QS for a Vegetarian

I wonder if all the counter service restaurants have a vegetarian selection other than the pizza (pretty bad to me). My daughter is vegetarian and I am hoping to make up a list for her so she will know what her options are. She is an older teen and we usually all split up for a while during the day and I hate to think that she wont have choices.

Thanks.

I see no one has answered you yet. While I don't have any experience with this I can tell you that if you post this in the disabilities forum you will get more advice.

Sounds strange, but the disabilities section doesn't just deal with that, they deal with food issues of any form. (and when I say issue I don't mean that negative, I mean different from just walking in and getting what is on the menu). :)

I know there is a number to call to get a special menu for CS places. sorry I don't have it. But I am sure someone over there will post it for you.

HOpe you get it all worked out ahead of time so your daughter can eat happily!!

I hear that Main Street Bakery has a really tasty vegetarian soup and that the hummus sandwich at Columbia Harbour House is to die for. There are also a variety of places that sell veggie burgers though I can't comment on their quality as I haven't paid any attetion to the reviews of them.

Basically, you have to go through the menus at the CS locations around the parks and look for what options are available (though the soup I'm not sure is on the MSB menu but I've seen it mentioned as being gluten free on the disabilities forum, assuming it's still there).

Since you're posting your question on the DDP board, I'm going to assume you're using a dining plan. Some CS locations have the option of uncrustable pb&j kids meals but that really is a terrible use of a DDP credit. At resorts I think you can buy these using snack credits but I'm not sure that's an option at parks.

She can get side salads and fruit using a CS credit at many CS locations. Fruit is also available at snack carts.

We really don't get a lot of discussions about vegetarian or vegan dining on the disability forum unless the person also has some kind of medically necessary dietary resrtiction such as a food allergy or diabetes. I think there are some vegetarian and vegan threads on the main restaurant board so browsing through those might give you some ideas.

Pecos Bill has vegetarian tacos!! I'm a veg to and I love them - and the sandwich at CHH is really good too. :woohoo:

MK - Columbia Harbour House has a very good veggie sandwich.

Cosmic Ray's - I think they have a veggie burger.

Epcot - Sunshine Season's - has several veggie options

Morocco CS has veggie option

DHS - Backlot Express - has a veggie sandwich option

AK - Check out Yak and Yeti, I think they have veggie option.

DTD - Wolfgang Puck Express has veggie options.

You can see the menus on allears.net

I'm a lacto/ovo vegetarian and almost all the CS places have a vegetarian option, some are more of a substantial meal than others. Like at Flame Tree BBQ you can get a fruit plate or salad (w/o chicken) - both are not very filling or a meal in my opinion.

Yak & Yeti CS doesn't have a vegie option. AK sucks for vegetarians in my opion. I never trust China even though they say vegetarian stir fry because they are'nt ever clear on the stock they use.

My favorites: Norwary & France have a great veggie quiche/torte things.
Mexico has cheese empanadas, pretty good but a little greasy

Tortuga Tavern has a veggie burrito, black beans and tons of toppings from the bar.
Columbia's hummus sandwich
Main St. has a tomato and moz. cheese sandwich
Pinochios has pasta with marinara but it gave me heartburn

Backlot's sandwich is good.
ABC commissary has a ginger salad that I liked

Pop Century foodcourt has lots of veggie options, I'm not sure about others beside Riversides Pasta & Salads your way.

She should be able to find something besides pizza, but maybe not always at the place everyone else wants to eat.
