Need to add a day to beginning of trip....

We're staying at BWI May 18-23, but have decided to fly in the evening before. I'm not seeing availability for that night at BWI, but wondering if it's possible that availability will pop up due to cancellations etc. Many years ago we arrived super late, and decided to do a value that night, just to see how we liked it. I've thought of doing that this time, but wondering if it will be a hassle to change resorts the next day. I've also considered seeing if there's a villa available that we could all cram into for that first night (there are 7 of us, including a 2 year old). So the rest of the trip we'll have 2 rooms. I'd love to hear any ideas on how you all handle things like this. Thank you!

Have you tried doing a brand new search?
I searched May 17-23 and noted some rooms available.
If for some reason you haven't been able to modify online you can always book a new reservation and cancel the old one.
(Or call and ask if they can help.)

Yes availability can pop up all the way to and including the day of your trip.

Are you looking at cramming into a 1 bedroom for the first night at BW? The room capacity is 4 so that doesn’t even sound like a real option.

I would book the 2 value rooms (Pop if you’re doing DHS or EP) or 2 rooms at Swolphin and then hunt BW availability. Upside to Disney is they allow changes with no charges traditionally so you would be able to keep looking week of your trip- even refundable Swolphin bookings go non-refundable deposit like 5 days out or something. Upside to Swolphin is nicer rooms than Disney and a great pool if you arrive early. (Call Swolphin direct to check on family deals for 2 rooms.)

Ah, the classic Disney’s Magical Availability! Nothing is available- unless you add more nights

OP, if you see what you want and don’t want to book and cancel just give Disney a call and tell them you see availability if you add more nights, guest services should be able to help you modify your reservation to include it.

When I did a new search it shows a room available, but at the higher price before the discount that I received earlier when I booked. Maybe I should just call and see if they can add it on for us. Thank you!

Thank you! That's a great idea! What I meant by cramming into it, was if we could get a large enough villa. I definitely wouldn't attempt staying in a regular room with all of us.

We've done that before, as well, when we had an 11:00 p.m. arrival. This one is earlier though, I believe 5:40 p.m. So I was thinking that would give us enough time to get onsite and wake up there. I do love the Hyatt in the airport though!

You would need to look for a 2BR. BW is unlikely (nothing is impossible, though!) because all the 2BR there are lockoffs, and the studios book up pretty solidly, leaving only 1BR. SSR or OKW or even AKV are the largest and therefore most likely to have 2BR villas available this close to your dates.

Hopefully you'll be able to add a night by calling and won't have to move!
