PVB Tower Charts, Sales Date and more!!!

Looking at Touring Plans, I don’t see how you could have Theme Park view on the first floor. I was there in May, we took the boat from the dock by the tower, I was thinking a lot of the lower floor views would be blocked by VGF. It will be interesting to see pictures.

I just saw a picture on social media showing the tattoo style artwork has started on part of the front (top right when viewing from the monorail) of the building.

Hopefully this is a sign it they plan to do this on all the large plain colored areas around the building.

Seems they are adjusting colors…erased the tattoo work they had done on the right side and now doing the left side.

Very interesting room info from our friends at Touring Plans - https://touringplans.com/hotel_maps/disneys-polynesian-villas-bungalows?date=2024-11-08

Click on Island Tower. :magnify:
I wonder how they got all this info. Because the necessary information is not posted in the docs on occompt, much to the chagrin of a lot of us. Occompt specifically doesn't have floorplans outside of initial declarations (so it's missing most floors), nor does it have any room numbers.

In their blog post about it (https://touringplans.com/blog/island-tower-disney-polynesian-room-maps-2024/), they do cite "in-person DVC presentations" as well.

Overall, very impressive sleuthing.

I agree there may be some errors on the Touring Plans site, but this is what I have it showing currently (percents are the percent of that view for that type of room):

I’m surprised and impressed that it seems like preferred is the limited category instead of standard. This mix seems healthy, if it holds true.

Makes more sense to me than the ground floor TPVs predicted a few pages back!

I'm in agreement with that statement. If the layout is accurate from Touring Plans, then I would be highly upset if I booked a 1BR TPV and was on a corner 1st floor., actually any 1st floor. No way you can see MK from these vantage points.

We have one booked for 4 nights beginning Dec 19th. I told my husband I hope it isn't on the first floor. If we get in there and it is and the view isn't good I may have to complain a little.

I always use the Touring Plans website to make my resort requests. I like it because you can give them specific room numbers to work from that will explicitly show that you prefer a higher floor. Always worth a shot!

I assume Dec will be sold out and they may not have much wiggle room, but ss soon as you get the PVB GM's welcome email, hit that button and provide the feedback. I've gotten immediate, within 2 hours, response each time I've shared my displeasure at a DVC resort. It's impressive how accommodating Disney can be to help make your stay more enjoyable.

Question for prospective Theme Park View bookers, what do you actually want from your "Theme Park View" at Island Tower?
  1. A view of the castle at Magic Kingdom
  2. A view of more of Magic Kingdom than just the castle
  3. A view of Magic Kingdom fireworks
  4. A view of the lake
  5. A view of not-the-parking-lot-or-resort-grounds
  6. Please describe
For me, it's 3-5 with a little bit of (1). I'm under no illusions of how far the castle is from Island Tower and how little there is to see of Magic Kingdom.

With my priorities, the 1st floor rooms seem like fair game for TPV (though I would dislike being on the 1st floor of any resort). We've done a NYEE fireworks cruise that parked in front of what is now Island Tower, and it was a great experience and viewpoint, all while being even lower than the 1st floor.

But the endcap rooms facing Grand Flo do not seem like they deserve TPV status, and I would be very disappointed if I were assigned one of those.

4. A view of the lake

I just think the view of magic kingdom is so far away that it doesn’t really matter. It’s a lake view/fireworks view more than anything.

I'd say 5, 4 and 3. Unless it's a MNSSHP night, we wouldn't be in the room for fireworks anyway. We'd be having dinner somewhere. So maybe just 5 and 4.

The end rooms, TPV, is what I would have the most angst about.

We put in a request for a high floor with member services. When we booked the room all they had available for our dates was a studio standard. We wanted the 1 bedroom tpv. We are a family of 5 (our youngest will be 3 in Feb) and know from experience that studios don't work well for us. Our cast members refreshed and the 1 bedroom theme view appeared! We already has an original lake studio poly booked so we would have kept it and not changed to the studio standard. I'm assuming that they may not have a lot of wiggle room with the tpv 1 bedrooms based on the declared rooms if the pictures from a few days ago are accurate. Hopefully the view from the first floor is better than what I'm thinking it will be.

The specific rooms declared don’t play a role in which one you can be put in for your stay.

All 1 bedroom TPV will be options for a stay. They simply can’t allow points booking for more than declared units.

That might be the fastest they have moved on the entire project. 🤣

I like the darker colors. As for the tattoo artwork on that side...I'll wait until it's completed before judging. Windows on that side likely posed a challenge for the artist.

That is great to know. Thank you!

Yeah, DIS messes up the quality of pics so bad that pic doesn’t show all that well, but I agree, to me it definitely looked better. More fitting with the resort overall. I “assume” they will do that artwork on both sides eventually(?). Guess we’ll see.

Wonder why they didn't have it match the colors, appearance of the current longhouses?

If you zoom in you can see that darker brown starting to extend on that lighter wall too. Or they stopped painting for some reason. To me the darker brown looks better, it’s more muted than the light tan which sort of stands out, in my opinion.

Second photo bottom of the tower blank wall, unless it’s just a weird brush stroke, looks like the beginnings of more art, a possible sign that the art will eventually extend up that whole wall.

I’ve seen a lot of people suggesting holding off on buying direct Poly contracts for now to see if better incentives come up in the next 18 months. However buying now means getting full 2024 points to bank and use in 2025 (July for us), with minimal 2024 dues, which feels like a bit of an incentive in itself? Or am I missing something? Very new to DVC so please keep me right! I appreciate that overall direct Poly points are an expensive option.

You’ll get 2024 points with $0 2024 dues if you buy in 2025 but before the start of your use year. You’ll pay prorated dues for 2025 by when you agree to buy.

I think odds are at least as good that direct prices will be higher early next year, though. Base price will almost certainly go up at the end of the year.

Edit:
I initially read your message as reflecting that you have an existing July use year, but since that doesn’t exist I assume July is when you plan to travel. The use years don’t quite work the way you seem to be assuming, so I would look around a little to learn more, but suffice to say that if you expect the price to be lower next year, you expect your travel dates to be available even after the 7 month window opens for other resorts, and you are going to advocate for a specific use year that falls after you buy, you will still get the previous years points and you won’t pay any dues for them. As far as I understand, they will bank them for you if you buy in the last few months before the start of your use year, too.
