Since we discovered that we can get both the drink and dessert that we like on the quick service meal, and we have way more meals than snack credits...Is there any way to use a quick service meal credit and not get an entree and just get the drink and dessert? I mean i know i can just pick a random entree, but I dont really want to waste the food.

Why not just get the drink and dessert you want and pay OOP? If you don't get the entree, you're "paying" about $15 for that drink and dessert with the QSDP (each meal credit is "worth" about $15). Your OOP cost for the same would be a little over $6.

Are you paying for the plan or getting it free? The entree is the bulk of the value of the credit. If you're going to do this a lot, you may want to consider just not getting the quick service dining plan if you are buying it.

On the other hand, it would be better than not using the credits at all.

At many resort CS you can trade in a CS credit for up to three snacks, why not just do that.

We got the dining plan for free. We had some special meals arranged that weren't under the plan, so now we are ahead on meal credits. Like 8 credits left for 2 days (and we dont normally do breakfast).

Well ive learned from this trip that, the meal plan, is a great value if you get it for free, but for our eating style, not the best if its being paid for.

Have you looked into upgrading your free QSDP to the regular DDP which includes 1TS, 1 QS, and a snack? The cost to upgrade is minimal and might be more to your liking. Depending on what your "special meals" are, it may be cheaper to upgrade than pay OOP for those meals. Just a thought...

You don't say what special meals you had planned or how many, but it might have been to your advantage to have paid to upgrade from the QSDP to DDP so that you would have had 1 CS, 1 TS 1snack each day as the cost of paying OOP for most TS meals especially character meals can be quite pricey.

Something to think about next time if you book during FD since you are paying Rack Rate for the room to get the FD it seems a real shame to waste meal only to pay OOP for some TS.

Not sure where you are staying and it does seem to vary from one resort to the next, but we had too much of everything left over last trip and asked if we could use a few CS credits for a snack and dessert. We asked at the foodcourt and they told us that, at the foodcourt only (that is, not in the gift shop or anywhere else) we could choose any three sides for a CS credit. One of these had to be a drink and all had to be eligible as a snack credit but we did this a few times in our last few days and were served by various cashiers and none of them blinked an eye when I asked them to ring up the three snacks as a CS meal so it may be worth looking into that.

Within the theme parks, it might depend on the location and cast member you get. My family was at the Kringla once and we wanted to order the entree and dessert and skip the drink (we were heading for the airport and you can't take drinks through security). The CM was insistent that we had to have all parts of allotment in order to use the QS credit. So ended up having to take the bottles of water even though we didn't need/want them. That's the only place where we ran into anything like that. Otherwise, the CMs seem willing to let you omit parts of the QS allotment if you want.

This is exactly what we did on our recent trip because we knew that we wanted to eat at a few of the nicer TS restaurants. It worked out well and the money we paid to 'upgrade' still ended up being far less than we would have paid for the entire meals out of pocket.

This trip, the extra meals that werent on the dining were paid for by someone else (go parents!), but in the future, looking at our eating habits, upgrading the free dining plan to the 1 TS 1 QS may be a better choice.

So far no luck on getting 2 snacks and a drink for a QS credit, but I keep asking!

I'm new to CS, what are some examples of snacks the foodcourt let you have for a CS credit?
OP-I agree with the previous posts with upgrading to the regular dining plan if you have several TS reservations booked.

We used our on juices, chips, a cupcake, fruit and a bunch of brownies. They were all typical items which you could use a snack credit for, which was the condition. For what it’s worth, although we did go and ask at the front desk before attempting any ‘trades’ of our credits, there was no action taken in allowing us to do so and I was left with the impression that the staff at this particular food court were familiar with the practice as there was not a single question when I told them how we wanted the items rung up. What you do need to keep in mind however is that with Disney, especially with dining plan entitlements, you have to ask wherever you go as the policies are not always consistent and not only change from place to place, but even from one CM to the next in the same place. My approach is, if it is not written on the DDP brochure or marked clearly in the store/foodcourt/restaurant, I ask, unless it is something I was getting anyway and don’t mind just paying OOP for.
