PVB the new DVC?

:offtopic: I'm staying at VWL for the first time.......what is the "dumpster room"?.....:confused3

There are some studios at the end of the hall above the service area that have a view of the trash dumpsters.

If that worries you, request "close to elevators".

IMO all resorts have such rooms, you just need to do some research and note where they are.

What I meant by "exclusive" is there isn't anything like it. Maybe exclusive isn't the right word, maybe "unique" would be better. Separate buildings, right on the water, facing the magic kingdom, outside "tub". I think there will be a draw to stay there, mostly by people who don't worry about money. Similar to people paying millions to build a home at Golden Oak.

Outside tub isn't heated, it really is unique, especially in December. :goodvibes

It was the last studio at the end of the long hall and part of the view was of a dumpster. The rest was trees.

Views alone do not generally do it for me. I have booked Boardwalk view only once. I'm happy with standard view at the VGF.

However at VB, the only accommodations I want are OVIRs or if we have 5 or more we book a Beach Cottage. I will not buy at the Poly, but if a bungalow is available at 7 months, that's what I'll book for 2-3 nights. The view of the MK is that good IMO!

PS. We've had a dumpster view quite a few times at VWL. It is the long walk to the elevators more than the view that irks me the most!

I'd rather have the dumpster view than the 1 studio at VWL with no balcony.

I'm feeling really uninformed about the resorts. When I read the comments many of the members can make about specific resorts and rooms - I wonder where I've been (with my head in the sand?)

I've owned at VWL since 2001 - love the resort absolutely beautiful. I once said I felt it was too dark and almost got my head handed to me. I will clarify that statement now - what I meant by dark was not the old furnishings ( which I really liked haven't been home since the remodel but will be there in December) but the lighting in the room I wanted additional lamps to read by.

I stay in mostly 1 or 2 bedrooms - we travel with our children and grandchildren and love having the laundry available, being able to put the kids to bed without worrying about waking them because we are having tea or watching tv.

I've always liked the Poly - but there is no way I could or would buy the points needed for a 2 bedroom for a week which is what I have at VWL.

IMO Disney is just pricing out the middle class and going elitist. Ticket prices included.

I guess it depends on how much time you like to spend on the balcony. Sometime we do, sometimes we don't depending on the view.

I think you've spent your time at VWL and not had a problem with location, etc. You probably haven't spent much time away from your home resort. My in-laws are the same way. They've owned at BC for about 12 years. Outside of one last minute scheduled trip that resulted in them at SSR, they had only ever stayed at BC until we talked them into a spit-stay at our home of BLT. They liked it but I don't think they'll choose to do it again without us prodding. They just like their BC.

We've owned for 3 years now and have stayed at BLT, BC, and BWV. We like near park resorts as well as trying new places but now that we have a little guy, we're going to try to keep near the parks for transportation purposes unless we can sneak away for a couple's weekend and have the ILs watch him in which case we'll go back to our "let's try something new" approach.
