My cousin and his wife have a 17 month old that they are bringing with them on our March cruise. They have a few questions that I don't know the answers.
1) Does a child that young have they same luggage allowance when boarding the ship as the adults? (2 each)
2) Will they be able to get milk anytime they need it or should they bring a gallon of milk?
3) Do they need to bring there own stoller?

Thanks

1) Does a child that young have they same luggage allowance when boarding the ship as the adults? (2 each)
Yes, you'll receive two luggage tags for the toddler as well, we did when we sailed in November 2002.
2) Will they be able to get milk anytime they need it or should they bring a gallon of milk?
Yes, there is milk available at all times for free through room service. I can't remember if milk is available up on Deck 9 though.
Also, if I'm wrong, the "fridge" in the room wouldn't be sufficient in keeping milk cold, since it's only a beverage cooler not a true refrigerator. If they bring their own milk, it would have to be kept on ice, and could prove to be a disaster for a long trip (ie spoiling). I'd rely on room service for milk.
3) Do they need to bring there own stoller?
I did and would advise them to. The ship is a large place, especially for a toddler and I know my toddler is more comfortable in his own stroller than a strange one. Also, if flying in the stroller will be invaluable in the airport, as well as waiting to board.

Not quite sure about the answer for #1...

2) Milk - No need to bring your own. They can get milk any time they need it - during the day it's readily available and at night, room service can bring it. The first night they brought a cold pint which DS didn't adapt to  , but the next night and thereafter, we asked for, and they promptly brought, a slightly warmed cup of 8 oz :)

3)There are strollers available on board. We brought our own, but the ones available looked in fairly good condition.

Have fun!

Milk is available on deck 9 and thru room service. You can also specify whole milk, 2%, or skim...they have all of them.

The refrigerator in our cabin was a small "dorm type" refrigerator. It kept milk just fine.

I'd bring an umbrella stroller....

Hi,

We travelled with our son when he was 19 months old - he had a blast. Milk wasn't a problem, and bags were as stated above.

We really appreciated having our stroller, especially with the embarkation, dsembarkation, and the days we had to clear immigration (twice) at 6:30 AM (kids stayed mostly asleep in the stroller).

The babysitting, FYI, was excellent, but was at an hourly basis.

Have fun.

Richard

If htey are traveling any great distance to/from the ship, I would recommend bringing along some "milk boxes", UHT milk in juice box type containers-no refrigeration needed (until open), ready to drink. Hershey's & Parmalat (maybe others) make this. Also the room "frig" (cooler) is not a frig as mentioned above, but I kept milk/formula cold by asking the room steward to keep me in bags (double wrapped) of ice that I put in the cooler. Took some space but didn't need to kep much in there b/c of availability.
Strollers: bring one. They also have some on Castaway Cay with big wheels (Graco all terrain models last time) . Grab an extra towel at the towel stop when you get off the ship to use in/on the stroller since they are kept out in the elements & may be wet when you get one. Very easy to carry all your stuff around in the stroller.

luggage:
So they will get 2 luggage tags for the child? Can they also have a carry on bag for the child?
stroller:
Are there plenty of strollers to go around or do we need to rush so they are sure to get one? Are you allowed to take the stoller off the ship when visiting at the ports? At CC are there plenty or do we need to rush again?

The mother is asking lots of questions that I have no idea about because our kids are all older. Thanks everyone for helping me out.:D

We traveled with 2 toddler grands. Had no problems getting 2 strollers from GS on second day. They were $100 refundable deposit each. We had brought umbrella strollers for airport, but Dis Graco's were much larger for napping, with big visors, baggage and bottle holders. They are allowed off at all ports.

They also furnish (by request) a play pen type crib, that is folded up during the day if want. They furnish sheets and blankies, but we brought our own. I have heard some say they furnish diaper genies also. Have a good time!

We sailed in November with my daughter who was 21 months old. We brought our own stroller - which was invaluable for walking around the ship, waiting to board, Castaway Cay, and not to mention just lugging around all those toddler things - and some of Mommy's things, too!
We also brought those Parmalat milk boxes for convenience.
As far as bedding, we requested a pack-n-play, but the couch folds down into a junior-size bed which was perfect - and Noel, our stateroom host, set it up every night with bed rails, too!
Enjoy!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :Pinkbounc

I would second the umbrella stroller-especially if you are doing excursions. On both of our excursions there was a couple that brought a deluxe stroller. On one excursion-every single person that got on and off the bus had to step over their stoller and I don't think it even got used!
On the other (open air bus things) the stroller had to ride up front with the driver taking up most of his seat!

:D

Never used the strollers from Guest services, Brought my own umbrella stroller for on & off the ship (except Castaway Cay). The small stroller is not a storage problem & I guess I have the "deluxe "model, it reclines a little bit & has a sun shade. As for the Graco strollers on CC, they are located after you get off the tram and walk up a slight incline a bit. They are all on the left (If I remember right, the beach wheelchairs are located at the same place). I originally heard you had to rush to get one, but never expereinced that myself. Many people bring their regular one off the ship, which I didn't want to do (too much sand, salt water etc), or maybe they didn't know there were there.

Make sure you bring plenty of diapers! We ran out on the night before the end of the cruise & had to buy some at the store on the ship. They were very expensive - something like 10 for $10!!
