Many thanks to the replies I got to my first set of questions. Now . . . .
I see discussion of "renting and trading" points. I'm trying to understand what that's all about.
It sounds like renting points just means using my points to make a one-time reservation for someone else to use, with that person compensating me in return at an agreed-upon rate. The person need not be a DVC member at all. DVC is not formally involved in this transaction.
Trading points seems a little fuzzier. It sounds like maybe if I have points that are going to expire and can't be banked, I can simply give them to another DVC member for their use, but I cannot receive any money in return. This does involve DVC, since the points actually move from one account to another, so some sort of formal authorization would be involved.
My guess is that I don't quite have this one right, since it seems like it would be a fairly rare occurance.
Any thoughts on this, or explanations?
