We are also doing the QS for the first time in June. We have used the regular plan for the past 5 trips so I was nervous at first as well. But like many others here, we crunched the numbers and realized that the QSDP really is a better fit for us. We still booked 2 (maybe 3 ) of our favorite TS meals...but we are also looking forward to the freedom and flexibility of not having to be somewhere every day.
One of the only things my kids have fussed about on our previous trips, was every day I was saying 'We have to get out of the pool now because we need to be somewhere for dinner". I love that we are taking *factor* out of our vacation plans.
We are still getting the Park Hopper. It will be brutally hot in Aug so we will have the flexibilty to go to a park in the morning, go back to the resort for the much needed cool down swim and then go to which ever park we want to that night.
For us QSDP + Park Hoppers = Freedom, Flexibility and Relaxation for our trip....
Don't forget the "Gold Standard" of CS meals: The Pepper Market at CSR. They have a FULL steak dinner for a CS credit. I also LOVE their grilled tuna and the pizzas there.
Hey we are staying at POp again. DD was really upset when I told her about CBR so I swithced it back. I even showed her pictures and that was a no also. I thought for sure she would be into the pool at CBR. She told me she wanted to have her flower shower. LOL So she saved us 750.00 so you can't beat that. So she will have her tie dye cheescake.
We are almost there the same dates we arrive 9/24 check out 10/3.
We are actually thinking of changing from the regular dining plan to the quick service plan. DS who is not quite 3 can still be handful when we go out to eat. Last year we really didn't enjoy the TS because we were rushing through to eat before meltdown time. I've been thinking that just doing QS would be easier on our sanity!
If it was still just the two of us we would stay on the regular dining plan as we both enjoyed having a nice sit down meal every night but add in an overstimulated kid and that makes for a whole different kind of eating experience. And if you're thinking we didn't nap the kid last year, we did but I think there was just too much going on to be bothered with sitting down for an extended amount of time.
My only concern is because we are going the first week of September is the heat. I want to make sure we can get out of the heat to rest and get something to eat.
When my DD was little, we did not do the dining plan - too hard to sit at table service meals and manage the whole situation every day. Plus, with a small child it is too hard to have to be somewhere at a specific time. Now that DD is 4 1/2 she likes character meals and we find the characters and childrens buffet make for a good kid situation so that we can actually sit and eat. Since the character meals are very expensive, the dining plan has worked for us.
With a 3 year old, I would skip the regular dining plan. Sitting through a restaurant meal every day is not fun with a small child.
You can definately find good CS places with air conditioning to get out of the heat. My favorites are the Columbia Harbor House (MK) - try upstairs; sunshine seasons at Epcot. The resorts have great food courts - especially POFQ for dinner (never crowded, ribs and chicken for dinner - yum) and a little table with Lego and coloring.
