Python Attacks, Swallows Woman

RANGAMATI, Bangladesh (Reuters) - A python killed and half-swallowed a woman in southeastern Bangladesh, police said Friday.
Basanti Tripura, 38, was collecting fruit with a friend in a forest when she was attacked Tuesday, a police official said. She was swallowed up to her waist.
The python, believed to have been more than 10 feet long, was killed and the body retrieved, the official said.

In terms of a python, 10 feet is relatively small (depending on the type of python)

The snake would have had to be aout 20 feet or more. There is no way a 10-15 foot python is going to be able to open his mouth big enough to get around the shoulders of an adult person. Snakes usually start swallowing prey head first. Even with the ability snakes to unhinge their jaws it's impossible for a python of 10 feet or so to swallow an adult(even half way).

I used to have a 13 foot python and fed it rabbits. The head of the snake was about the size of my fist. The python must have been REALLY large, a LOT more than 10 feet). Maybe the story is bogus or exaggerated.

I have a boa that's almost 7 feet. There is no way it would be capable of doing anything remotely like that. That python had to be huge.
