QS meal vs QS snacks

I have the QS dining plan and my question is how do I know when they scan my MB whether it's been charged as a meal or a snack.....

Tell them when you check out which you want to use. You will get a receipt that will say at the bottom how many QS or snacks you have left.

A meal includes entree, drink, and dessert. They will never use a snack credit for all of that.

A snack is just one item, so it would not register as a meal. If you're getting multiple snacks, just tell the cashier you want to use your snack credits.
