had the pulled pork sandwiches at Typhon Lagoon last year so you may still get one DF said it was good:yay:

Yep , every one of these replies in some way says just how I am feeling too. LOL !!! doing QSDP for the first time. Have always had DDP . Looking forward to snack credits galore at F&W.( Used all of them last trip at DTD at goofys candy co.) No tipping, planning entire trip around reservations, ect ,ect, ect. Think I am going to love quick service. We did make a couple of OOP reservations for crystal palace breakfast. Love that place & getting into the park while the streets are "empty".

I think the key to QS dining either OOP or with the QSDP is to look at the menus before you go. Every themepark, resort, and DTD has good counter service options that are not burgers, pizza, and chicken fingers.

I did the QSDP for the first time last December. Prior to this I would do QS OOP. This trip I would look at the menu's and come up with a couple of "good deals" at each of the parks. For me, a "good deal" most of the time ment something unique. For example, at DHS I ate a Staring Rolls. It had good Turkey and Ham sandwiches but had a huge selection on unique deserts. Also, you had a choice of chips or fresh fruit as a side with your combo meal.

In 5 days on the plan, I only had pizza twice, once was at Wolfgang Puck Express (very good) and the other was Chicken Flat bread at Mara (also good) ; I never had chicken fingers, or hamburger. Instead, I had things like.
Pork chops - Sunshine Seasons - Future World
Quiche - Boulangerie Patisserie-France
Kung Pao Beef - Yak and Yeti - AK
BBQ Pork Sandwich - Avalunch - BB
Meatball Pizza - Wolfgang Puck - DTD
Shrimp Basket - Columbia Harbor House - MK
Black-forest Ham Sand. - Starring Rolls. DHS
Southwest Salad with Chicken - Backlot Express DHS
Grilled Salmon - Pepper Market - Coronodo Springs
Chicken Flatbread - Mara - AKL
I hope you have a good time on your vacation.

We did the QSDP in April (paid for not free) and usually doing DDP I was worried. I loved it. I did investigate places to eat because I didn't want just a burger and there are a lot of places. It was a perfect vacation, no rushing to ADR's, (didn't realize how much it took out of our time) and didn't have to pay for tips on overpriced meals and desserts that if I had to pay OOP, we would not have had all of these desserts.

Try it, you may be surprised how much you enjoy the freedom. Schedule a TS or two and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

We just upgraded our resort to CBR and did the room only code added tickets and the QSDP instead of the free dining.

We are doing the QSDP for the first time this Sept. We are really looking forward to not needing to plan our day around TS but we are thinking we at least need to do one TS. We do Crystal Palace every trip and it was closed the last time we were at Disney so we think we might still do that TS. But we are really lookin forward to all the new CS we will get to try.

We actually originally upgraded to the DDP because I thought we would want more TS meals. But, the more crunched the numbers and thought about how a "typical" day might go, the less the DDP made sense for us. All the ADRs, tips, planning your day around being at the right park at the right time or catching a bus 1 hour before your meal was stressing me out just thinking about it.

We are still having 2 (maybe 3) TS meals OOP. This will be our first time on any meal plan and I am really looking forward to it!

We are using the QSDP for the first time next week - like other posters, I just don't want to be tied down to reservations this time yet I like the convenience of a plan.

Also have a couple of TS meals scheduled, but other than that we are free to roam as we please without the tether of an ADR :cool1: I think my kids will appreciate the looser schedule too:rolleyes1

Yeah not having to be somewhere at a certain time is a plus for me:rotfl:

Did you all still get the park hopper since you dont have to change park for ADR's?

OP- I am feeling the pain of not planning ADR's too:eek: We are doing the QSDP this trip also. We decided after our last DDP trip it was just too much with DS3 he was never hungry when we had an ADR and would be fussy while DH and I were trying to eat. He did request 1 TS and that is CP so he can eat with Tiggy and Pooh and DH requested his favorite 'Ohana. We will be there for 9 days and I really don't want to run around for ADR's this is exciting for me and I have made a list of snacks I want to try. We will have 54 snack credits YIKES!

We always add PH to our tickets. Since we usually head back to the resort mid-day, it's nice to go to a different park for evening activities/meals. Plus, AK closes pretty early most nights, so you can head to another park for fireworks. PH is also a great way to take advantage of EMH.

You make good points about the hopper. I didnt get one this time(first time we decided not too) and just took the water parks

We will have the same 54 snack credits. I probably won't even get the deserts most of the time that comes with the meals. I may get some of the other deserts from the resort as those are better than the pre-packaged ones you get from the qs places in the parks.
Oh what do we do with 53 snacks and all the deserts. LOL

My kids are going to miss the tie dye cheese cake from pop.
