QS Plan snack credit and a sharing question

I have 2 different questions/issues and didn't want to start 2 threads.

I saw on the brochure on here that the QS plan now only has 1 snack credit included but when I was on Disney's website pricing our April trip tonight it is still saying the QS plan includes 2 snack credits. Does anyone know which is correct?

Right now I am trying to decide which plan (if any to get) for our trip. DH & I usually bring my mother along but she hasn't decided if she is going to stay on property or off. In the past, she has stayed on property and been on the meal plan like we have but she and I always share a meal and just use the extra credits to share a breakfast or something like that. I know it is against policy to buy meals for people not on the plan and I am not trying to "cheat" the system but not sure if this is acceptable. BTW-we all have AP's if that makes a difference.

If she stays off property but we still tour & dine together, can she & I still share our meals? There is no way I can eat a full meal as the past 3 years we have always shared even our CS meals. This year I have contemplated getting the QS service plan for breakfast & lunch then adding the TIW card for dinner or doing the DxDP and not buying the TIW card. Could she & I still share meals if we did that as long as we are not buying her a meal (as in 3 meals with a 2 adult plan? If she wanted her own she would just pay OOP.

We are just trying to figure out the best way to save money since we typically share our meals but eat quite a few CS meals (mostly at WGPE) and also like eat at least 1 TS per day.

Thanks!

It is only one snack per person, per night, for 2012.

As for the sharing question, I'm not touching that one with a 10-foot pole.

It is the policy of the DIS Restaurant board to follow Disney's rules on the dining plan, and they have printed on the brochure that you can't use your credits to provide meals for someone who isn't on the plan. We interpreted that to include feeding someone by sharing the meals you bought on the plan with someone else who is not on your resort reservation or dining plan, and isn't buying anything themselves.

So we can't really address that sharing question here; all I can say is that Disney says you can't use your credits to provide meals for your mother if she isn't staying with you.

Okay thank you. I just wanted to make sure we didn't do something that was against policy since we always shared with the plan. I will just tell her she needs to stay on property & get the plan so we can share or to just buy her own meals.

If it is just you and your husband...add your mom to the room reservation so she can get the dining plan with you! She wouldn't have to physically sleep there. Disney allows 4 people per room.

This may work out cheaper than her buying some meals OOP. And if you go during free dining, it's even better!

You can share TiW savings with her. And in most cases, the TiW card will save you significantly more than any dining plan would.

Sorry to hijack but just noticed this - does this apply to Quick Service Dining Plan or just Dining Plan?

We had QSDP last year and had 2 snacks per person per night, has this now changed? If so :sad1:

Sorry, the Plans have changed for 2012:

QSDP is now 2 counter service and 1 snack per person per night. Also one mug per person. So yes, you lose a snack.

the regular dining plan always was 1 snack (plus one counter service and one table service per person per night.) They added the mug per person to the regular dining plan this year.

Deluxe is the same (3 meals, 2 snacks per person per night plus the mug.)

The 2012 QS plan has changed for the United States to 1 snack per night, but since you're in Scotland you should check into the UK plan. I have read that the UK plan for 2012 still includes 2 snacks.

Thanks for the replies - I checked our booking information and it's still quoting 2 snacks for 2012 on the UK plan so fingers crossed. Not a big deal either way, I would just have to pay for my jumbo pretzels and funnel cakes :rotfl:

Earlier reports were that the UK QSDP is still 2 snacks per day. Not sure how/why Disney is doing it that way, but they are and that means more snacks for you!!

Yep, we've had confirmation that the UK residents are still getting two snacks per night on the QSDP.
