Another vote for dog tags. We always pin a small dog tag (from Walmart) that simply says "Mom's cell: " with our phone number to the back of his t-shirt collar. That way, he doesn't mess with it, and it's very noticeable.

Really great ideas. I like the idea of writting on the back of the celebration bottons. Someone could actually make up their own fun botton for their child to wear. Also, may kids are now collecting pins so they were lanyards. Putting something on the laynard might work as well.

How about simply taking one of your luggage tags off the suitcase and attaching it to a belt loop. No cost and has all your info.

Last trip I made lanyard tags for my kids, with a Mickey graphic on the front and their name, our cell numbers and the hotel info on the back. I plan on doing the same for our July trip this year.

I literally write our cell number on the inside of their wrist. I tell the girls to look for a cast member or look for a Mommy with kids and ask her to take them to cast member and then show them their number. My girls actually now their number by heart and they are disgusted that I have no faith in them! LOL! But I told them you might be very scattered and not remember it but remember that it is there. I told them if we are prepared then it's no big deal! I also make sure to point out to them what a CM looks like. That they can always walk up to a ride to find one or into a store. But that if we are aware of our surroundings and think Saftey first we'll be fine. That said it's hard to get the one year old on board with the whole safety first idea!

with my child being autistic we do this, we also carry a card that lifetouch photos does when they take school pics of the kids it has his latest pic, info and everything on there so we can give it to authorities if needed.

There is often a simple and free solution. If you are going to wear a "I'm Celebrating", character meal, or Birthday button, ask a CM with a pen to write your cell numbers and other contact information on the back. Kids will enjoy wearing it and nobody will know it's there. CMs promote doing this and will look behind the pins for the information before other places.

We just got dog tags made up at our local pet place. Just put the kiddos first names, and our cell phone on them. I put them on their shoes, as I knew they wouldn't be taking these off and then drilled them to show them to a CM if they got lost.

We did sharpie one year on my son's leg. He's a runner so it was so important that we had a way for someone to find us if he took off.

On the other side I'm going to let them put Disney sticker's on it so that side is showing when they walk around. I have similar bracelets from STuck On You. You write your own info. They work well. However, I usually have to cut the end for my small girls.

The other thing I've done is buy iron-on labels with our last name & my cell number. On past trips, I've ironed on to clothing (on the inside) and on the back of their lanyards. All the child needs to know is to point out where the label is. With a 5 year old, hopefully they can at least do this. I'm not sure that my 3 yo would be able to do this, however.

I would say that now is a good time to have your 5 year old learn emergency phone numbers. DD1 has known our cell numbers & home phone numbers since she was about 4 years old.

Wow, wonderful ideas here. Will be taking our 2yo granddaughter in late June. Will have to do one of these "just in case". Really like the idea of the info inside her shoe and a button with our info on the back.

Thought about maybe something similar for us adults.... but then again, I am sure my wife would put on mine "If found, please keep".

...We took a picture every morning before we left our room so we had a record of what she was wearing that day....

This! It lets the CMs know who they are looking for. It is amazing how many times I have bee with friends with kids and they realize that they have no clue what their kid is wearing. It's just one of those things we (humans) don't pay close attention to, even though we think we do.

...We ceased with all this, only to come up with writing our numbers on the upper arm under their tee shirt. Can't lose their arm (or forget it...)

We just write our cell phone number on their arm with a sharpie. If they get lost a cast member can call us

This is what my sister in law does with my nieces and nephew. It is a really good idea (if you're cool with using ink on skin). She also tells the kids they are only to show it to people who work at xyz place they are at that day, no one else.

Yes Sharpies work on metal. This is what the CMs advise.

Hopefully the Sharpie stays put on the back of the button a lot better than it stays on the front of the button.

I've never even really considered loosing my girls at Disneyland, possibly because I only have two of them and they're both really good about staying with us.

When we went to WDW in 2010, DS was 7 and we were worried about him getting lost. We went with the dog tags printed with Mom - cell # and Dad - cell # (no names).

The tag was attached to his shorts with a ring that had to be turned to open and close. It was hard for him and very secure so we didn't worry about him losing it.
