Hi,
I am new to this thread and I was wondering do they charge duty tax if you buy Disney gift cards from the US and bring it over to Canada. I was planning on buying a few in Niagara Falls, NY and unsure :? any help would be appreciated :) thanks

Not a tax lawyer, but IMHO unless your gift card is for an explicit item that duty can be levied against at a defined rate, they cannot charge duty. In the future if you theoretically used them for say $1000 in Disney clothing and were above your allowances, they could then charge you duty on the clothing. Since Disney cards can be used for virtually anything at a Disney propery or store (food, accommodation, service, and some items that may have duty applied if brought back to Canada) you could end up using for item that would have no duty impact whatsoever - which is how most use.

I brought back $800 is Disney gift cards a couple months ago. The border guard wasn't sure what to do with them, but eventually let me go without paying anything. I don't know what the official answer is.
