Astonishingly, I seem to have thought of an question about the Quick and Casual Dining vouhcers, which has not already been addressed! (At least not that I could find.) The Q&C Vouchers sound like a great deal, and I'm thinking of buying some. *But*, DH and I are both diabetics, and we really shouldn't be eating surgery desserts. We won't have anyone else with us on our trip, and I'm worried we'll have a hard time resisting the desserts if they are already paid for! Do you think the restaurants might be willing to substitute a salad or an extra side dish or some other inexpensive item for the dessert? Has anyone tried this?

I do not know but would like to :D however, I do know someplaces have sugar free desserts so perhaps that would be an option if they do not sub.?

Cosmic Rays have sugar free desserts!
Its a brownie and I have had one...

That is a good question regarding the deserts... I 'm not sure how to answer it.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but is fruit allowed for diabetics? I substituted fruit many times...

I know dollar or dollar it isn't the same but we exchanged the dessert for fresh fruit with no problem. My hubby is a type 1 diabetic and this was a much better health choice for him.

Thanks for the responses. There is actually a lot of debate right now as to how much "natural" sugars diabetics can safely have. Some doctors seem to think that fruit is OK, but mine want me to limit all carbs. And, when I track my blood sugar using a glucose meter, even natural carbs like fruit and whole grains seem to send my blood sugar levels soaring. So, if I had any fruit, I'd have to eliminate some other carb from the meal. That's why something like a green salad or soup would be the best substitute for a dessert.

I suppose I can always ask, and if they say no, I can pay cash if the meal with no dessert would be cheaper than the price of the voucher. Then I can give the vouchers to my sister when she goes to Disneyworld in the spring. (She definitely eats dessert! :D)
