PVB Tower Charts, Sales Date and more!!!

So what's the deal with this "offer" only being good for a week? Or until the 15th? I did read @Sandisw that incentives could be pulled at any time, like limiting OKW at 299 after they sold way more than expected, but is this in any way confirmed that it's actually happening versus a high-pressure sales tactic?

We're probably out for direct at these prices, but we were mulling over buying the 150x2 on December 1st so we'd have the 10-day recission in case the new incentives were better 10/12. I don't like the idea of a gun to the head for shelling out major cash in under a week under pressure.
The 7 days can also extend past the promotional period. For other incentive periods it says if the tour is done after September 24, the price is good for 7 days rather than on the 30th. I think that's just the standard practice that once you are presented with an offering you are always able to get it for 7 days even if incentives change.

They usually don't change until the quarterly period is over. I haven't ever seen incentives change other than minor additional things like the visa card offering, but maybe others have.

Guides are always given a heads up. Sharing that you may only have 7 days is a pressure tactic common in the traditional timeshare world.

They may not be given a heads up until after they talk to someone though.

I just don’t get why it’s a big deal when the information has always been that things can change with incentives.

Personally, I’d rather have someone say that then not realize a quote or price can change then assume it’s a sales tactic. And I know from personal experience how important that is to be upfront when prices can change for certain things.

Granted, DVD rarely changes the incentives before the advertised end date, which is why I don’t see it as a big deal, especially when you have 10 days legally to get out if you want, if you end up feeling pressured.

So that guide we were discussing a couple days ago wasn't lying after all. Were they using shifty FOMO tactics? Yes, and that disappoints me. But I guess they were actually telling the truth, from a certain point of view... :rotfl2:

I was the first one to report the seven day guarantee on this thread. I don't think she was lying at all. I do believe it was meant to instruct me as a buyer but also create some fear. It had the opposite effect on me. Punched a crater in the FOMO baggage I have been carting around for months and put out the fire to buy on initial offer.

I am grateful for it! Another lesson learned. Only time will tell if I have made the right call, but I can say my budget is sighing in relief.

It's about how you use and present the information. How many times in the history of DVC sales have incentives gone away after just 7 days?

I don't know about 7 days but when they had the OKW fire sale in May they definitely altered it before the initial expiration date. I think it may have been 3 weeks or so later? So yes changes can and have happened.

I never thought of it like that, that's definitely a good point.

Does anyone know, if I buy December UY will I receive 2023 & 2024 points?

Am considering a small direct add on, but would only want to do it if I get 2 years of points.

Would this be the same at any other resort? Or is Poly special?
No and I also have a December use year. I was looking forward to a 200 point add on until I found out on opening day they wouldn't give me last years points , not even last years developers points that I could use elsewhere ( they did this as a promotion when I bought Kidani AK in 2008 because it was not open yet . Developer SSR points were given or a 3 day cruise).
However I have switched gears and told my guide to call me November 1 and I am going to buy RR. I was going to do 250 to get 33 off a point but after thinking about it I'm going to do 268 for an even 1000. @Sandisw get ready to add me to the list lol

I’m getting cold feet today. I’ve bounced around from “just 25-50 points” all the way up to “FW 1br level points”.

My husband is telling me not to enter the hunger games and two studios will be fine. It’s with his parents after all, maybe I will appreciate the separation. I would still like to add one more night to my trip and there is no availability, so weighing my options. I guess there isn’t much downside to a small add on within the cancellation window to see how it all plays out?

A bungalow is available. Maybe an add on for just that one night and also cross it off the bucket list and don’t worry about the tower at all!

Thanks for listening to my stream of consciousness.

100 + 100 + 68 or 268 in one shot?

I just added that to my list to bring for my owners locker.
If this helps, on the last day of a trip--when I'm packing up--I make a list on iCal (calendar) with everything I need to bring next time (mostly to replace items that have been used in my Owner's Locker). The list sits there on iCal. I can add to it later if I want. And I have two alerts to send me notifications one and two days before my next trip. The notifications have really helped. This past week, when I was getting ready to go, I had a pop-up, which included two things I forgot to pack.

Yeah, that was in the back of my mind, too.

DH and I decided on 150 (75x2) to add to our Riviera September use year, just in case the week thing was legit. I wanted 300 originally, but the price is too darn high, and I didn’t feel comfortable draining savings that much.

One *good* thing, I guess, about high price per point, 150 is $215pp versus 300 at $210. “Saving” $750 to pay out an additional $30k is not enough to swing us, LOL.

Happy Poly owners though! And now each kid gets a Skyliner and monorail resort we all love.

Bring on the grandchildren (in 20 years!)

This is a level of organization I aspire to, but will never achieve 😢

Luckily DW is organized and detail-oriented enough for both of us. She love a good list!

Yeah that would definitely be some Mickey math LOL.. If we spend an extra $30K we can save $1,500 (it would actually be that since you'd be saving $5 pp on all 300, not just the extra 150 - but still)! Not really worth it unless you really want that many points.

On another note, I see from your username that you have twins. Same here! Along with two other kids. For me it's about 10 years away from grandkids though (the twins just turned 20 and the others are 17 and 16). That's part of the reason I've been getting so many points.
