Hi everyone.

I’m considering buying 75 points at AKV to go with my resale points. A few questions if I may...

How long does the process take roughly, from first point of contact to points hitting my account? (I understand there might be a wait if Disney don’t have points straight away but hypothetically if they did have them in hand...)

Other than the purchase price what other fees are to be paid; dues, closing fees etc...

If I’m purchasing the same Use Year will the extra points just become part of one big pot including my resale ones?

Finally, how long before I receive my Direct member DVC Card, bearing in mind I’m in the UK.

Thanks in advance! 👍

If available, you'll likely have your points within 24 hours.

You'll pay prorated 2019 UY ADs (from when you sign). If you own an October, Dec UY, you will not pay ADs on the 2018 points. There are closing costs expenses relative to the size of the contract.

Your new 75 point contract will have a .1, .2, .3, etc. affixed to your current contract numbers, depending on how many contracts you have now. Even though it is the same UY, same resort, same titling (and it would need to be titled exactly the same to appear under one membership), it will be a separate contract. And while available to pool to book, it will appear on your dashboard and booking window as a separate contract.

If they have points they will be in your account in less than 24 hours. Dues will be pro rated based on the use year. They will be a separate from your other points but have the same number and like Bing Showie said ends in.1,.2,.3. No one knows how long it takes to get the blue card. Online it should be blue instantly. When you use the points it will ask you which group of points you want to use. You select what you want. If you need more than those, it will ask you to select another group. You simply chose the other.

To add that the bill for the pro-rated dues is done approx. 6-8 weeks after your purchase. It is not paid at the time of purchase.

Reports are they are finally back to getting the member cards out relatively quickly but you'd have online immediately. That is all we've used for the past couple of years.

On a new purchase, some states require a 3 day "cooling off period" before the transaction is complete. So depending on where you live, access to your new points may be after that 3 day period.

Florida requires a 10 day period which is what DVC follows on all contracts. If a state requires more then that would be the only difference. What DVC places in the contracts is that if you use points before closing you are then responsible for paying a certain stated amount for the points. You still get access to the points immediately.

I’m also considering adding 75 direct to go with me resale contracts. My question is do I need to get the same use year as my resale contracts. I’ve spoken to sales person already and he implied that I would need to have the same use year as my resale contract. I’m not sure if he said this in order to for it to be more convenient or if it’s required when your doing a smaller add on contract.

At times DVC has required it. If it were the difference between making a sale or not then they'd probably let you do a new one. Unless you plan to use it independently from your existing points though it is much easier to have it all under one UY. Even if using it independently it is just a little easier to have it under one.

Which resort? For 75 points that number should be high enough for you to buy points at any resort with any use year. Usually the small contracts 25 to about 50 points they require same use year. Good luck.
