QSDP cost question, increase or seasonal charge???

Yeah, I agree it couldn't hurt to ask again. If you get that reply three times from three different cast members I don't have any idea what Disney is up to, or why no one else has reported this. I have seen reports of people being quoted about $54/night/adult for the basic dining plan at various times though. The reported seasonal price on that is supposed to be $47.

What are the dates for the seasonal price increase? When it is $39/night, it is only $6 cheaper than the DDP and begins to seem like not a very good savings anymore.

Just last night, my sons 'voted' for the QSDP this year. (we've always done DDP) I think they like the idea of more Snacks, Mugs and less sitting down time. However, the QSDP price is getting so close to the DDP,that it seems a waste. I was thinking there was a bigger difference between the two.

I have no clue. Apparently, it only applies to me and my reservation.

I just got off the phone with Walt Disney Travel Company. And was told yet again that the price for Quick Service Dining Plan for 2011 is $39.99 per adult per night of stay.

I even told the reservationist that the DVC website has the price listed at 34.99 and she said to me "this is not a DVC reservation", I said "no, it is not, but wouldnt the price be the same?" and again she said that the price for the 2011 QSDP is 39.99/adult/night of stay.

I said, every website i look at and every person i speak to says they were only charged 34.99 and again "the price of QSDP for 2011 is 39.99" and she says that the price is not detailed on the reservation so that there is no way they can know what they are being charged...."

SO.......I give up!

Wow, I just don't get it. We'll be there in less than 2 weeks. We are booked at OKW on points and need to pay for QSDP on check-in. I sure hope it's not at the increased rate. We booked way back in August, but I don't know how that effects the price for needing to pay upon arrival.

Did you happen to ask about the child rate?

no, i didnt ask about the child rate. my kids are 2yr and 3 months.

I am thinking that dvc will be 34.99 since that is the price listed on their website but you could always call member services and ask what the current price is.

I also have just sent an email to the main Disney website asking for them to clarify.

I was going to say I could understand the "seasonal increase" for the basic plan but no I really can not. The food cost the same regardless of the time of year, they are already charging more for the room based on the season so I really dont get it.

Did you call again? Any updates? I hope so, in your favor.[/QU

We always do the QS plan. When I was checking on prices for a trip on April 18-24th, I was also quoted the price of $39.99 for each adult on the QS plan. I questioned this and was told the price went up for 2011. Nothing about "seasonal" just that for the whole 2011 that's what the price was.:confused3

I called today to ask how much I paid pp for QSDP in March.

$39.99 adult
$16.99 child

I so want to call and cancel it! Torn...can't figure out how to spend $40 PP Per day on CS meals!

I also added the QSDP to our upcoming Pop ressie - two nights on an AP rate and one on rack rate - the nights on AP rate were $39.99, and the night on rack rate came out to $43.99????? I'm going to inquire at check in since my invoices don't detail the charges. I'm guessing the regular dining plan now costs more as well, plus I'm going to be getting 4 mugs out of our stay, keeping two as gifts, so I'm not too upset. At $40 a day for QSDP, not including the mugs, I've figured out I'm saving about $10-15, so that's fine with me. The mugs are pretty much a $60 bonus, and we've never used the dining plan before, so I plan on making the most of the snacks and desserts with my DD, and finding the most expensive CS meals (Wolfgang Puck Express is my favourite!). Just wish they had broken down the prices better for me in my confirmation email, because I too thought it was only $34.99 when I booked. Oh well, in 1 more sleep I'll be picking up our new mugs!:goodvibes

Good questions, I'm sure someone on here can answer you! I would think that you would end up with 10 mugs, I hope your thirsty!!

Yes you will, I have done split a couple of times with qsdp and got 8 mugs each year....:thumbsup2, if you dont want them give them to someone else on your second time around.....spread the magic!!!!

OK.... its me again....

I got a response to my email regarding my amount charged for my QSDP. The "snippy" disney rep told me that I was being charged $32.99 (Annual Pass Discount with an AP room and dining plan package) and that I was "NOT" being charged 39.99.

When I tried to explain that I had called twice and both times was told that I was being charged 39.99 she proceeded to inform me that "nobody" told me I was being charged 39.99 that i was told it was "less than 39.99/person/day"

At this point I just said ... OK.... but I wonder.... was she on the phone listening when i called because I know what I was told and it was not "less than" anything it was "the price is"

What I dont understand is why does Disney have to be so secretative about what they are charging? Its the same as room rates. It varies with season, location and accomodation reserved so just advertise the dining plan in the same way..... if the dining plan (without AP discount) is 34.99 to 39.99 depending on the time of travel then advertise it as such.

I feel like I was being scolded for asking for clarification of my bill.

Call and ask to speak to a manager. Ask them about it and then inform then about your snippy CM.........:rolleyes1

A possible consideration is that being package changes/additions inside of the 45 day mark, if part of this extra price may be some form of package change fee that isn't being waived?

I was never told that I was being charged a package change fee.... seems silly to charge a fee if you are increasing your package anyway.

The original AP room only reservation was made outside of the 45 day mark. When I got some additional funds and read on here that you could add dining to an AP room only reservation, I called back to add the quick service dining. At this point he told me that if I made any modifications to the reservation it would be considered a cancel and I would be subject to penalties.

I'm just really tired of the whole thing now.

I leave in a week and just want to go on my vacation. I will have a place to sleep, food to eat and some quality time with my family.

I think this will end Disney Dinning for me though. I like the idea of prepaid which is essentially all you are gaining when you book the dining plan- the savings is minute. So from now own I am going to take the advice of someone who once posted on here and told me to purchase either Disney gift cards or Visa gift cards. Purchase a few at a time along the way. Set them aside and use them for Disney food. That in addition to my Tables in Wonderland card and AP discounts and I think I will come out even.

Again... DISNEY IF YOU ARE SNOOPING.....
TRUTH IN ADVERTISING..... Just be upfront with your customers.
