I have tickets next weekend for Frozen at Phillips Arena in Atlanta. Will be leaving from Norcross where my husband is staying for some work training, around 9:30 that morning, the 10th.

Will leaving then be enough time? And I went online to buy parking and it looks as if there is no parking available to purchase? What gives?

Need all advice, tips, ect for this area, parking, just the arena itself.

They are building a new football stadium in that area and have several parking areas closed during construction. Parking will be at a premium, so the local news is advising everyone who is attending events in the area to have their parking reserved before leaving home.

Leave as early as possible, as traffic around the venue will be awful :( Go early and maybe enjoy the aquarium or world of coke.

Oh nooooo. Uggghhhh. I thought going to a Friday morning show it might be a little better. So where do we park at then if there is no prepaid parking available? Now I am really worried.

Earlier this year when we went to the circus at Philips Arena, we drove in to the first Marta station available to us (we live about an hour away from Atlanta) and rode Marta to the arena. It could not have been more convenient - the stop is directly AT Philips Arena - and parking was free at the Marta station.

We are not used to using mass transit but it really was painless, even for us.

Traffic will be busy as it's still somewhat in the morning rush. Parking will be hard to get unless you plan on arriving very early. Say about 2 hours. Riding MARTA is advised. I don't like riding it but I would in this situation. Very easy and painless.

There is no way we can get there 2 hours early, we will be doing good to get there 1 hour early. I am open to riding Marta, not sure about my husband though. We will be at a hotel in Norcross and I just wonder where the best location would be to hop on Marta is?

Wish we could just leave our car at the hotel and ride from there. Possible?

No, unfortunately that's not possible (unless there's some kind of commuter bus in that area). MARTA is really dumb in that it doesn't go anywhere much outside the city. From Norcross, you can drive to the Doraville station if you want to catch the train. I've never taken MARTA from there, so I don't know what the parking situation is like.

It depends on where you are staying in Norcross. If you will be staying near Georgia 400 the Sandy Springs station is close and has plenty of parking. Doraville is close as well but doesn't have much parking. Another thought would be to see if your hotel has a shuttle and could maybe drop you off/pick you up at the Marta station.

Ok, from what I could tell on their website, the closest "station" would be Chamblee I think. Didn't even really realize it was a train until then either, was thinking a bus. Maybe get off at the Five Points thing and walk? I don't make it much down to Atlanta, can ya tell? I will be taking all of your advice and researching this majorly all this week. Oh and by the way, we will be coming from the Residence Inn in Norcross if that helps any.

No, Doraville is closest, then Chamblee. So I guess if they don't have any parking at Doraville, maybe Chamblee then? Would it be possible that they may not have any parking at either?

Also, would you get off at 5 points and walk to the arena or do the transfer thing to the blue line?

You could also take a cab - to either the Marta station, or all the way to Philips Arena. Not sure how budget-friendly that would be, though. Convenience is not always cheap.

I ride Marta all the time - it's definitely the best option for you IMO. Go to their website and you can see where the closest station is that has parking available. You could also perhaps Uber from your hotel to the station. I live in midtown and would never drive to the arena. Way too much congestion. But the again that is why I live in midtown - so I can walk everywhere I need to go!

Oops sorry OP - I see you've looked up the stations. Both doraville and chamblee have free short term parking available. I'd go with whichever is closest. Hop on and relax! Way better than navigating traffic - especially at nine am yikes!

Ps yes you need to take the train to five points then transfer to west line for one stop. Although when we used to go to the dome we would always jump off at peachtree center and walk over. For some reason that feels better to me than making the transfer. If you think you might get confused easily about direction I probably wouldn't do that. But it's a neat city kind of walk.

Not necessarily. I live in the area and depending on where in Norcross OP is Chamblee may be closer. Chamblee always has parking. I take Marta out of there often.

If you plan on getting any refreshments at the arena bring lots of money. Prices are outrageously high! No outside food or drink is allowed.
