Purse made from my sheets!

My sister and our friend has taken up sewing. We went to Florida together last year and are going again this summer. My sister asked me for my sheet set, and they used it to make purses for us! I love them, and they are really well done, especially considering they only just started sewing. I think it's a great way to recycle... even though I wasn't quite ready to get rid of the sheets!

My apologies for the quality of the picture. My sister is not so great with the camera, and it was saved from an e-mail she sent me.

Thanks! They made each top section a little different so we could figure out easily which purse was ours! Don't want to do our Disney Shopping with another person's money!

Caution, don't use fabric that is too old and gone through the wash zillions of times; it might have weak spots and split open.

My mother tried mending a bed sheet using her sewing machine but after just a few nights of continued use, it tore somewhere else.

Thanks for the heads up. She usually buys her fabric new, but we couldn't find anything with Mickey Mouse on it that we liked. This fabric is pretty thick, and it's lined with something else on the inside. Hopefully it will hold.
