I know you can put your pass on your room key, but if you don't end up using all the days on your non-expiration pass (now, room key), I assume you simply keep your room key for your next trip? Just seems odd to me. Then I guess on your next trip, Disney can transfer those unused days to the new room key? Can you put multiple passes on one room key? (like if I have 2 unused days and a new 6-day pass..... can they combine both onto my room key?)

That's exactly what you do.

As of now they can as long as you don't buy any new tickets to go on them but that's always subject to change.

No, they cannot. They are not allowed to mix ticket media purchased at different times. You can use the old ticket's dollar value towards purchasing the new ticket but you cannot just add the old ones onto a new ticket.

I know you are like THE park media guru so I have a question for you. On these boards I have been told that if you purchase 1 day MYW tix with your package to get the free dining you can save that ticket for later. And usually this board is more up to date than CM's so I want to believe that. However....my DU agent said that she was told that we would have to use 1 day of our ticket media regardless of whether I purchased 1 day or 10 day on that trip for it to be good at a later date. We have AP's so we don't need to use it. My next question is this....if it has to be used this trip can it be issued separately from our room key (I was planning on just giving it to a family in line to buy passes if it HAD to be used since we don't need it) And if it doesn't have to be used I'm just assuming our room key will just be that ticket in the future and we will need to make sure that this time they aren't just souvenirs that we let DD play with and put them in a safe place :) Thanks for your help!!

Confusion abounds on this issue since this is the first time a worthwhile MYW package has been offered since they switched to the MYW tickets. Let me preface this by saying that what I am about to write is the way I have interpreted Disney's information. You may or may not agree with my reading of it.

The MYW tickets that come with a package - any package, not just the free dining one - are nothing like package tickets from prior years. Those old tickets (UPH's) were tied to your reservation and had to be used during that stay at WDW. They were advertised that way and expired at the end of your stay.

MYW tickets do not. They expire 14 days after first use unless the non-expiration option is purchased. There are some MYW tickets that have "must use by" expiration dates but they are specialty tickets, not the ones sold to the general public. The tickets you get with a package do not carry any "must use by" dates. None of the the booking information Disney uses shows a ticket "must use by" date. If Disney wanted you to use at least one admission, they would spell that out in their "fine print" details when booking the package. They don't.

So absent this, your MYW tickets are regular tickets. They can be saved and used anytime in the future. As I said to another DISer in another post, what's Disney going to do if you have a 7 day package and a one day ticket and on day 8 after you have left they find you have not used your one day ticket? Are they suddenly going to charge you for the meals you ate over the previous week? Not likely.

I'm afraid that the issue will not be put to rest until the first DISer comes back from their next WDW visit after their package stay and posts "I used my saved MYW Free Dining package ticket today and had no problems".

Could I be wrong about the way I interpret this? Possibly because you can never say never when you deal with Disney. But I think the probability of my being right outweighs the possibility of my being wrong on this. ;)

One other sort-of hypothetical question. If I were to buy say 10 day tickets with the package to plan on a future vacation. But I don't want to activate it - but I do want non-expiring because I plan on using it over two trips - would I be better off to just make it non-expiring from day 1 when I purchase it - or do you think that the new tickets are going to be around for a while and I can comfortably wait to make it non-expiring on the trip I use it for the first time so I don't absorb all the expense of the tickets now? I know you don't KNOW this answer (unless you have a crystal ball) - just wanting to get and idea of what your feeling is on this subject.

It would more likely than not be cheaper in the long run to pay for the non-expiration now as it will probably cost you more to do it in future years.
If money's a problem now, you can wait until later to do it. That's assuming of course that Disney hasn't changed their tickets again by the time you want to use them. ;) Don't you just love variables that you can't control? :rotfl:
