We set sail (fingers crossed) in April. Does DCL offer any DVC deals while onboard? Or just the same as whatever offer is available at the time?

Buying resale currently, but blue is my favorite color.... wondering what the cheapest direct way "in" could be?

If they make me buy 150 points direct, might they let me buy 75 Riviera and 75 OKWe?

In the past you got an extra $500 on board credit if you bought a minimum point amount set by DVC. We are also sailing in April and are interested to see about adding some more VGF once it goes on sale again.

I would get a concrete offer right before you leave and make a decision based on that. Heck, I'd bring the printout and ask them to beat it. I doubt it will be significantly different, and guides have said some things that are perhaps inaccurate.

They put salesmen on the cruise for a reason. See if he can get the sale.

In the past the deals on board were slightly better than whatever current promotion was being offered. As @RoseGold suggests above, check out the current offers before you get on board.

In the past few years the deals on board have been the exact same as the promotions on land, so no advantage to buying onboard in that aspect. We didn't buy when we were sailing so I don't know if there was any onboard credit given or not.

Regarding dividing up the 150 points into two contracts, I believe all 150 points needs to be in one contract to count toward a blue card, but I could be mistaken.

No, it can be across multiple. But for first time buyers they seem to be requiring a 150 contract.

When I was on board (October 2018), they offered the same DVC purchase promotions on land. However, they did offer an extra $500 "onboard credit" if we signed on the dotted line. So there may be a slight advantage?

I started cruising Disney in 2013. I attended all DVC gatherings on our cruises. They never had a deal that was anything more than what you could get on land.

When people talk about past years, they are looking far back in the past. A $500 onboard credit would have been matched by a $500 rebate or that much off the purchase if you bought it on land.

Know the deals; write them down and take the info with you. Attend the meetings. See if the onboard deal is any better overall.
