They have been talking about on the news like the Today Show & Weather Channel about catching Pythons & I was wondering if anyone has seen or heard of any in Disney World?

Times I have went I have seen rabbits, ducks, a snake, a cat but I have yet to see any alligators/crocs.

:scared1: There isn't much that could keep me away from Disney, but wondering on a python would do it.

My family is staying at the Poly right now and a cm there told them to look out for two baby alligators, and otter, and a 5 foot snake wrapped around a tree!

A few years ago, as we were walking across the bridge to go to the pool at the Coronado, we saw an alligator in the lake. It was small and right by the shore. I didn't think it was real at first because it didn't move for a while but then it swam off.

This is being done in South Florida, most specifically around the Everglades. There is NO python problem in Central Florida.
Gators are a fact of life here in Florida. But, the only ones you may see on Disney property are small, as they move them once they reach more than 4' in size, and very, VERY rarely do you see them out of the water.

There is an alligator that hangs around the BCV in the canal there (which also connects to Epcot, BC and YC). We have also seen one in the water around Tom Sawyer Island, by the bridge that crosses over to Big Thunder Mt and Splash Mt.

As a Floridian I can tell you a little. Crocs live in south Florida. Pythons also South Florida. Alligators everywhere. Moccasins everywhere. They usually don't bother people unless you mess with them or suprise them. Don't worry about them.

We really dont go anywhere at WDW that we would see them..I see gators in lakes around our neighborhood so I am sure they are all over WDW...we have seen rabbits and deer at WDW while riding the monorail or the buses...I am sure there are pythons in Orlando but that is why WDW doesnt want people wandering around areas they are not supposed to be and do not allow people to swim in the lakes and such

We have a current resident at the CSR, Glen:

The problem is actually in the Everglades, not in Central Florida where Orlando is.

No worries. Just stay aware of what's around you and stay out of the lakes.

When we were there in June, we looked all over for snakes and alligators at WL. Didn't see any much to DS13's disappointment.

Actually, there was a story on CNN 2 nights ago about the Python problem in FL.

FL is a very large state, and the python problem is in and around the Everglades, which are about 4 hours south of WDW. There aren't any roaming loose anywhere near WDW, so no reason to worry. :)

I'm a bit intrigued by the otter sighting. Are otters common in FL?
They are "fairly" common at Walt Disney World.I think they are probably seen most in Bay Lake. They create a lot of attention from Guests when spotted.:)

Thank you....I'm seriously quite snake-phobic, so I appreciate that. Although, I'll never EVER step foot in the Everglades. :rolleyes1

I didnt mean to scare people. Sorry to the ones I did scare but I just wanted to ask about it since it was on the news recently.
