Purchasing Magicband+

I think that is true for the WDW app only so it is still something to consider if wanting to use the same MagicBand+ for both coasts.

The one I plan to borrow would only be for this trip. I will likely purchase one whenever I make it over to WDW (2028 - ?). I would buy one now if I weren't afraid they would change the tech before I made it to WDW.

I would NEVER buy a Magic Band off eBay or other resale site unless it was verified NEW and never used with a full refund policy.
I've bought 4 or 5 over the years from eBay and never had a problem with any. As I said, make sure they are listed as new and unopened (you can even take a screenshot just in case) and check the seller ratings and how long they have sold on eBay. If ratings are high and they have been selling for a good amount of time, then I would not hesitate. And if still unsure, check their return policy. Most credible sellers offer this.

disney reward visa gives 10% off disneystore that works on these. Like jani3 mentioned, dvc recent 20% code also for disney rewards worked but now expired.

I used DHs at Disneyland last year. It had been attached to his WDW account. DD used her little brother's. No problems linking them to different people at Disneyland. They were the only two who needed MBs during our 2023 trip, and I opted for MB+ for them for fun.
I had to use my own boring one at Disney World in the Fall. Both trips I kept grabbing MB+, then changing my mind and putting them back.

Side note - for anyone planning on picking MB+ up when you arrive at the park:

Right now, the supply around the resort is pretty dire. I can't tell if they're phasing them out or if there's a supply issue, but there are fewer and fewer of them around, especially outside the parks.

Last night, neither DLH nor GCH had any in stock. World of Disney was down to Vacation Club, Jungle Cruise, First Visit, and maybe one other. (There was an evening last week that World of Disney only had Vacation Club bands.)

Even still - recently, the choices have been far fewer. I wasn't in the parks last night - but Tomorrowlanding has had the best selection of bands in recent weeks. Even then, it feels like they keep finding stuff in storage and throwing them out there.

If you're coming to DLR the next few weeks and you want them, you may want to consider ordering them from DisneyStore in advance.

(I'm quietly irritated that they're selling the 70th band on DS but not at the parks - they've tended to sell out pretty quickly when they've been stocked, and that feels like something that would be helpful while the 70th MB+ tap points are available.)

Thank you for sharing that - I had planned on getting them in park or at least DTD, similar to the way I had kids pick out the Nintendo World Mario bands, so they could see the options and how big they are. If the selection is poor, I guess I'll have to buy online instead. Do you know about how long they take to ship? We aren't headed there until end of May, so I'm assuming I have plenty of time to decide if I want to buy in advance or take my chances when we get there.

We have a tentative trip planned for WDW in December, so I definitely plan on getting the bands since we can use them at least twice!

In my experience, I have gotten Disney shipments shockingly fast...usuallly within three-four days...but I am in a major city (Denver), don't know how much difference that makes.

I'm getting ready to buy the new Minnie red polka dot one and just found it on ebay for $38, free shipping...that's comparable to DL with my MK discount PLUS I will have it when I get there 😉

I went scouting through tonight - here's what I found overall:

I only found four different bands. Emporium and Five & Dime just had Jungle Cruise. World of Disney and Tomorrowlanding had Jungle Cruise, Vacation Club, and First Visit. Westward Ho had those three, plus the Tiana's Bayou Adventure band (the dark blue one with Louis). Kingswell (which used to have one of the best selections) had nothing.

For anyone who remembers the big MB+ display at Tomorrowlanding, this is what it looks like now:

It wasn't that long ago that this was all MB+.

I overheard a plaid talking to a guest who was looking for them at the Emporium - they seemed surprised but didn't have a clear answer.

I ordered one in January and it arrived two days later. But, same thing, I'm in the L.A. metro, so it might not have had to travel very far.

Btw - I'm at the parks basically weekly - I can post if something changes in the next few weeks. They're still putting new ones on DisneyStore (they just debuted a Zootopia one) - I'm totally baffled as to why they can't just send small batches of them out to DLR, even if they're only sold in a couple of places. I'm hoping there's just some weird supply issue.

With the limited functionality of MB+ at Disneyland I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t sell a lot of them. This would explain why they have reduced the availability in the parks. I am sure they expected more people to buy them because of the 70th interactive touch points but I assume this didn’t happen.

When did the MB start disappearing? Maybe there is a shipping delay and Adventure needed them for its opening. Adventure was in town six weeks ago. They could have taken the park MB and loaded them onto the ship, leaving the park in short supply and waiting for the next shipment.

"Additionally, a MagicBand+ may be unlinked from an account and linked to a new account via the Disneyland app."
Can someone tell me where the unlink from an account is? I have a Magicband+ I want to unlink from my account so my son can use when he goes, but cannot find how to do that. The only option I see is to link it to another ticket.

If you click on the name or the image of the band (it's easier if you click on the image), it'll pull up the main Manage screen - there's a link at the bottom of that page.

We're heading there in a few days and assumed World of Disney at DTD would have many to choose from. Hope they have at least some of the basics. Two years ago they had an entire wall of all themes and colors.

Honestly - that might explain it. There's been such a gradual decline over the last few months - but way more so in the last six weeks or so. Maybe three weeks ago, there were suddenly a bunch of Big Thunder bands around the park, like they'd just suddenly found the inventory. (Kind of the same thing with the Jungle Cruise bands.) The stuff that's here is stuff that would probably be too park-specific to work on the Adventure.

I've been quietly under the impression that the tariffs last year put a hit on manufacturing. They clearly can't charge more for them, so I think they've been leaning on existing inventory and making the higher-priced bands in order to maintain revenue. (And WDW and the cruise ships "need" them more than DLR does, so it wouldn't be a surprise for them to shift inventory.)

The selection around DLR basically evened out around the holidays - the same handful of (blah) designs everywhere. That was around the time that they started moving them to smaller displays - off the walls and onto racks. There was a big influx of the Mom and Dad ones in February, but those were gone pretty quickly. I think the pin store in Downtown Disney (near the monorail) was the first to completely lose their stock - maybe two months ago.

I'm leaning on this being a supply problem rather than an intentional phase-out. I mean, the tech works - there's no reason not to sell them, even if they just stock World of Disney and one or two stores at each of the parks. Anecdotally on my part - it's been surprising to me how many people have been actively asking about them in the last couple of weeks as I've been poking around.

But I can't figure out whey they haven't shipped more of the DisneyStore stock back to DLR.

Found it! Thank you. Sorry I am a bit challenged when it comes to technology.
As a UI/UX designer - I'll totally go to bat for you on that one. They made the whole thing look like one big button, but it's two links in the same button. I won't bore you with the full explanation as to why they did it that way, but it's definitely confusing.
