Purchasing pts. through Disney for a resale

We just decided to purchase a DVC. But, we haven't decided if purchasing through Disney or or purchasing a resale would be better for us. The big plus for purchasing through Disney, is not having it show up on our credit report, with their financing. On the other hand, the timshare store, has some really good deals for purchasing. But, if we purchase through the timeshare store, can we finance additional points, through Disney? or, Purchase points for transfer, from other DVC members?

Also, if I were to purchase a resale and add additional points, through Disney, will I be eligible for the incentives offered by Disney? or Are the incentives only for those purchasing from Disney?

Once you become a member, even if through resale, you are eligible for all the same perks, add-on incentives, etc as someone who purchased direct through Disney.

There is no distinction at that point. Some prefer what Disney has to offer with a direct purchase and some prefer what the resale market offers. Both are viable ways of joing DVC and you will be considered a member regardless of which method you chose.

While this is true to the extent that DVC was not listed as a creditor, Disney's name did show on my credit report that they did check my credit.

It is true that Disney's name will show up as someone who looked at your credit score, just like anyone offering to extend you any kind of credit (whether you requested it or not). These often can be as simple as credit card companies who are sending you an offer in the mail. It is a "soft check" in that regard.

It should not, however, show up as an actual open credit line or loan and therefore should not affect your balances-to-credit line ratio, which is a big part of your credit score.

We've always gone through Disney (although we have not purchased resale) b/c our DVC loans do not show up on our credit report. Their preferred financing rate of 10.75% is lower then what I was offered on my own. They just made it easy.
