Hello

I'm half way through my weight loss journey - 11lbs lost, 9lbs to go. I started Slimming World mainly with my trip in mind (2 weeks today til we fly to WDW) so that I can indulge! However now I don't really want to sabotage the weight I've lost too much.

What strategies do you employ when visiting Florida, apart from the obvious of avoiding the bakeries and Dole Whips (willpower permitting :rotfl2:)? We're on DDP and I know I can get fruit salads and will be able to make reasonable choices. There will be lots of walking, so maybe I'll be OK???

Just carry on doing what you already do but throw in a few treats, after all you are on holiday!!
Drink plenty of water instead of fizzy drinks as well, I found that helped also I ate more salads last time we went. All the walking helped too, i actually came home and found I was 7lbs lighter!!
First time ever, usually I dont watch what I eat in florida and put on around 4lbs so by just still enjoying myself but making better food choices that worked for me!

Usually I dont really bother however on my last holiday to WDW I tried a bit.
we ate at a lot of buffets, I made sure I had plenty of fruit and veggies.
I also chose the meats rather than carbs.
I still had teats ,after all -the amount of walking you do, balances everything out.
When you get home you will gain a lot-but this is usually fluid retention from the flight. I weighed myself a couple of days later and I had lost this gain. :goodvibes

I'd be OK with a 4 or 5lb gain, a 7lb loss would be amazing :rotfl:

My WI is the evening of the day we fly home. May miss it then, or I could take it on the chin and have an amazing loss the week after ;)

Thanks for your replies :goodvibes Am soooo excited!

I weighed myself the day after we landed, as I 'felt' lighter!!
have an amazing holiday!!

I've done the Slimming World whilst on vacation with probably too many syns on alcohol but for the main part was able to the Extra Easy plan no problem because they just go that extra mile to ensure that you have what you want... dresssings on the side... low carb options... lots of salad...or meat cooked with no butter... at buffets I've asked for poached eggs before now ... love egg white omlettes. I don't have to do dessert except the odd bite (unless I'm at Ghiradellis and B&C) and I'm not big into french fries, I'm more of a baked potato chick!

I think sticking to Slimming World whilst on holiday can be done very easily in Florida because you don't have to worry about the portion sizes on the foods that are in your plan.

Oh and if you're on a green day and you hit Sweet Tomatoes .... insanely good.

Just allow yourself the extra syns.... or if you are on pro-points with WW then even better, stick a pedometer on and earn some extra points!

I now do Calorie Counting on My Fitness pal and last November I found myself in the Gym at The Yacht and Beach Club for the first time ever on holiday and it felt really good! Don't get me wrong I still put on a few pounds but I can't help but think how much I could have put on if I had not done that extra exercise!

Thanks, I'm doing extra easy at slimming world, so this is good to hear.

Eat lots of super free foods and enjoy buying small size clothes
And even if you feel you have gained weight get right back to class when you get back home
Enjoy r holiday
And congratulations on the weight lose so far

I have never gained weight on a Disney trip. In fact on both my WDW trips I've lost weight.

I think the heat + the walking and swimming just means I can't eat loads and even though I am eating naughty things they don't seem to do any damage.

So you might find you're OK. I do drink a lot when I'm there, so I jsut make sure to stick to low calorie drinks and water.

I have a stone left to lose before October. I am planning to eat and drink my way around the World and worry about it when I get home. ;) Those DDP credits won't eat themselves.

I've recently started slimming world and was discussing this issue with my husband tonight.
We're also on the dining plan, I've been looking at the menus from here and hopefully I'll be able to make healthy choices while wer're there (along with some holiday treats!). I'm hoping that between that and plenty of walking and some swimming it should be do-able!

Looks like we are going to WDW at the same time.:goodvibes

That is so weird that I wanted to tell you that my OH is doing SW and will just be leaving the diet at home while on holiday after all its only two weeks. I am going the week after you and am either going to be in the Little Mermaid rooms or POR. Might see you there.

I'm hoping all the walking will cancel out all the extra syns I'll probably end u consuming! AoA looks really cute, unfortunatly when we booked it wasn't an option. We booked with Thomas Cook and didn't realise they don't offer the full range of Disney hotels (my last/only visit was 11 years ago so I'm a bit rusty!)...but the pictures of POR look nice so I'm sure it'll be alovely place to stay!

29th Oct - 12th Nov, staying at OKW:goodvibes
I'm a bit jealous you're staying at OKW! It looks amazing!
