PVB Tower Charts, Sales Date and more!!!

Is anyone else stressing that Hurricane Milton is going to delay the opening of the Poly Tower?

Nobody is scheduled to stay there currently and at least after mid-December. Personally, if it opens in December or January it's all the same to me.

But as an owner at 6 Orlando DVC resorts (and a Marriott resort on the gulf coast), I am a bit uneasy about the current track which takes it right over Orlando. If it hits Tampa as a Cat 3+ it will be a huge disaster for that area. And if it gets over Orlando as a Cat 1+ the damage at some resorts (maybe the older ones) can be substantial. It wouldn't surprise me if some visitors with reservations in mid- to late October were impacted. But I feel more for the people living in the Tampa area who might lose their actual homes than WDW tourists, even if I were one of them (and we do have an offsite stay at a Marriott Vacation Club resort coming up over the weekend).

I think the most probable concern is that work has to pause for at least a day or two, with an unknown amount of slack in the schedule between now and Dec 17.
They could pay them overtime and bring them in on the weekend to make up for lost days. I’m super curious to know if they are going to cover those viewing squares to protect the interior from the wind and water. They may have shutters that roll down like the front of a grocery store.

I pulled the trigger on 175 points (150+25). My guide did not give me any hints or insight into how booking will go other than "it's been very popular, call as early as possible". I bought enough to get what I want without using my existing points. If I can't get what we want, I might be regretting this a bit. I'm just daydreaming of sitting in my 1br theme park view with family and friends watching the super bowl and fireworks at the same time!

...and I never cared about a view aside from Animal Kingdom before, but for some reason my brain switched Friday last week from "NEED STANDARD" to "THEME PARK OR BUST".

Congrats! Curious how you are using 175 points for a 1 bedroom theme park view? Are you thinking every 3 years?

My spouse, who does not have a portal log in and can't access our membership card, got the poly mailing today. Not me.

Ask him what our guides name is or how many times we have talked this week!
Our Guide called mine about the Poly Tower and just started talking about how well it was selling, etc….meanwhile, the reaction from the spouse is “umm…what Poly Tower? I don’t even know what that is.”

I saw the rooms today, and did the paperwork for my points. My guide mentioned that the Tower will have the same elevator system that Pixar Place has in California. No buttons on the inside 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve never seen an elevator with no buttons on the inside.
I hate those because I look like an idiot when I immediately forget which elevator it told me and then again when I get into the elevator and go to push a ghost button, but I do acknowledge that they’re demonstrably better.

I think it’s unlikely. The construction part of the outside of the building is done. That’s the part where things can really get delayed.

And besides with Pixar Place they showed that they no longer care if they have the grand opening while the hotel is still under heavy construction.

I am starting to seriously wonder how well it is selling…

My guide who is NOT pushy (took me 3 years of talking to him to buy Riv) called me last Friday to see if I had any interest … I had said no I was all set since I have Riv and Poly resale already.

I just got another call from him pushing the incentives and options. He did not do this w Riv or the Cabins…either they are really pushing sales or maybe initial sales are off what was the expectation?

Just got a cold sales call as well from DVC. A guide I’ve never talked to. It went to VM. But essentially “caching up after the [mass marketing] email…it’s stunning…lots of light wood tones…and an extra bathroom…call me if you have questions.” I think speculation as to how sales are going can now end. If sales were going well, people would be calling them…and the guides would be behind on paperwork. No doubt, there were sales last week…but if Day Seven is cold call time, it’s clearly not hitting targets.

I wonder how long DVC needs to wait to redo incentives?? If done too early, it’ll piss off early buyers. Those buyers need to have rooms all booked I’m putting my money on some surprise “holiday” sale in late November.

They can adjust sales incentives any time they want.

People have gotten smart with DVD and delay closing by spreading out payment for 90 days with DVD having allowed buyers to rewrite contracts with new incentives.

So, some buyers will end up with new ones if they get better

If DVD knows that demand for cash rooms was decent prior to sales starting, then they won’t be in any rush to sell.

I too believe that outside of the first few months, this project is going to sell in line with other resorts and that sales will be to the resort that seems the best financial choice for new buyers who don’t have a preference.

I also wonder how sales are really going now that the initial flurry has died down. I've had multiple emails from my guide in the past week (initial incentives, a marketing guide, favorite week chart, additional info on FW declarations, another follow up) along with several sales emails from DVC more broadly.

And he is not typically pushy or even really overly communicative, either. Always quick to respond if I have a question, but I don't hear from him a ton otherwise.

I figured since he was DL based, perhaps his personal sales weren't going well since it is an East Coast property, but interesting to hear the other anecdotes. I still think Poly's initial sales will be strong based on the initial first day flurry and subsequent flurry once it is on sale to new members, but it is curious to see a shift in marketing with this versus the other properties.

Hmm, I just realized I have my final payment set for 12/2. Maybe I should try to extend to 12/12 incase incentives are actually better?
