PVB connecting room Category? Possibility?

My guess is that Disney decided not to make a separate booking category to preserve assignment flexibility and to be consistent with the rest of the resort. To the best of my knowledge, Disney does not guarantee connecting rooms for any of its resorts. I've yet to hear of even one report that a PVB guest did not get his/her connecting request, so whatever assignment system the Poly is using seems to be working just as well as any of the resorts.

IMO, those who must have a "guarantee" need to book at a resort that offers larger villas.

The saleable points for any 2BR lock-off are about 17,340. The salable points applicable to a combination of a dedicated studio and dedicated 1BR are about 17,340 points. When you compare the approximate points needed to reserve all 2BRs, dedicated 1BRs, and dedicated studios for a year, both standard and preferred, from the point charts to the total salable points for the 2BRs, dedicated studios and dedicated 1BRs, the totals are close to each other when you assume the 2BRs are reserved only as 2BRs throughout the year.

So, let me see if I understand what this means. Because the salable points allocated to a lockoff and a dedicated 1BR/Studio pair are identical, those points are allocated on a sq. ft. basis. However, the points per sq. ft. are computed in such a way as to ensure that there can never be excess points no matter how Members choose to book things. In other words, a "2BR equivalent" (whether lockoff 2BR or dedicated 1BR+studio) is set to a blended total based on the ratio of lockoffs to dedicated units. Does that sound like the same conclusion you've come to?

According to sq ft appears to be a real possibility. Here is what I found in a little more detail:

1. The total points assigned to any dedicated 1BR were close to twice a studio. Combined those equal the total points assigned to a 2BR, approximately 17,340 (give or take a few points). The Grand Villas were assigned total points that were just a little more than two 2BRs, 34,696, (give or take a few points; that was for single story GVs and I did not determine if the two story might have been different). Its sq ft is close to two 2BRs. In other words points assigned to a unit and the rooms within the unit did not depend on whether it was preferred or standard view or that a room like the GV required a lot more points to reserve than two 2BRs.

2. Those points assigned to a 2BR in any unit having a 2BR are more than it takes to reserve a 2BR for a year, either standard or preferred. The points assigned to a studio and 1BR are more than it takes to reserve a standard studio and 1BR for a year but substanitally less than it takes to reserve a preferred studio and 1BR for a year. The points assigned to a GV were also less than it takes to reserve a GV for a year.

3. I got into all kinds of calculations that I should never have bothered with and finally figured out the one I had to do, to-wit compare the total points assigned to the units to the total it takes to reserve all the rooms for a year. The total points assigned to all the units is about 4.889 million (that is also a total I have seen others provide as the total BWV points). The total it takes to reserve all the rooms for a year if you assume all 2BRs are reserved only as 2BRs comes out to about 4.890 million. The total difference between the two is within a reasonable margin of error which included that I was not using the applicable base year for the point charts and was not sure on whether a few rooms were standard or preferred.
