Purchasing on a cruise?

Hello, DVC experts!!

For the first time ever, after many WDW trips, DH and i are seriously considering purchasing DVC. After some research, we are thinking we will likely purchase most, if not all, of our points resale.

If we do decide to purchase a minimum contract directly, is it "best" to do so on a cruise? We sailed on DCL for the first time in January and attended one of the sales sessions, where we were told this was the case. Are the incentives actually better? We will (hopefully?) be sailing on the Magic in January and could wait until then...

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

i have read things were the same. In addition, there seems to be truth to the info that buying direct for blue card benefits will now require 125 vs, 100. The change will go in effect October 1st.

Keep that in mind!

Plus who knows when DCL will be sailing for sure so someone could wait until their cruise in early 2021 which just gets cancelled, you then lost out on promos now, plus the direct min is higher as well.

When we took the Disney Cruise just this past February, we attended the DCV sales because they promised us FPs if we did so. The sales offered on the ship were exactly the same being offered on the DCV website at that time, though they did offer an immediate onboard credit (I think $100?) if you closed the deal on the ship.

For the tour onsite they've offered gift cards (no purchase needed), so it's sort of the same deal.

Thanks for your responses everyone. You have confirmed what I thought. Had to make sure I wasn't missing something!

Oh when you do cruise though make sure to go to the mixer and stop by and talk to the guides. They normally will have hats or what not plus a magnet or something for you.
